- Leblon and Ipanema are two neighborhoods connected by the same extension of beach, mixing in their streets. Avenida Ataulfo de Paiva (Leblon) and Rua Visconde de Pirajá (Ipanema) are actually the same length of road, but they change their names where the neighborhoods intersect, in the Jardim de Alah canal. These streets are the commercial heart of the two neighborhoods, as they concentrate a luxury trade.
Leblon is the neighborhood with the highest square meter value in Brazil, and reaches its peak in properties facing the sea.
Shops and boutiques like Osklen and Farm have their origins linked to neighborhoods. The headquarters of major jewelry stores such as Amsterdam Sauer and H. Stern are also located in Ipanema. Major international brands such as Mont Blanc and Louis Vuitton also chose stores in the neighborhood. These stores are concentrated in the streets Garcia D'Avila and Visconde de Pirajá (mainly in the Forum Forum of Ipanema) and Maria Quitéria.
The neighborhoods still have some of the best and most traditional bars and restaurants in Rio de Janeiro.
Ipanema is among the main tourist spots in the city of Rio de Janeiro, both for Brazilian and international tourists.
Recently, several hostels have been installed in the neighborhoods, which has considerably increased the number of young people from all over the world, on the streets.

I noticed that many entrances had protruding entry gates. I have not seen those in too many other cities. Also, wide sidewalks with an attempt to have space for plants and trees street side is nice for the quality of life. Very nice neighborhood.
