I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I'd suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
In the 50's my Dad worked a modest job, Mom stayed at home and raised the kids, and they lived a nice middle class lifestyle including owning a home. Nowadays both I and my partner works and can barely afford to make ends meet. Soon the kids and family dog will need to work to keep this household going. It's the destruction of the American dream right before our eyes.
If you are not in the financial market space right now, you are making a huge mistake. I understand that it could be due to ignorance, but if you want to make your money work for you...prevent inflation
I was a late bloomer, but Tracy Britt Cool Consulting, my financial advisor helped me bring it all together and got me into crypto. Now retired for 6 years at 72, my managed portfolio with Tracy generates about 9k a month on average more than my RMD on my retirement accounts. Not real big, but together with SS we're able to live reasonably with 160k a year. While being mortgage free.

I live in Sweden and we have paid 5 weeks vacation every year. Some people even get 8 weeks. Depending on where you work or what position you have. But the least is getting 25 days paid vacation. We have free healthcare. Free education.
When me and my wife got our kid we got first of all the first 10 days paid being home taking care of the baby. Then my wife and I got 150 days each were stay home and get paid 60-80% paid on what we earn. And me as a father can decide if I want to give away 60 days to my wife if I want. The rest I am forced to take out and be a stay at home dad.
Yeah, as many Americans say, we pay more in taxes, but I rather pay that and have a society were we don’t have any poor homeless people and the difference between a higher class person and a working class isn’t that huge. We all have a house. We all eat the same quality of food. We can all get whatever education we want without being worried to have to pay for the education.
And many of the states in USA are now paying almost the same amount of taxes like here in Europe but you don’t get all the things we get.
Americans have to wake up and see how they are being fooled.

Some of our "left" is aware of this (in so far as "right" and "left" have cohesive meaning), but any case-making along the lines of what you're talking about gets tangled up in other issues. For one thing, from the outset, American conservatism, unlike European conservatism perhaps, has a fetish for the "free market", and when the left goes "centrist", the struggle is over. Identity politics are all over the place, with both major parties accusing the other of elitism in different ways. I could go on, but . . . the word on your system has gotten out.

Can't see who benefits that much. The govt just impoverishes its citizens so they cant stimulate the economy and if citizens turn to crime to fatten themselves up and slip up, inevitably, get caught and govt must extend expensive incarceration system. These are not governments for us, they are against us, our enemies, and we have to fight for our very lives to prevail against them.

As a result, people in China can buy things with their wages.
In the US, inflation is out of control. Most people are having difficulty paying for their groceries, getting their vehicles serviced, and paying for basic necessities.
Many people believe high property values are a good thing, but it is actually a bad thing. Higher property values means higher property taxes and higher home owners insurance. This is what the MM is touting as a big win. LOL

Everything is about timing. Tariffs would have saved the dollar. But now that our supply chains are long gone they will not help and make life even more unaffordable.

@sdrc92126 yup and it was true. This is so late in the game no matter what we do it will look bad. I don't agree with premise tariffs are bad on their face. They are actually good. When american became an economic powerhouse it had no income tax but high tariffs. We just can't implement that now without catastrophic consequences. We need to fix a lot of things first.
@@tedn6855 We can't implement anything now without catastrophic consequences. I've worked in multiple industries with suppliers that were destroyed, going in both directions, by tariffs. You can't plan your business and the expect major shifts like that.
Ultimately I think it helps the country country being targeted by the tariffs in the long run because it forces them to innovate, while the country collecting the tariffs stagnates. There is a good story about how Japan developed it's optic and camera industries because of German regulations and Zeiss IIRC.
Nothing would have saved the dollar besides having never have taken away the gold backing in the 70s. Our currency is fucking fake

People in trade know to check the sanctions list, or they 'could' be breaking the law.

Listening to Wolff is not only educational but also entertaining especially when he adds context to his point to drive it home, such qualities are rare and you know you have a good teacher in this case. All my life's most influential teachers had such qualities and it sticks with you throughout the journey.

China is an example of what CAN be done using wisdom and ingenuity. Viet Nam, Cambodia, Guatemala, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Gaza and Ukraine are few examples of what America HAS done during a similar period. America is fooling no one on the global stage, other than its own citizens.
