There have been some recent strategies that say that when calling to follow up just hang up when reaching voicemail and try back another time rather than leave a message that becomes low priority. Also, with most phone systems, IT can pull the records to see if the called party answered the call, transferred it, let it go to voicemail, etc. Most such positions require a voice mail log to be kept and they would expect to see a log of such calls over a certain period. If the called party is simply ignoring most or all calls or deleting messages, this will nail them real quick.

I left an extremely friendly and positive voicemail after 10 days of not hearing anything back. Still no callback. No shade to you sir who made this video this isn’t your fault that’s BS it’s all about communication ,no one wants to be held up in limbo or feeling not valuable and stupid it’s a matter of communication. To send an email or a quick text letting people know what’s going on take very very little time and effort. The biggest thing I gained from this video if you say just because you don’t hear anything after the interview does not mean they are not interested and I thank you for that. BUT they STILL need to communicate!

This is a red flag. If you have to reach out to an employer multiple times and you get a job offer, don’t be surprised when you are an employee and they take weeks and weeks to follow up with you regarding other issues... this seems like bad business. I’m sure a company such is this has a high turn over rate.

i never call employers after interviews even when they tell we will call you . there is 2 scenario :
1- they are not interested , so why should i call them , if they are not interested or they find a better candidate ??
2- they are too busy . so if i call them , they will be annoyed , because they have stuff more important than my case . besides , they will see me as desperate , as someone who is harrasing them
Conclusion : if they ghost you , you ghost them !! you don't stop searching until you get an official offer ( not an oral offer but a written offer )

This is something I'm currently going through right now while I'm currently working at a job I hate. I had an interview for a position that aligned with what I went to college for last Thursday, and I thought it went pretty well. I demonstrated how much of a hard worker I tend to be and willing to learn new things and do the work. I told them my potential starting date, which is this coming Monday, considering they need someone right away. They also told me they'll notify me either Friday of last week or Tuesday at the latest, which is today (They were off yesterday because it was President's Day). I've been checking my email all day today, and I haven't heard a word from them. I want to take it as a "No," but from what you're saying in the video, it gives me quite of a hope, and it helps me to keep an open mind. While I applied for other jobs, I'm hoping to get the one I recently went for an interview for because it's something that'll help me to jump start my IT Career. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I beg to disagree with all these things. I usually send follow-ups a week after the interview and still no reply. Stop cheering us up with all these lies. • @MikeTXBC
    @MikeTXBC 2 года назад +5

This doesn't address the issue I have, however. At the end of EVERY interview, I specifically ask them if they'll get back to me even if I don't get the job. Every single hiring manager has said "yes!" in some clearly understood form or another. However, they NEVER do. I'm not exaggerating here. They ALWAYS promise and they NEVER follow through on that promise.
Obviously, I want to be hired, but this isn't even about that. It's about employers showing the most basic level of decency and common courtesy to do what you said you would. People often respond here with, "Well, you dodged a bullet, who'd want to work in a place like that anyway?" I'd agree if this was an anomaly, but it's actually the norm, so it gets to a point where you either think that no company is worth working for (and there are those who promote that line of thinking) or you end up having to endure countless waves of dishonesty.
Let me be clear here: I'm not upset at not getting the job. My issue here is simply that if someone promises they'll do something, they should do it. If employers have no intention of ever getting back to candidates they've interviewed who don't make the cut, that's fine, but TELL ME. Don't act like you'll do something you'll never do.
Unfortunately, expecting people to be honest and keep to their word seems to be a hopeless endeavor, so at this point, I don't trust anything any hiring manager says because no hiring manager has ever given me reason to trust them. Some people would say that I shouldn't let bad experiences color my interactions, but at what point do I go from "keeping an open mind" to "acting like a naive fool" when I'm repeatedly lied to or misled?

I just had this situation happened to me and it's scary because the place I applied it was basically a 2 week process where there was an interview and then a tasting, both of them went great and they even gave me good points and when they said they would let me know what they decided they didn't so I emailed them and told me they weren't going to move forward, not only was I blindsided because they never said anything bad but I was extremely disappointed because places nowadays are very untrusting of employees and they want to see how you work but they don't understand that we also have needs and as employees and we can't invest so much time in a interview process. What also bothered me is that they couldn't even tell me why I wasn't chosen. I felt like I deserved at least that. It really is discouraging.

From my experience, I can get a good idea if a company would be a good fit. Some throw attitude if you follow up with them, some make you do a 200+ question assessment that I honestly think if it has nothing to do with the job, what’s the point. Luckily I dodged a bullet with a company that wanted to give me the “job offer” after a 410 questionnaire regarding medical sales. Not a single medical question asked, after reading horrible employee reviews about the company, I told them this questionnaire is more of a headache than I want to put up with. And the fact I had to fill it out manually and scan everything back was another massive headache. So I told them although I appreciate their time, I’m rescinding my application and 2nd phase interview because the questionnaire was too much of a headache for me to deal with... I mean 410 questions... asking me about gambling and that I should circle yes when I don’t even gamble... seriously???

