So with shades eq can I just throw something like a 9v all over unlike the lifting toner? Im a level 8 yellow on top and level 7-7.5 muted orange/ yellow on bottom. My overal goal is to achieve a dark blonde.
But… if I am toning on a level 5 that is already dark and I want to refresh the color not darkening should I go a level up or the same level in eq shades?
Hi I'm nearly fully grey naturally like salt an pepper but want to have like baby highlights with platinum blonde toner can you bleach your own grey hair an tone it x
I tried using a darker toner. All of my blonde hair became brown just using a level 8. I had to do highlights again and now am afraid to use anything but the lightest brcause even if I inly put toner on the roots all my hair soaks it up when rinsing it.
I'm turning 15 on the 29th, and my aunt just did a balayage on me. However, it's still a dark caramel orange, and I want it to be cool-toned. What toner would you recommend that only deposits the color without lightening my natural hair? Also, I'm probably going to bleach my hair again in three weeks to lighten it more since it's still pretty dark. Please help and respond! Thanks! Also I’ve tried t18 bc the lady told me to get it at Sally’s😭 I knew it wasn’t good for my hair color but i still got it
Can you please tell me what can be done if the hair is 50% grey or if it’s 80% grey. The clients natural shade is a 6 and desired shade is a 10. How can I achieve the blonde without having any orange yellow at the roots.
It sounds like either the toner used had lift in it- and a second process on your scalp was too much! OR, you were slightly allergic to your color and after washing it off your follicles become a little more open and exposed to discomfort.
I highlighted my hair and came out a little yellow but wanted ashy/platinum blonde So I used sally's 9v with their activator and now I have dark brown hair. Where did I go wrong?
I got my hair done at a really nice salon in soho ny but I feel like my blonde might be too bright for me. What blonde do you recommend for someone with tan skin/Indian skin ?
PPD , 30s going gray not by choice. Tried a home bleach kit , my hands started getting itchy red. Didn't put on hair just in case. What's the alternative sensative skin. Use to do my hair all the time, its upsetting crazy I can't do anything anymore.
I had my hair professionally balayage 2 weeks ago. I walked in with roots at a level 5 with grey regrowth on top only. ( I was box coloring to cover grays top regrowth only) I have long hair that natural faded to mid 6 ends 7. She lifted with foils and got to a nice light yellow at ends, some areas became warmth. I wanted to be a level 8 beige blonde baylage with 7 light ash brown root smudge and roots ashy 6. I don’t know what she did but when she toned me she made me dark again with copper like 5/6. Way too warm. Do you think I need to rebleach with foils? I have some grey regrowth so I was thinking 6n and 8na 20 volume, what root smudge and toner for the foil areas? ? Again beige blonde ash light brown is my goal. It’s only been two weeks… think it’s enough time before bleaching again?I’m going to use bond with bleach. What are your thoughts? Thank you! Love your advice…❤ your hair coloring is my goals!! Do you think it’s too much a hurdle for a level 5/6 with grays coming in? Thank you 🙏🏼

I am about 50% gray and color my hair with permanent 7na or 6na color. When I have it straightened with Keratin it turns bright orange. Does anyone else have this issue?
HELP, I’m going on vacation tomorrow and now instead of dark brown I very mistakenly went with light brown and a little bit of red. Sooo, it looks so horrible. I recolored it with dark brown and a red remover additive. Looks better but barley! I was going for a balayage look so upset I’ve spent hours working on this just to look horrible. 😢
I have been to millions salon and no one has done my blonde right. I m tired to keep trying, All I want is to tone it down to golden blonde but not too golden, like 9 with some golden shimmers. My hair got balayed to a level 7-8. My hair looks so yellow and I want to try toning it myself to look more ashy. Right now I am looking at getting a demi permanent medium ash blonde. Any recommendations?
Good afternoon Silvia, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and skills with us. I love your videos. For the generic brand from Sally, which volume developer should I use so it doesn’t change my base color?
