The sheer amount of vulnerability and heartache in those lines is so moving to me.
We all have so much more in common with one another than we realize. I wish vulnerability like this was more of a social standard. Imagine how connected we may begin to feel, knowing we share the same insecurities and feelings of confusion and loneliness.
I just want to say that to those who feel like your never someone's first choice. I want to tell you now I may be in a relationship but I wasn't my partners first choice. I was average, not very outspoken, not that attractive or good looking. If anything I feel like I'm not even second best. The thing is though, whether or not someone looks at you and thinks you are compatible or not doesn't mean someone won't take the chance to get to know you and find out that they would choose you over any other person in the world. So, hopefully this has at least uplifted someone. Who's ever reading, I hope you have an amazing day/night/week/year,stay healthy (physically and mentally), and do things for yourself as well. You deserve to be loved, cared, and worried about. Have a good night/day. 😄

Just watched this on CAKE on FX on Hulu...this...this really hit me, cause this is how I feel nearly all the time(from a male perspective).
First Sadness. Then Despair. Then Anger...at how unfair life can be. Unbridled Fury brought forth from Unspeakable Pain.

@@paulkuhns2175 I mean you exaggerated it but yes it's true woman get more matches than guys do, but the video itself to me is less about a dating site and more just feeling lonely, wanting love, and feeling like you're not good enough. So, anyone can relate to this. It's not any less "applicable" to any one specific gender. The character and speaker of the poem just happens to be a girl. So, please don't seem like you're trying to undermine someone's emotions and feelings because you feel like it relates to one specific gender. There are plenty of people who have trouble dating and getting matches and feeling like they aren't enough because of what they look like.
This makes me sad but feel safe at the same time for some reason
I only ever watched one episode (not this one) of Cake while in a motel, but that one episode made me fall in love. There surrealism combined with animation hits so hard for me and I can't think of anything that's done that to me in so long.
