Thank you I learned a lot with many of your video's . I want to make a bicycle box that will cover both side of the main triangle ( it should hide 1/3rd of the frame tubes ) ,the shape I planned for is as complex as this one here in your video .I found out how to do it ( the plug ) but what I am stuck with is how to make a second side . How do I copy and reverse it ? I looked into companies specialized in molds they ask ridicule price as if they will do the entire work ( I will make the 1st half myself ) . How do you make such job ? a video about that would be just fantastic and for sure help a lot of DIY Joe's like me ,Thanks for sharing all that great knowledge with us ,Cheers!
great & thank you ,I will send you pics asap ,but you can see the chassis I want to make by project with here -> store.ruff-cycles.com/ruff-frames/porucho/ruff-cycles-frame-porucho-v4-alu.html the box planned will cover the lower front triangular part & maybe a secondary section could be set in the tank area .it depends on how things go with the main project ,sorry for the delayed response . Cheers , TY and be safe
brother ... my congratulations for your excellent work! A doubt, what technique did you use so that the dividing plate fits perfectly to the tank outline? Thank you in advance and may the good winds always accompany you! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Could you make a video of how you mold the mold you’re working on? I am trying to make my own customs tank too and there’s not a lot out there for making the molds but only once you have the mold made and how to fiberglass on top of that mold.. sorry if that was explained terribly.
you prolly dont care at all but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my login password. I love any tricks you can give me
@Jefferson Lyle thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I am a engineering student. I want to know about the complete method of making mold with all content name like ''MIRROR GLAZE'' Mold release wax and ..............
Glenn Laney this mold is for a V Rod. So it is just an air tank cover as the gas is under the seat in these bikes. Check out my other videos to see the finished product.
@@jovkniemozna thank you for answering my question, i now understand and that goes for fiberglass also, if i suppose you were using that for construction.
That is McGuires #8. The Gel Coat is generic Orange Tooling Gelcoat. Say that at any boat shop and theyll know both products well. Do not let them talk you into Partal Paste for wax. It doesn’t apply or remove as easy.
tunjang fiberglass yes, as long as the finish is gloss. Surface would just have to be prepped really good with a few coats of carnuba wax and be sprayed with PVA. A liquid that is like sprayig a plastic bag over it to make sure mold doesn’t stick to the part.
DD Custom Designs thank man,i just bought a helmet, and i want to make the mold, and tried your technique, but the mold became realy hard to pop up, and stuck to the helmet, what could be wrong
walter lindo because of all the lines the tank has it would be hard for the final piece to release from the mold. With 2 piece it comes out of the mold a lot easier.
Awesome video! Thanks! I'm just making a tank cover to replace the rusted out tank on my 1987 FZR1000 EV conversion. This helped me a lot.
nice dd custom i am now your one of subscriber, you done it without talking
Awesome, you make it look so easy!
No frills or tooling superb video
Cool process.. Perfect quality of the mold!
Wow nice awesome tnx for sharing tutorial

@Jefferson Lyle It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much you really help me out !
@Guillermo Kylen You are welcome :D
The hard part is the joggle to join the top and bottom together you should show that.
Very nice bro 🔥🔥🔥
Fantastic job thanks
Master! The best products vid
Waiting for the new air box cover for vrod muscle as u said
Motorcycle maniacs S prototype is finished next week and production will
begin after that.
Good job!
I would like to see how you made the original plug for the tank cover?
Farmer Fpv with foam and bondo.
Great work
Hello there 👋 how many coats of Gelcoat ? Did you wait at all in between layers of fiberglass ?
jaguar alegre one thick coat of gelcoat. And no did all layers at once.
DD Custom Designs thanks bro you are the best
This is an experienced laminator for sure. Pay attention to his use of the torn glass instead of making relief cuts with scissors.
nice job, thank you so much
Супер! Отличная работа)))
Why didn’t he mold in registration marks? The bolt holes can sometimes have enough play to get a flash line
bacan, saludos desde peru
great job
that the way the teach mi,same waxs we use, only because we add roven to the fiberglass for it to be stronger.
What oz fiberglass was each layer?
Good day sir what are the material you used?
Thanks godbless
One gel coat or more?
Do you have any more videos on d.i.y fiber glass tank work?
I am a engineering student. I want to know about the complete method of making mold with all content name like ''MIRROR GLAZE'' Mold release wax and ..............
could you make a video showing how you make the parts out a mould such as this one ?
Dominique Bovard yes I can. Will work on it soon.
@@devindiegodesigns do you have that video now?
Is it enough strong to make bike body...
What kind of wax did you applied? Hope to answer me. Thanks..
Reduvin Dela Cruz Maguiars yellow carnuba wax
That was really informative . Besides release wax do u ever use PVA on your molds ? And does PVA make finished product differ from original part ?
shaan amir yes I use PVA. And no its just another mold release agent
@@devindiegodesigns thanks mate .
question : it`s ok this mix fiberglass - gasoline? will not penetrate in time? if someone can answer please
pete johnson i do not recommend it. Would have to seal it something else
Can you duplicate anything, to make a mold
Did you make a complete tank or just a top cover?
Glenn Laney this mold is for a V Rod. So it is just an air tank cover as the gas is under the seat in these bikes. Check out my other videos to see the finished product.
Could this have been done in one piece instead of a split piece mold?
you can't because after apply the carbon fiber or glass fiber you can't remove the mold for the edges and corners
@@jovkniemozna thank you for answering my question, i now understand and that goes for fiberglass also, if i suppose you were using that for construction.
Any reason for the two color gel coat?
DINO IL CAGNOLINO no, just ran out of one color haha
I read that polyester resin suffers from shrinkage. Did you have experience with this issue? please share, thanks.
nixland yes, it does shrink to a certain extent. But nothing that will be detrimental to your parts.
DD Custom Designs thank you so much for the answer. Appreciate it. I want to make mother mold for my helmet :)
nixland no problem. Hope this video helps you with the helmet
DD Custom Designs By the way you mentioned wax the surface 5 times. Do you mean wax it 5 times then rub it with cloth or do wax+rub 5 times? thanks
nixland wax+rub 5 times. You don't want your part to stick to your mold. It's happened to me and had to start from scratch. Not fun 👎🏽
well done...

How well do fiberglass gas tanks hold up over time on a street bike that is used for cross country riding?
amphibdriver1 have never done a tank to hold gas. If they use the correct resin I don’t see why it would have any issues.
How do You get the plug symmetrical? Is it just look and feel or is there any smart techniques to get it symmetrical?
Mattias Lindström take as many measurements as possible from wherever you can get them and make them match.
Can you make a inner fairing for a harley?
Go Getta are you asking if I can make it or just in general because you can make anything out of fiberglass.
Nice good klo buat cover tangki gmn ya
what things are required for making this please tell me

is it possible to make the mold. if the tank has already painted?
tunjang fiberglass yes, as long as the finish is gloss. Surface would just have to be prepped really good with a few coats of carnuba wax and be sprayed with PVA. A liquid that is like sprayig a plastic bag over it to make sure mold doesn’t stick to the part.