From what I gather, she is saying it won’t work. She said if you tone with a level any higher than your hair is lifted, there will be no toning results. If you use a level 10 toner on your level 9 hair, your hair won’t be bright enough for the color of the toner to deposit. In other words, your hair will be too dark to be able to see the color deposit of a level 10 toner. If you’re a level 9, she is saying to use a level 8. It’s confusing, I know lol
@@teeeff8337 it's really confusing, I just can't tell how light my hair is and it seems I will have to buy toners for several levels.. which i dont like lol
@@teeeff8337 yes, doesn't do much. I want to try blue shampoo next because I think I see some orangey shades in my hair and if thats true I think that means it's not as light, but my natural colour is already a level 7-8 sooo.. my highlights have to be level 9 at least . I wonder if maybe my not colorsafe shampoo has been stripping some of the color away
@@sobean9309 Sounds like you’re on the right track to figuring it out. I believe your hair must be at least a level 9 for purple shampoo to really do anything. So if it’s not doing much, your hair either has not reached a level 9 yet.. or yes, the brassiness of your hair pulls more orangey tones and a blue shampoo would do a much better job. Being blonde ain’t easy, is it lol
Hi! I love your videos and have been following you for years. I am a lift ash blonde (with a history of bleach, semi permanent hair color also). I recently bought shades eq for blondes level 9 and 10 but am afraid to use them on my hair. Should I try get rid of the old color first before using them? What is the best way? Thank you! #FAN4LIFE
@Ellebangs Question: I have virgin hair and I've been wanting to go from level 3 to level six for my base, and then do balayage highlights after that. But ... I'm guessing the base is going to get red or brassy in the future when the color fades, because I would have lifted it with color. And this means I'll be super stuck, because with my highlights being lighter than my base, I won't be able to use a toner to knock down the brassiness of the base color when it goes brassy. Do I have this right? If I'm correct then I really wonder how the heck they do JLo's color!! It seems like her base is lighter than her natural color, and she has highlights. But her base never becomes brassy/red.

They do need developers they just don't use the standard 10,20,30 vol developers and they call them activating lotions instead. Redkens activating lotion is around 7 vol and it absolutely does lift some hair. I am a level 6 with a lot of underlying red pigment in my hair and toners lift my level 6 to orange. Look at her hair at the top and fringe you can see it on her as well. I am fed up of hairdressers saying it's deposit only. Not on my hair. Damn I used Guy Tang semi permanent so called deposit only toner which the activating lotion is only supposed to be 5 vol and that lifted my hair to orange as well.

Hello so for toners u don’t need 10 developer??? Did I hear this correct?? For deposit for the blonde?
The ones that u showed the toners those don’t need developer
So with shades eq can I just throw something like a 9v all over unlike the lifting toner? Im a level 8 yellow on top and level 7-7.5 muted orange/ yellow on bottom. My overal goal is to achieve a dark blonde.
How do I do a deposit-only tone? I don’t see any RUclips videos specifically for that.
How do u make a 25 developer Ty
But… if I am toning on a level 5 that is already dark and I want to refresh the color not darkening should I go a level up or the same level in eq shades?
Hi I'm nearly fully grey naturally like salt an pepper but want to have like baby highlights with platinum blonde toner can you bleach your own grey hair an tone it x
I tried using a darker toner. All of my blonde hair became brown just using a level 8. I had to do highlights again and now am afraid to use anything but the lightest brcause even if I inly put toner on the roots all my hair soaks it up when rinsing it.
best toner to darken gray hair to blonde?
If I am dying my hair a vivid color like pink do I need to tone?
Silvia, I just had my hair colored professionally and the toner BURNED my scalp. I couldn't tolerate it. Any advice on why this would happen?
It sounds like either the toner used had lift in it- and a second process on your scalp was too much! OR, you were slightly allergic to your color and after washing it off your follicles become a little more open and exposed to discomfort.
I highlighted my hair and came out a little yellow but wanted ashy/platinum blonde So I used sally's 9v with their activator and now I have dark brown hair. Where did I go wrong?
I got my hair done at a really nice salon in soho ny but I feel like my blonde might be too bright for me. What blonde do you recommend for someone with tan skin/Indian skin ?
So how long does it take to get a consultation from the time we send the email?
Awesome nice explanation! i would hv turned my beautiful light brown color to orange if i didnt watch ur video lol
Brassy yellow hair looks better than any colo
Can you use a semi permanent dye as a toner? I feel like Sally’s doesn’t have toners dark enough for levels below a lifted level 8. (:
Wella Demi Permanent Colors are great toners. They’re available at Sally’s or Amazon!
Yes. I believe she has a video of this! She uses a Demi with activating lotion.
PPD , 30s going gray not by choice. Tried a home bleach kit , my hands started getting itchy red. Didn't put on hair just in case. What's the alternative sensative skin. Use to do my hair all the time, its upsetting crazy I can't do anything anymore.
