I have done several . Put real JD bearings in a few lately, but was not that impressed with them . The jd bearing did not feel smooth out of the package on the last set i got.
Now that's an interesting and informative video. I've never worked on one of those. Most of the stuff I work on is MTD regardless of the name on the machine. Thank you for sharing your time and experience 😊
Some people just aren't happy unless they're complaining. So just keep up the good work we love watching your videos maybe a little bit more with the dogs would be nice I love having my dogs in the shop when I'm working on the mowers☺☺☺
I learned there is so much crud built up on the shafts after years of use. Can't really see it. I run the shafts on a wire wheel of the grinder to remove that crud. Then the shafts will slide in fairly easy. Wire wheel should not damage those shafts they are hard metal.
Thanks for the video. My deck is pretty tired but I keep welding in patches and it keeps on going. The bearings are getting loud so I need to do this job. One of these years I'll need to replace the deck.
I take the inside plastic seal out before I install the baring. That will allow grease to get into the baring balls and cage. Never had a problem, and the bearing gets fresh grease.
Yes, I have done that also in the past. John Deere bearing have a steel seal and not rubber its not as easy to remove the John Deere seal. Thanks for watching
the carriage bolts usually spin when i try to remove them , causing me to have to grind them off . i've found that they almost always will hold if you tighten till they wring off . requires new bolts , but faster/easier . also, you can grind the outside of an old bearing down , and use it as a bearing driver . use eye/hand protection , as they can shatter .
Hello my friend, word of advice before putting the bearing into the housing. Put a little lube on it and makes a big difference. Thanks for the good videos.
HELLO MY INPUT TAKE IT OR NOT, I know that we all have different values, when you're into as much as you are! how about some cleaning.OR AM I WRONG,, CAREING HOW IT LOOKS WHEN DONE.
àfter..i have disassemble d them..like you did i then remove the three bolts and take the cast iron housing from the deck then clean spindles on wire brush and reasemble them on the press i remove inner seals from new bearings and fill the cast housings with lithium grease
I have trouble finding the part no. on these things. I have a lot of wasted efforts returning them not allways possible. Can you give us part no. on these?
have to disagree with your theory , if spindles have grease fittings you grease until it comes out of the ends of spindles , will take like 40 or so pumps the first time to fill cavity first , they are not "seals" on bearings they are dust covers , grease goes right past them and threw yer bearing , intact a guy has a vid on here to prove that fact using different colour grease , you have to remember a grease gun puts out 10 000 psi and the covers are in there so loose ya can pick them out with yer fingernail , they are not actually "sealed "bearings also when pounding out berrings don't just hammer on one side take your time and hit 4 sides gently and evenly , what you just did is egg out the hole from forcing bearing out from one side , now new bearings will be loose in there and you may end up with a spun bearing and then the spindle will be junk .
I wish I would have found your video before starting my bearing replacement. It would have saved me a lot of time and money. Great video!
Great video, doing bearings in the deck looks like a good idea. Thanks for sharing that’s how I will do mine!!
Can tell you have been a mechanic for a long long time 😮
Thanks and happy retirement someday 😊

I agree. I got caught up on making the video I missed some steps. I should redo this video

This is great, I just pulled my spindles off the deck but now I might throw them back on to hold everything in place while I beat the crap out of it.
Hey man. Another Canadian here. Amazing content. Subscribed.
Who ever said ball brging doesn’t need to be greased often is not truthful person
I’m not in the part sales business just save money
things looked good but those spindles went in the new bearings harder than they came out thanks for the info
Yes they did.
Did you sand the shafts good??
If you do they will go in pretty easy
Use 180 grit emeny cloth one inch wide

I buy eBay brging
They last very good and are cheaper plus easy to remove covers
I buy 200 at a time
These people don't take of their mowers. They never seem to clean them. Wonder if their car look like the mower?
Nice work
@26:50, 😖 maybe take a minute and clean the parts and housing before reassembly.🤔
Well done bud. Thanks for the video.
Great honest hard work and determination ❤
Thank you!

Where can I contact you to get new bearings already installed in cast housings
smallenginegarage@yahoo.com
I cussed for ya!
You might try freezing the shaft that the blade attaches to
That would absolutely make a difference, I should have lubed it up also. I was too involved in recording and missed a few steps.
