I did both hanging methods and, after just a couple of times trying each, I felt some relief in my shoulders. I will continue doing it and hopefully I won't be waking up at night with shoulder pain.
I highly recommend “Trigger Point Therapy” by Clair Davies (definitely beginner friendly.) He also created a “Frozen Shoulder” book, and it is wonderfully helpful. Edit to add: this book was specifically designed to help explain the Simmons and Travel magnum opus to the average person.
