Oh my word she's gotten sooo big and absolutely precious!! Congratulations again to Mommy and Daddy. You have a beautiful family. God bless you always. ~Lisa Oh, the taders look awesome too. 😂 (sorry my “gma” self is showing more than my gardener self for this video, lol) 😂❤ Tell Abram (did I remember his name right?) he was missed too.
Ty is getting so big. Nice to see that he enjoys the garden with you. Little Bit is adorable. I love seeing how patient the whole family is with her, even the dog. You have a beautiful family Travis.
Hey Y'all, It's Time It's Time It's Tater Time!!! Yes sir it is great free fun for the family esp when you play dodgeball with the taters. I love to see kids in the garden having fun. Great job y'all. Cya next time
What a wonderful blessing having the family gardening together . Little Bit is not going to be that for long, she's growing so fast and is the beauty of her lovely mom. Ty Ty sure has had a growth spurt, what a sweet big brother he is. Abe missed out on the tater planting, tell him we missed seeing him on the video. Give thanks to God for all His blessings, for y'all are truly blessed.
Looked like me in this one with all that help😉. I got my tators planted today as well. We’re going to risk it this weekend and go ahead and plant some maters, cucumbers, and zucchini here in Central Texas. Weather here has been 40s in the morning and 80s in the afternoon. Got my frost cloth ready just in case. Enjoyed it Travis.
Its good to see the wife & kids helping in the garden! I use synthetic fertilizer. I usually bury my cut taters, a couple of inches & fertilize over the top. The clay is too hard for the potatoes to grow down... So I plant a wide double row /Zigzag pattern, & top dress with dirt in between... Have a Blessed weekend!
ive tried doing this with my kids but they just dont care. :( doesnt matter tho, gotta keep trying to make them appreciate the knowledge of growing your own food. thank you for all the knowledge you share with us all.
They will appreciate it. Maybe not now but when they're grown they'll appreciate it. Rare is the kid who likes garden chores but common is the adult gardener who had garden chores as a kid. 👩🌾🍅🥔🥕🌶️🥒🥦🧅...
For us at least, it helps to make them feel like they are an important part of the process -- not just some chore you're making them do. Make them feel involved and important and they'll enjoy it.
Thanks for the video, maybe better to hill the potatoes more now. There is always discussion about it, but it is now possible and produces good yields. The big advantage is that with a lot of rain no tuber will rot like it did last year.
Oh my goodness how Miss Essie has grown and beautiful as her mom! Hey Trav I have my taters up already., hoping to beat the heat. Can't get the Sirpo Mira to sprout so they will be late.
Still haven't gotten my order from Prairie View yet but was on the site yesterday reviewing the varieties I've ordered. Can't wait! Plan on all raised beds but might do a row in the ground garden.
I don't think rain will hurt anything in the raised beds, because I seem to miss some every year, and they grow us another crop every time...knock on wood
The 60lbs of taters I got didn’t look like enough so I bough 40 more pounds. I think 100lbs may be to much now LOL! Oh well! We have the space and will get to share if we have a good harvest.
We planted our potatoes about 2 weeks ago. I hope we don't get a freeze as we have them popping up already. On another subject is it time to start watering the onions for bulb production? Thanks BJ
Curious, you plant closer together in the raised bed, why not plant closer together in the in ground...? I am only asking because I also have in ground and container potatoes, I usually plant closer together in the in ground, and get good production, my containers, are fabric smart pots, and I don't usually get very good production....
From previous years experience, 5 lbs of seed taters would have been just enough for a 30' row. For some reason we had more leftover this year. And I didn't feel like going back and re-spacing them. So I just added more the raised beds haphazardly to try and use the rest of them.
What kind of soil composition is in your raised potato bed for best yield? I must have missed it. I get it now. This is geared more toward family entertainment than for informing someone who has never grown potatoes.
Besides cutting them, I've heard you shouldn't leave more than 2 sprouted eyes per piece when you plant them. Have you ever done that? Looks like you've got some good help out there!
@@LazyDogFarm Thank you for saying that! I'm about ready to plant mine in the next couple of weeks here in the upper part of zone 7 and was going back and forth about it.
I've only seen pictures of Huckleberry gold on seed sites. They are purple outside and yellow inside. Is yours a different variant? They don't look like huckleberries 😂
@@LazyDogFarm that's interesting! I've read they are lower glycemic than other potatoes. We're going tomorrow (or today I guess since it's after midnight lol) to cut up our red la sodas. I have a few pinto taters and masquerades micro tubers planted and sprouted already. They're new to me, so we'll see how it goes!
You know you have a rich life when the dog is laying in the onions and the wife and kids are helping plant the garden.
Amen! 🥰
That little girl is mini-mom. Enjoy every minute Travis. They grow up in a heartbeat.❤
stella coming in for a snack was great
Awww, I love the kids helping ❤️❤️❤️You have a beautiful family.
Ty is growing right up! He's getting so tall and becoming a good big brother. And that Esse is as precious as can be 🥰
Aww,so sweet seeing whole family out there together ❤️
What great memories you've made, even the Lazy Dog mascot joined in 😆
I like your daughter's technique for planting taters, "throw and go."😂
Awww awesome family time Travis!!!
Wow that inground planting was quite an experience, I must say! 😂
Proof positive, when getting the garden going in the Spring, every "Little Bit" helps! 👍👍👍
We loved this, my wife and I. We had five kids, now they are all grown and moved away. Essie is a great gardener already!
Baby girl is such a cutie. Ty ty has gotten so big and brotherly

Great family video
Love it- beautiful family! We have a few weeks left up in North Georgia before we plant. Your littles have some great teachers.

Hey, I love the family time! ❤ How deep did you make your trench?
About 3-4"
Chaos!
Tater time 💪🏽
I need your daughter to help me plant my taters lol
Kids are so cute. Where is big brother?
He was at Brooklyn's mom's when we did this, so he missed it.
We planted our potatoes about 2 weeks ago. I hope we don't get a freeze as we have them popping up already. On another subject is it time to start watering the onions for bulb production?

Yes!
SUNDAY IS NOT A TATER PLANTING DAY.
Curious, you plant closer together in the raised bed, why not plant closer together in the in ground...? How often do you fertilize and hill you potatoes?
Usually just twice.

That's a good rule of thumb to go by.

I've only seen pictures of Huckleberry gold on seed sites. They are purple outside and yellow inside.

They don't look like huckleberries 😂
Yeah ours are that color too at harvest. The seed potatoes always look a little faded.
@@LazyDogFarm that's interesting!

Tater time 🎉
❤️❤️❤️
Brother man, that may be just a tad bit too many taters in that last above ground bed. I have my order coming from woodprairie in March zone 6B
You may be right. But I won't be mad about a boatload of small taters in that bed if that's what we get.
Omg the baby got big! Where does the time go? 🥹
