hunter bailey haha! YES! Instead of that God awful Diana Ross wanna be wig, and the tacky overdone disco look. She literally is running out of ideas. And I find that to be a good thing for her. When she stops putting on these fake personas, she'll just have herself to offer. Then we'll get to know the true artist she is. Everything she's done up to now has been tainted with her shock tactics, which weren't needed! She CAN sing. She CAN write good music. Speechless might be my all time favorite. I love just seeing her and a piano. Just a simple classic dress, timeless hair, and natural beauty. Let the music be the focus. I think that's why ArtPop has turned into the circus sideshow that it is. Because the music on the album isn't up to par. She can do better and she knows it. So she makes the focus of the album more about art than the music. I mean having a chick puke on her during a live show? That's NOT art. I know art is subjective, and some may disagree. The girl (whatever her name is) does represent what she does, swallowing paint and puking back up onto a canvas, as art. I think because of the fact the girl is insanely thin, and that girls have a hard enough time the days feeling good about the way their bodies look. So to call what she does art, it is offensive to me. But my problem is with Gaga feeling she needs to bring that into her show. And grind the chick on a mechanical bull, while the chick CONTINUES to puke on her. That's one step away from two girl one cup. When you have to add that to your performance to make it worth seeing, you are no longer taking the music seriously, and you are just trying to get attention any way you can, good or bad. OKAY, SORRY I WENT OFF ON A RAMPAGE AND WROTE AN ESSAY. I get that all the time on RUclips comments. I know I talk a lot. I'm sorry. I'm just very opinionated and say what I feel. I can definitely see why they chose Lorde to sing this, her general song style and herself really fits the message of the hunger games and Katniss, in love it.
i think she's the perfect artist for the hunger games series, especially for this book, i can feel that she's put her soul into the song and the way she dances, she feels the music and i absolutely love that about her her "pure heroine" album is still one of my favourites, there's something mesmerizing about her voice, i just can't get enough of it

ikr there is an intangible quality to this song, to all Lorde's songs tbh, that is sooo different from what I've heard before. I can't really put it into words, it's indescribable.
I've always loved that line, the delivery is perfect. It has a bit of an ambiguous meaning and feel to it, too. I always saw it as fame turning into a type of "notoriety" that's associated more with having power people don't want you to have than anything truly negative. Looking back at the lyric now, the meaning actually feels more literal, like the path she's taken herself in life. She definitely has distanced herself from the media (definitely social media) and seems more content to be a whispered name than one that's shouted.

