5:30 - Listening to this again, I hear that you just couldn’t resist playing the those first 2 bars differently ahaha. I can’t blame you. That addition really gave an already awesome ending a bit more finesse.
Nice that you noticed! It felt convenient at the time. Though it's a dead giveaway that I gave up on the written fingering at that point. Unless you meant the LH an octave lower..
That ought to be one of the most absurd scores that have been brought before my eyes. I mean, the harmonies are very interesting and the piece is definitely wonderful music, but it seems to be written for a three-handed alien or something like that and less for a human.
I wanted to ask: What do you use to play this? I love the reverb on this performance, and I'm fairly certain you use a virtual instrument to play the inputs from a keyboard. Whenever I record my performances in the future, I would love for them to sound like this.
@@ejb7969since this is a continuous piece and not too long it was most likely made in one go, however when I record variations and parts with clear separation I might do it in a few takes and select what I like.
It's written a bit extreme, the tempo is probably intended to be a bit faster; "molto Allegro", while I keep it mostly at a semi-comfortable moderato. It's definitely possible to play it faster overall, though some parts are simply physically impossible.
Hello, Adam. Since this year, in which I have found my interest and liking for Méreaux, I have been fascinated by your performances of Méreaux` pieces. I would like to invite you to a project I founded at the start of August this year, The Méreaux Project. If you are also an admirer of his music, you would be a great help to our project! We have made great progress so far, finding many informations about Méreaux` life, career and works. But our main goal remains to spread the name of Méreaux into the classical music community, while the research about his life and such is important too. We have currently 12 people (including me) in this project, such as Seon-Yong Hwang, Gamma1734 and Demit. Those who are reading, too, can be a part of The Méreaux Project! As our "base of operations" we have got a discord server, which is the link to here: discord.gg/SJsPnSf I will wait for your answer. Thanks for reading! Sukitte
This sounds sooo much better compared to midis. Brilliant work!
My thought exactly!
Who is playing it? I can't seem to see the performer named anywhere.
@@michaeledwards1172 The guy who posted it, whose channel this is - Adam Englund. See his replies to some of the comments.
Holy shit, this is an incredibly difficult etude and you played it superbly!! Wonderful job :)
listen to Czerny's fugue etude 10 from Op.399

Musically his best etude.

It's an etude. They're supposed to be really hard.
Very good! And best of all the video is 5:55 long, matches the number 55. Sorry this caught my attention too much xD
And "Etude" has 5 letters!
Have same vibe of Ligeti's devil's staircase

I use PianoTeq as software and play on an acoustic/midi hybrid
I have a restored 1855 Alexandre Debain piano here, so I know how Meraux himself would have heard his compositions.
Wait - does that mean this performance has edits? I assumed it was a live performance.

Far more perspiration than inspiration
Pianist sounds exhausted by the 2nd page..
Yes.
