Just rewatched this entire season. It was clear that all the performances in the live final were under-rehearsed compared to the other live shows. Understandably. The reason Gary and Leona are looking at each other here, is to keep her on track. He's a very generous and capable musician. That all being said, it's a truly astonishing testament to her talent that Leona upstaged Take That with a song she had barely rehearsed.

I love the fact that Gary Barlow is looking into her eyes when they are singing together. This is an amazing performance from both people, Leona and TakeThat and she is very lucky to have had that oppertunity to sing with them. Leona deserved to win.

the fact that Gary ALWAYS makes the song more about the act than himself is a testament to his character. he could have given a performance just as powerful as Leona's or even more - as he did on the Circus tour - but he chose to do what was best for Leona. in the end, the duet was amazing. and Gary was NOT fat! he was more cuddly than he is now, which makes him even more endearing.
I don't think Gary could of gave much more than Leona. She would of been heard anyway over him as she's in a completely different range and octave. Leona is a seprano singer and her range is higher than alot of singers. They both powerful singers Garry is brilliant but there would be no way Gary could try over sing Leona. But yea he had full respect and possibly just possibly turned it down a little but even the other take that singers where in shock by her power and range. Gary knew she was something special.
