    Thank you very much for your video playlist about o&c, I learned a lot by reading the wiki and simply trying, but the most fun stuff I learned by watching your tutorial series! There is so many in the wiki to discover and so much inside this tiny 8HE module that automatically I have too many informations so that my old brain sometimes seems to explode. Watching your videos is more comprehensive because you explain it very well. So grateful!!! That module is in my opinion the "must have module" in every rack. • @SynthDad
      @SynthDad  3 года назад

      Hemispheres gives you more smaller apps that would be similar to classic Doepfer modules (simple sequencers, slew limiters, envelope generators etc) and the standard firmware gives you more complex apps that are similar to Mutable modules (e.g. Stages, Peaks). So one is not “better” than the other, it depends on what you want to use it for

    Would say say o_c is better than intellijel scales?

    • @SynthDad
      @SynthDad  3 года назад

      That depends on what you’re looking for (I know, not a great answer). O_C packs a lot of functionality into a small space and Sequins is a great example of that. But Scales is very playable and lets you make quick scale adjustments on the fly in a performance. So it’s down to what you’re looking to achieve. Personally I think O_C offers best value for money for the space it takes up

    • @SynthDad
      @SynthDad  3 года назад

      If you press the knob for an output and turn it to start selecting the rate multiplier, go all the way to the end to x48, and then keep turning to get to the special modifiers. Select the one-off gate modifier which will then fire the gate only once when run is pressed.

    • @SynthDad
      @SynthDad  3 года назад

      That’s an interesting way of using it, but yes I think that would work. The gate would trigger the envelope on the AUX output and you could just ignore the pitch value generated by the sequencer. Never thought of that!

    Thanks for this video! I'm currently using a drumbrute impact to clock my system, is it possible to set up the reset function with just a single clock source? without something like Pams?
    I also have an O-CTRL(clocked by the drum machine) and if I send a gate out of the 1st step to the RST2 input, it still doesn't seem to reset....

    • @SynthDad
      @SynthDad  3 года назад

      For the reset input you just need to send it a trigger, so if the Drumbrute can send a trigger (maybe a note being hit?) then it will reset the sequencer position.
      I'm not familiar with how the 0-Ctrl sends gates, but looking at the manual if you are using the dynamic gate feature you'll need to ensure that the voltage reaches 5v to trigger the RST2 input. Is the output on the 0-Ctrl being attenuated perhaps?

    Thanks for making these vids. I'm in the market for a sequencer, but none seem to have all the qualities I would like. The o_C sequins seems like it ticks all the boxes. • @SynthDad
      @SynthDad  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching!
      That is one of the limitations of the small memory on the O_C; Sequins will only save the 4 sequences you’ve created per sequencer. Now that’s 8 sequences in total which could be enough for a track?
      If you want to have a library of sequences look at the Enigma app as you can have 40 generative shift register sequences saved. Not the same as Sequins though.

    • @TheRhomb

      Just to clarify; you can't see the root note option in the menu?

      @@SynthDad yes that is what it is happening.. I'm a complete rookie with the oc. Starting to using it .. I didn't check which firmware version I got. I was told it is 1.3

    (raises hand) why can’t you patch o_c directly into your audio i/o? with its own clock?

      Hi Greg - O_C can't output audio rate waveforms (other than at a very low resolution) so it would sound terrible.

      @@SynthDad sorry I meant audio/midi interface. would you recommend Pams as a solitary trigger source for all 50 modes? is there any mode Pams cannot trigger?

    • @SynthDad

      @@RedCloudServices Pams pairs great with O_C as it can provide clocking and reset pulses, as well as LFOs for CV control. Is that what you mean?

      @@SynthDad yes. Looking at all 50 modes and reading the manual I wouldn’t want to buy a collection of modules just to operate these o_c modes. thank you!