There is some thing that is nothing but full of reality & sort of other things that can be explained through Lorde's own philosophy that made me to be one of those people who loves her. For me, she seemed to be so much real & always ready to put herself into something without mixing it up with other unnecessary & sugar coating things. Lorde always gives us her "obra maestra" everytime she perfoms & even there are hindrances that are throwing her, she is just keeping on showing us who she really is & what she stands for. The song is not ugly, her dance is not a crap & her performance is full of emotions, & Lorde wants us to receive the message of the song the symbols used in the video. I salute & thank you Ms. Lorde for being who you are & sharing the talent that you have.
Exactly! It shows how closed minded people can be when they say "omg why is she dancing liek dat? So wierd lel". She's just getting into it. Same thing with how people give the front man from Future Islands shit, he does this almost dorky looking dance when he's performing. He's just being a good front man and letting the ebb and flow of the music take him over. That's what a performer should do, it's adds a lot of color to a performance.
@@attyninigarado818 yes!! I just heard!! I'm so excited, I can't wait!! and I really hope the rumours are true and she releases her new album this summer.
The whole video is a metaphore. Lorde wearing the black suit represents Katniss rational part, the red suit represents her emotions, the black dress represents her courage and the white suit her kindness and hopes. In the first part we can see her rational part singing quietly, then, her emotions are in a empty road full of fog representing her confussion about love, until she starts her erratic dancing we can see the black suit starts dancing as well. Katniss is starting to show her emotions. Then the red suit is dancing in the middle of a circle full of lights, telling us the overexposure of her feelings by the capitol. Lorde with the black dress, first she is smiling with the people next to her "pretending to be one of then", as she walks through the party, she throws herself to the void. She can´t be one of them anymore, now Katniss is the face of the rebellion, the mockinjay. Like the song says, "they used to shout my name, now they whisper it" They are afraid of her. Her emotions now dance behind a curtain, she is containing her feelings beacuse she needs to be strong. Her rational part is messed up, she is becoming insane. Finally her kindness and hopes waits peacefully for the games to finally end. Epic video, absolutely love it. Hope Lorde makes the soundtrack for the next movie.
This woman has created her own style, she is in tuned with herself, and her soul. you could tell by the way she dances, sings, and moves. A good spirit!
Chipped Diamond I feel like her music video concepts are more inspired by Lorde, her music has much more piano and Lorde is more synth (well her first album at least)
Why do people hate on Lorde? She's not afraid to be herself. So her dancing is not like others but it proves she's being herself. It's her style. We grow up on the "idea" of what dancing should be but in my opinion everyone can dance wether it fits the idea or not. So her dancing isn't in the "idea" but it's HER. That's why I love Lorde. She stays true to herself. We need more singers like her.
To all of those who keep making fun of LORDE's dance moves, STOP IT. She is not some mold that society has created, and good for her! She really gets in touch with the flow of the music and the spirit of the music, that explains her movements. So please stop making fun of her dance moves, and who are you to judge??? Are you the best dancer in the world? I doubt it, and even if you were, you have no right to make fun of her or judge her for flow of dancing. All life is sacred, show all respect. ~ Tristan Silverwolf
Thank you! I love Lorde so much and I'm glad to see someone saying something about it. It's her way of performing. And haters who need to get a life watch it JUST to make fun of her. I mean, it's her life, her decision, and frankly, I don't think she gives a fuck about haters. Neither do I.
Lorde's eccentricity is so amazing. I love that she's different and doesn't do the same usual beat with the same usual music video with the same dumb lyrics we hear over and over again. Lorde haters can stop because they clearly can't appreciate, REAL MUSIC.
How incredibly pretentious. If someone doesn't like this music (or prefers something else) their taste in music is fake. Because your taste is always the "good taste." That's why it's _your_ taste, right? You are authentic. They are not. No one ever believes they're the wacky neighbor in someone else's sitcom... Can't you just appreciate something without having to invalidate someone else?
TheKingsHeree Ah - but therein lies the rub! Define " _bullshit_ ." That's really what I took issue with. What is bullshit to you is golden to others - and vice-versa. "One man's garbage..." and such. Although I'm not a big fan, I can see the redeeming qualities in Lorde's music. But just as many people have a deep connection to her music, people connect to that repetitive, mindless "big booty" pop that dominates the airwaves now. (I'm taking an educated guess that was what you meant by "bullshit." Right?) It has redeeming qualities, too. Just not for you. There's no need to insinuate that it's "fake" and diminish it's fans, like they're some sort of sub-human ignoramus who "can't comprehend MY amazing taste in music..." Adding labels like 'real' and 'fake' outright dismiss it, and that's not really fair. I used to be guilty of it, too. I love classic rock, and used to say that rap wasn't real music. But it speaks to a Hell of a lot of people, because it's bigger than ever. Even I am a fan of some rap now. Sure, most of it is gratuitously shallow. (I don't think it ever claimed to be otherwise.) But some folks need 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' in their life more than they need 'Citizen Kane.' [Honestly, I haven't gotten a lot of sleep. We just had a fairly big earthquake here. So I hope that makes sense.] I'm not trying to bash you at all, King - so I hope you didn't take it like that. Perhaps I'm trying to explain an epiphany that I had one day, when I realized that there are people in the world who don't like the Beatles or The Who. [Wha? How?!? That is good, real music! ;-) ] But I would absolutely rather hang out with someone who listens to Lorde than, say, Iggy Azalea. They seem more interesting to talk with. But it's all opinion. None of those artists' music are any more real than the others. Just different strokes.. Different life experiences speak to different people. Music should make you think, feel, or both. Some prefer feel instead think. [read between the lines on what that means.. ;-) ] We like what we like, _because_ we like it! ;-) That is what makes it good. Also, it may not be only the "bullshit" fans who hate Lorde. It may be the aged 30+ old fogeys who don't quite relate to it, or find a youthful naiveté in her music. I may have outed my old self here. :-) (Except I don't really hate any artist. No room or time for hate.) Sorry for the monologue. Might be time for a nap now. Yes.. fuzzy blankets and comfy pillows... Take care, King!
