- Kyiv (also Kiev and Ukrainian: Київ) is the largest city and capital of the Ukraine. The city is one of the oldest in Europe with a long history.
We walked in Kyiv on the main street at centre ( • Walking in KYIV (KIEV)... ) - today's tour explores another area of the central city.
We at the Maidan, the Independence Square in the center at the The Founders of Kyiv Monument (Пам'ятник засновникам Києва). We take one tunnel under the Khreschatyk and walk West and uphill first to the St. Sophia's Cathedral and then to the St. Michael's Bell Tower and monastery.
We have a look around before we head to the park area of Volodymyrska Hill. We see the Friendship of Nations Arch and walk back to Khreschatyk and the Maidan, where we end this tour.

Красивый город, старинные дома с интересной архитектурой. Аккуратные дороги и тротуары. Огромное количество различных заведений. Тут нельзя прибывать в уныние или депрессии, чувствуешь свободу и лёгкость в настроении. Киев лучший город для путешествий и жизни.

Visiting Ukraine from May to August during summer is best. There are two other cities of the Ukraine coming here to the channel: Lviv and Odessa which you may be interested in. It will take a while (Lviv in October) as I have many other videos to post meanwhile

Well, it is 100% safe, but it matters where:
Smaller cities are safe, like Lviv, Rivne, etc.
Kyiv: Kyiv is safe but also depending on where, there are really dark sides of it, dangerous people, weapons etc.
But as I live there, I think it's really safe, but I prefer not walking in night time and some streets.
Donetsk and Luhansk: Don't go there :D (war zone)
I hope Ukraine returns again as before and becomes more advanced

It's quite haunting to think that nobody in this video could imagine what was going to happen to their country in 2022.
I agree. Hardly anybody could imagine such escalation and tragedy even up until a few weeks ago. I had planned to revisit Ukraine and Russia this year - after spending 4 weeks in Odesa in January 2020 and more than a dozen visits Ukraine and Russia in the early to mid 2000's. I hope that peace returns quickly

Thanks. You're right, Ukrainian spelling could be better. I try to take Wikipedia as spelling advise which is "Kiev" (also BBC etc) yet airlines write it more "Kyiv" these days. Lviv is beautiful. I've walked there as well just the day before and made a video. I'm showing different locations from past walks for a more interesting mix. The Lviv walk is coming to this channel probably in October.

how long do you walk for?
I walk as long as the video is and started end of December 2018, when the Osmo Pocket was released. There is usually no cuts in these walking videos - sometimes only when I had to stop due to rain or waiting for something else. Often it's possible to record 2 or even 3 walks on one day though I post the videos then over a longer period. Thanks for watching!
