There’s no way I would trust that second Athletic Greens website over your client’s. It looks like a personal blog and “greesn” at the end is spelled wrong! What is Google thinking with this one?

Thanks Marie ... as someone who edited and ghost wrote for print magazines way back in the printing press days in the early 2000's, our goal was always to start with the needs of the reader and how we could most easily catch their attention in the first column [3 paragraphs or its equivalent in on page size] and just as importantly with the opening image. I worked in sustainable tech, environmental management, and sustainable aid development and our readership was often so varied that if an article couldn't tell its story immediately we couldn't get the "read through" our partners paid us to get. Its funny because we would use tables, pro's and con's, quick summaries, and my favorite "the quick takeaway" to capture their attention and convince them we had their backs. Does this sound familiar? If user intent is now the basis for intent based search then I think we are just seeing the algo's catching up to the past where reader needs and their journey to capturing an understanding of said issue / challenge / opportunity reigned supreme in the minds of editors, writers, and perhaps most importantly graphic designers. And yes ... graphic designers were the real creatives that brought everything to life. I'd be interested to see your thoughts and for you to explore how important images, page layout, and now more than ever 'image search' is as a traffic source and ranking factor given this current digital rerun of print medias halcyon days. I am not spamming you here but Mike Blumenthal had something to say about this here .. ducttapemarketing.com/images-in-google-search/. Many thanks

I think you're right! Those who know how to captivate the attention of searchers are going to be the winners. You've got a super power.

Thanks Marie. If I understood correctly, you said that Google is prioritising posts that meet readers' needs more quickly. What would that mean for recipe blogs since we almost always put the recipe card at the bottom?

It feels like to me that Google is just trying to meet the needs / wants of their searchers.
I think that what many users consider to be helpful has changed. I am not sure the average searcher cares as much about the expertise of the author as we would like to believe. They just want the fastest answer to their question. Think like the kind of answer you would get if you asked the question to Alexa or Google Assistant using voice.

Hi Marie, all of these tips seem like copywriting techniques. How does google understand the content, it’s still unclear? Can you please let me know if I’m missing anything.