Here is what I love about this video. She looks like Katherine Hepburn in the first scene. Or possibly the girl from Blade Runner. The hair, the classy shirt, the slacks, classic! The gas lamp and the wallpaper, with the scrolling black and white t.v. cast all of these amazing reflections. Then the brief scene where she is at the bus stop in the white and all the panels reflect the white. All of it is very visually interesting and makes the subliminal part of your mind branch out while hearing the lyrics. Vocally and musically it is complex. She uses a derivation of Tibetan throat singing as the undertone, then interjects the melody which is rich in double meaning. When she talks about making her prison, and then you read some of the comments below, you realize that here is a 17 year old who has been thrust out into the world to be evaluated on her looks, her style, her dancing ability, and her music. You certainly understand that she has made a trade off and that the reality of fame is not as glamorous as the dream of fame. Speaking of dancing ability, she has more of a rocker vibe. It suits the mood of the song and the raw feel of her music. It's not a choreography. No one ever accused a rocker of being able to dance, and all of them have done well anyway. I think it's badass!
I love the way Lorde dances because it's honestly relatable. I know most of us won't admit it, but when you really feel music and don't care about others, when you just let go, you dance like this. I know I dance like this sometimes haha.
David Bowie sung hung praises about this girl, saying she's the next generation before he died 😭 I wish she released more music but she seems happy and content and I guess that's more important
You always put yourself before the fans and the music. So being happy and content instead of drowning in wealth, or misery and depression, its better to love yourself rather than getting lost in society and the people who "shape you"(as in ppl who want to control such as fans)
[Verse 1] I'm a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm And the scars that mark my body, they're silver and gold My blood is a flood of rubies, precious stones It keeps my veins hot, the fire's found a home in me I move through town, I’m quiet like a fight And my necklace is of rope, I tie it and untie it [Pre-Chorus 1] And now people talk to me, but nothing ever hits home People talk to me, and all the voices just burn holes I’m done with it (ooh) [Chorus] This is the start of how it all ends They used to shout my name, now they whisper it I'm speeding up and this is the Red, orange, yellow flicker beat sparking up my heart We’re at the start, the colors disappear I never watch the stars, there’s so much down here So I just try to keep up with them Red, orange, yellow flicker beat sparking up my heart [Verse 2] I dream all year, but they're not the sweet kinds And the shivers move down my shoulder blades in double time [Pre-Chorus 2] And now people talk to me I'm slipping out of reach now People talk to me, and all their faces blur But I got my fingers laced together and I made a little prison And I'm locking up everyone who ever laid a finger on me I’m done with it (ooh) [Chorus] This is the start of how it all ends They used to shout my name, now they whisper it I'm speeding up and this is the Red, orange, yellow flicker beat sparking up my heart We’re at the start, the colors disappear I never watch the stars, there’s so much down here So I just try to keep up with them Red, orange, yellow flicker beat sparking up my heart [Outro] And this is the red, orange, yellow flicker beat Sparking up my heart And this is the red, orange, yellow flicker beat-beat-beat-beat
Those are just people who're used to seeing choreographies on songs and all that, which are more organized and sometimes really dull. I like Lorde's dance moves because they're not thought. They're felt. And done.
I could watch her feel music through her body like that until the day I die. If only everyone could be moved as unapologetically by what they're doing. Can't get enough of it.
seeing her dance makes me want to dance!! People don't get it. I'd way rather watch this than someone just standing still and singing or doing a bunch of choreographed moves a paid professional taught them.
I like that she does her own dance. Why need a choreographer to give you prefab/cookie cutter moves when you can just style to the beat you made? I love it!
You are the first guy that said something along those lines, besides me. She's just amazing, isn't she? Not sure if you listened to Pure Heroine, but if you find yourself in her music, you can't help but to think what it would be like to hang out with her... A day at least. Just talk about stuff, do things together! Damn.
Lorde is going to revolutionize music in every way. I don't know if you guys see it but she truly feels her music and the lyrics, she is a true artist and she is amazing.
Mr. G Hey Mr. G (with all due respect) you can't feel "too much" when it comes to music in my opinion she is FEELING her music in a way that she can touch it and mold it in different ways. This is why I think society is not ready for a change when it comes to music.
“ They used to shout my name , now they whisper it” As a tribute my understanding, In the first hunger games Everyone loved Katniss in the Capital and shouted her name everywhere. Then she became the face of Revolution and Snow banned the use of her name. So that, people started to whisper her name 🤫
I agree with you loved the Hunger Games film's JLAW is an absolute legend the darling of Hollywood just a quality actress beautiful girl aswell I sometimes feel she doesn't get the credit she deserves great girl X 👍🍺🥃🏴💖
Who thinks Lorde is underrated? Clearly her music is unmatched and even older singers cannot match her awesomeness Best 18 year old singer today Justin bieber is nothing compared to Lorde yet he gets more attention :(
She won two Grammys. Underrated is hardly the word to describe her. And I haven't heard anything about Bieber music wise in months. He's too busy doing whatever he does.