Bleach/developer is really caustic, you have to use gloves or you’ll get burned.
Thank you 🙏🏼
I'm in the same boat, did you figure this out?
You can book a private consultation with Sylvia. This is way to complicated for RUclips comments.
I would try t27 beige toner and 07na for root smudge if you are looking for the same colors the other lady is wanting.
I would like to send you a picture. It was recommended to me to put on a med ash blonde on my roots so I did. I want to now add blond and tone down the warm color in my hair. 🤦🏼♀️
Go to her website to request a personal consultation.
I really loved your video Silvia and learned something from you, as always. The best part though, was when black metal Nichole came in and made an azz out of herself.
What it if was lightened enough but she toned it and it got way darker ? Can I use a different toner now to fix this????
Omg yes every time they highlight I’m a level 5 my stylist highlighted foils but covered with level 8&9N 😮 I wish I could show pics she is using a color remover today to correct it
Am I able to book appointment with you to have you color and cut my hair? I live in Southern California
Hi love, I am currently not taking clients. I offer virtual consults however, you can email consultations@ellebnags.com
Next time maybe don’t do it at the last minute…
I have been to millions salon and no one has done my blonde right. I m tired to keep trying, All I want is to tone it down to golden blonde but not too golden, like 9 with some golden shimmers. I been coloring my own roots at home to color the gray with 9N n 10N n a little 10G n 20 developer, which is good, but it gets way too light from the sun very quickly. HELP pls. Thnx
My hair got balayed to a level 7-8. My hair looks so yellow and I want to try toning it myself to look more ashy. Right now I am looking at getting a demi permanent medium ash blonde. Any recommendations?
I have the same problem 😕 any luck fixing it??help please
Good afternoon Silvia, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and skills with us. I love your videos.
For the generic brand from Sally, which volume developer should I use so it doesn’t change my base color?
What happens if my hair is a level 9 and I use a level 10 toner? Will it still lighten to a level 9 or have absolutely no effect at all?
@@sobean9309 have you tried using a good purple shampoo?
Why is it so difficult to find info on colors of blonde. Example What’s platinum or cool?
Unfortunately most toner brands simply don't have the level on the packaging.
Hi! I love your videos and have been following you for years. I am a lift ash blonde (with a history of bleach, semi permanent hair color also). I recently bought shades eq for blondes level 9 and 10 but am afraid to use them on my hair. Should I try get rid of the old color first before using them? What is the best way? Thank you! #FAN4LIFE
I llove redken
Always blond ,,when will red hair color come a cross..???
They probably put color and also bleached pieces
❤️❤️❤️
❤❤❤❤❤
What toner, and haircolor do you use on your hair?
I love the shade of it!
She uses Redken
🙏
Oh my good, words words and so many words l forgot what it was l was watching. Absolutely no reality to it. You showed us nothing, no product, no technique, you simply kept waffling on at such a rate l was dizzy. Get organised or get off.
Wow she took the time ( her time) to try to educate. And after so many failed attempts ( I have not had my hair done one time to how I wanted it in years from professionals. They mess it up so bad and then I try to fix it and make it worse. But after 1000 videos ( I literally started with this one years ago, but didn't have any foundation to grasp any of it then; it just hit me now and saved me as to why my nice dark brown root is now orangish!!! Thank God for her and I'm sorry your so miserable with your life that u feel the need to try to break someone's spirit who didn't do a thing to u! U didn't have to watch it. No one forced u and u can clearly see in the comments how many she helped. I hope and pray u find your peace inside and stop having all that anger and hatred inside. I don't wish that on no one its truly a horrible feeling and state of mind to be in. I know from experience. Your looking at videos that relate to looking good and feeling good about yourself; well sorry to say u will age very fast holding onto all that negativity. Hurt people hurt people. I'm saying this to myself too right now.... I may not try to intentionally cause harm but I've been very negative lately with self talk especially and just not myself or feel right at all. Thank you for making me aware again so I can try to change my thoughts and try to be more myself. Im so tired of being miserable and angry lately. Sorry for my rant. I get passionate over these things. U never know what someone is going through and your harsh words can be their last. God Bless.
You’re so rude! Maybe you should do a video! She is Amazing in every video she does.
I understood nothing 🥹
I was today years old when I found out there are toners that don’t need developers. I think that’s what I took from this video 🫣