Sometimes HR can get backed up at big companies and you are not always the first priority on their list. Especially in summer and during busy times of the year. Normally after a week I write them off if I don't hear back but I know a co-worker of mine who literally followed up like 3 times and got hired almost 3 months after they started the interview process. So yeah, 80 % of the time they haven't called because you didn't get the job but sometimes HR is just backlogged or a manager may be on vacation or something that needs to sign off on an offer letter.

I am in a similar situation, I had 2 rounds of interview done, (brilliantly performed) the 2nd one was the Managerial round, and with everything went perfect, I was told by the Manager that I will be contacted next week, and that never happened. The HR called back the following week and informed there will be another round of discussion based on the panel availability. This is the 4th week post the 2nd round of interview, and I haven't heard anything after that. I had called again the HR to enquire about my candidature, and she seems to be not interested to pick up my call. When I see my status in the organization portal (candidate page), it shows the "Application is still under review" . Any pointers, what should be done next? I have 2 options left now...(1) - Email the HR and ask for the status (I am pretty much sure, there won't be any response) and (2) I found the Manager who took my 2nd round, on LinkedIn and can message (send Inmail) him. Again not sure if that will be rude as the Manager is my 3rd connection in LinkedIn. Any suggestions ? TIA

This is common practice these days, they are afraid of a follow up as they could say the wrong thing about why you did not get the job (slip of the lip syndrome). So their law/legal do not want any further contact with prospective applicants if they were not chosen.

I'm going through this right now. I interviewed last month and everything went well. The HR person asked if I could interview with the hiring manager.
I then contacted the HR person twice and he told me that the position is on hold because the manager was allocating the work.
Not sure if they're still interested in me.

Went to an interview Monday and didn't do that great first round, actually bombed it some, went on a tour with the floor manager which was a defacto second interview and a litmus to see if I would like it and was compatible, I did like but didn't say anything and then kicking myself because I really want to get in. It is a very good company to work for in my area, and it would give me an opportunity to move up which I did not have in my last job. Going to call them back and leave a message. It's been over 2 days and I do know that they need workers.

My interview went well, the owner said “let’s proceed; I need three references and a driver’s abstract.” I provided everything they needed. Every few days the editor reaches out to me and says “just checking in to make sure you sent everything in to the boss?” I said yes…and reminded him my references are waiting for a call. No calls to my references - 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

My last job interview went really well I felt, I even sent a thank you email to them after. They said they would call me in a week which was last Saturday but I still haven’t heard back from them. I really hope they’re still considering me for hire.

I had three interviews with the same company and they all went very well. The last interview was with the president and it seemed that it went very well. He said that the hiring recruiter will be in touch with you in a week. Never heard back.

Hello. I had a 2nd job interview with a major company about 4 weeks ago. The interview went well and I asked at the end when should I expect a response from them, which they said maybe two weeks. After two weeks, I haven't heard anything and sent a followup email. I've repeated this process 3 times with no response from the recruiter. I was able to make contact with the department head for the position I was aiming for, but they told me I would be informed by the recruiter for any followups. How should I proceed next? Should I call? On as side note, my first interview was with the recruiter and she admitted she is new to the position. She informed me the department head was also the hiring manager, but when i made contact with the department head, they informed me I was to receive all info from the recruiter for the next phase of the hiring process. I'm so confused.

Employers need to be seen and called back and have them answer up as to why they did not call back.

Well, I did an interview yesterday they said I'll tell my boss to hire you and they said they will give me a link for my background check once I was finished with that I'll start but, every time when they "said" the link was sent I didn't receive but, I know for a fact my email is working my brother was sending me links it was working perfectly I don't know why is this a way of saying no? It's Jack in a box job by the way.

Yes and that is precisely what many of us have done dozens of times; leaving voicemail messages, leaving messages with reception, even dropping by in person, and what happens? Precisely nothing. No response to those attempts either.

This is pretty good advice. There are times when employers don't get back to you because they're not interested but it is certainly possible that there are issues in their end, especially during covid. I had a situation where I hadn't heard back after 1 month and I eventually contacted them only to find out that I got the position but they just had some administration issues and a covid outbreak which delayed things longer than they expected. Definitely follow up after one week (or whatever time period they gave you) has passed after the interview.

I had an employer tell me that they no longer do it by phone, because a lot of people don't take rejection too well, to the extent that he got abuse, death threats and threats of lawsuits for rejecting them. He claimed it almost bordered on stalker levels in a couple of cases.
I have noticed that when I am rejected, it is always by text or e-mail (where you can't respond to it) but every offer has been by phone call or in person, to personally offer me the job.
So it is as much based on the method as anything to let you know how you went.

Okay, so what if the interview went really well but they didn’t say they’d call you, they just said you should hear something in a week or two and it’s been three?
I know one of only 3 candidates interviewed.