I started listening to Lorde when “Pure Heroine” was out and can’t stop. Won’t stop. One of the most powerful singers of all times no matter what she does next.
@@purpul9718 "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes". It's a prequel. It will apparently center on the 10th annual Hunger Games. she really feels the music. I think its great how she dances because it just shows that she doesn't care what other people think just what she thinks.

Same thing with how people give the front man from Future Islands shit, he does this almost dorky looking dance when he's performing. He's just being a good front man and letting the ebb and flow of the music take him over. That's what a performer should do, it's adds a lot of color to a performance.
so damn true
Hunger Games bringing me back to this masterpiece.

BEST HUNGER GAMES SOUNDTRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!
TOTALLY
Followed by coldplay - atlas
Oh shit mind= blown

the video has now become 10 times better than it was before
i just notice the tv flashing but wow i never know that, im gonna watch it again and pay more attention

That is like completely Katniss!
I am Lorde 💋✌️
Why do people hate on Lorde? She's not afraid to be herself. So her dancing is not like others but it proves she's being herself. It's her style. We grow up on the "idea" of what dancing should be but in my opinion everyone can dance wether it fits the idea or not. So her dancing isn't in the "idea" but it's HER. That's why I love Lorde. She stays true to herself. We need more singers like her.
Cause she is different....
Idiots everywhere
Χρηστος Νικολαου I love that she's different. Most of the music now a days is to similar. We need more singers like Lorde.
lotus flower by radiohead. tom is dancing like crazy and its amazing, lorde does the same - its fenomenal

It would better to say I do not like her music rather than hate. Wrong word I feel.
Hypnotic. I'm crying. God bless Lorde and everyone who took part in shooting this video.
The line “they used to shout my name, now they whisper it." is so deep.
John Hall especially for Katniss Everdeen
John Hall the deepest line here along with the line "i never look at the stars theres so much down here".
John Hall It's not.
And now it's true. I haven't heard much of her since her latest album released.
Alejandro Rodriguez then you are on the wrong side of the internet.

Neither do I.
owh, thats how she dance? i thought a retarded choreographer taught her that.. no offence ;)
Melena Zuberi agreed 100%
***** inspired by Peter Garrett I assume.
i like her music but the spirit of it is, outright fucked, so her dance moves accompany it well.
Lorde's eccentricity is so amazing. I love that she's different and doesn't do the same usual beat with the same usual music video with the same dumb lyrics we hear over and over again. Lorde haters can stop because they clearly can't appreciate, REAL MUSIC.
You wanna listen to real music, go listen to Warpaint.
Krystal Lake I get what you're saying. I'm wrong for that. BUT most of the people who are saying it sucks are the ones who listen to the bullshit.
There's no need to insinuate that it's "fake" and diminish it's fans, like they're some sort of sub-human ignoramus who "can't comprehend MY amazing taste in music..."
Adding labels like 'real' and 'fake' outright dismiss it, and that's not really fair.
I used to be guilty of it, too. I love classic rock, and used to say that rap wasn't real music. But it speaks to a Hell of a lot of people, because it's bigger than ever. Even I am a fan of some rap now.
Sure, most of it is gratuitously shallow. (I don't think it ever claimed to be otherwise.) But some folks need 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' in their life more than they need 'Citizen Kane.'
[Honestly, I haven't gotten a lot of sleep. We just had a fairly big earthquake here. So I hope that makes sense.]
I'm not trying to bash you at all, King - so I hope you didn't take it like that.
[read between the lines on what that means.. ;-) ]
We like what we like, _because_ we like it! ;-) That is what makes it good.
Also, it may not be only the "bullshit" fans who hate Lorde. It may be the aged 30+ old fogeys who don't quite relate to it, or find a youthful naiveté in her music. I may have outed my old self here. :-) (Except I don't really hate any artist. No room or time for hate.)
Sorry for the monologue. Might be time for a nap now. Yes.. fuzzy blankets and comfy pillows... Take care, King!
Bet TheKingsHeree was like "too long, didnt read" lol

Many Good Things In Life / theres so many grammatical errors in this sentence yet it adds so much to the comment.
Wise words Lornicopia

'they used to shout my name, now they whisper it'... one of the most epic things ever uttered.

I love the way Lorde dances because it's honestly relatable. I know most of us won't admit it, but when you really feel music and don't care about others, when you just let go, you dance like this. I know I dance like this sometimes haha.
No
David Bowie sung hung praises about this girl, saying she's the next generation before he died 😭 I wish she released more music but she seems happy and content and I guess that's more important
What he said exactly?
@@Hniehsc that she was the future of music
@@thisistinnytrying god!
You always put yourself before the fans and the music. So being happy and content instead of drowning in wealth, or misery and depression, its better to love yourself rather than getting lost in society and the people who "shape you"(as in ppl who want to control such as fans)
Luckily she's still really young so we'll get lots more music from her! It'll just be a 4 year wait between albums
I get why David Bowie loved her so-She is a true artist as he was. Her music is more than music, it’s her soul laid splayed before all of creation
You should listen to Solar Power xD it’s incredible
I need more music from her. This is pure poetry and art. ♥️
[Verse 1]
I'm a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm
And the scars that mark my body, they're silver and gold
My blood is a flood of rubies, precious stones
It keeps my veins hot, the fire's found a home in me
I move through town, I’m quiet like a fight
And my necklace is of rope, I tie it and untie it
[Pre-Chorus 1]
And now people talk to me, but nothing ever hits home
People talk to me, and all the voices just burn holes
I’m done with it (ooh)
[Chorus]
This is the start of how it all ends
They used to shout my name, now they whisper it
I'm speeding up and this is the
Red, orange, yellow flicker beat sparking up my heart
We’re at the start, the colors disappear
I never watch the stars, there’s so much down here
So I just try to keep up with them
Red, orange, yellow flicker beat sparking up my heart
[Verse 2]
I dream all year, but they're not the sweet kinds
And the shivers move down my shoulder blades in double time
[Pre-Chorus 2]
And now people talk to me I'm slipping out of reach now
People talk to me, and all their faces blur
But I got my fingers laced together and I made a little prison
And I'm locking up everyone who ever laid a finger on me
I’m done with it (ooh)
[Outro]
And this is the red, orange, yellow flicker beat
Sparking up my heart
And this is the red, orange, yellow flicker beat-beat-beat-beat
God bless you

People dissing Lorde's moves aren't more than society robots who can't take someone doing something that is away from what people expect us to do.
Preach
True. People say they are so tired of the usual popstars who all sound the same and then someone different comes along and they can't handle it.
Approved.
So true
Those are just people who're used to seeing choreographies on songs and all that, which are more organized and sometimes really dull. I like Lorde's dance moves because they're not thought. They're felt. And done.

Oh my god, same here. I just love it. I love it so much.
seeing her dance makes me want to dance!! People don't get it. I'd way rather watch this than someone just standing still and singing or doing a bunch of choreographed moves a paid professional taught them.
I like that she does her own dance. Why need a choreographer to give you prefab/cookie cutter moves when you can just style to the beat you made? I love it!
I am in love. I love her voice, I love the way she moves. I love her attitude. She's gorgeous.

I so agree with you. She is doing something real. I love it.
She feels it too much if you ask me...
Mr. G She's passionate. She loves what she's doing. I would love doing that. She is just taking it all in. She is an artist.
Kathleen Caldwell U right, she is really taking it all in & she can't handle it...
That's why she is in a convulsion state of dancing...
Mr. G Hey Mr. G (with all due respect) you can't feel "too much" when it comes to music in my opinion she is FEELING her music in a way that she can touch it and mold it in different ways. This is why I think society is not ready for a change when it comes to music.
I so appreciate how talented she is artistically - she's definitely got that "something."
I think that besides the talent and amazing songwriting, she's found so much success because we all watch her to try and figure her out.
Avonlea Montague She's a complete original :D

When Lorde is wearing the black dress and starts walking up and then falls is the most iconic part in the video

“ They used to shout my name , now they whisper it”
As a tribute my understanding, In the first hunger games Everyone loved Katniss in the Capital and shouted her name everywhere. Then she became the face of Revolution and Snow banned the use of her name. So that, people started to whisper her name 🤫
I always took it mean she became something to fear.
