This is a very old song from the early 1920's this song was written by Bee Palmer and its been sung by Willie Nelson, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra, Ella and i can't remember more people. But i like the way Willie Nelson sings it.
I have liked this old 1930 song since the first time I heard the frog sing it in the 1955 cartoon "One Froggy Evening." I was 8 years old. Those of a "certain age" may remember this Warner Brothers "Merrie Melodies" cartoon where a frog sang and danced, but only for its new owner and nobody else. Dean Martin's version was very popular. But it was recorded by almost everybody including Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Sammy Davis Junior, Bing Crosby, Connie Francis, Ann Margret, Ella Fitzgerald, and more. Some may recall Leon Redbone's version. Jerry Lee Lewis even did it.
Please don't talk about me when I'm gone Though our friendship ceases from now on And listen, if you can't say anything real nice It's better not to talk at all, that's my advice We're parting, you go your way, I'll go mine, it's best that we do Here's a kiss, I hope that this brings lots of luck to you Makes no difference how I carry on Just don't you talk about me when I'm gone Please don't talk about me when I'm gone Though our friendship ceases from now on And listen, if you can't say anything real nice Just don't talk at all, that's my advice...
Please don’t talk about me when I’m gone Oh honey, though our friendship ceases from now on And listen, if you can’t say anything real nice It’s better not to talk at all is my advice We’re parting, you go your way I’ll go mine It’s best that we do Here’s a kiss I hope that this brings lots of luck to you Makes no difference how I carry on Remember, please don’t talk about me when I’m gone
Johnny be Gimble...tearing it up on the fiddle. Great performance, Willie!

That's exactly how I feel don't talk about me when I'm gone. You got that right Willie Nelson. Great music!
Check out Leon Redbone's live version. It's choice!
I like it too!
Great song! Great musician! Can't be beat!!!
Love this tune. Awesome piano solo! Leon Redbone also has a terrific version.
Willie and trad jazz. Wonderful.

It would hard not to to smile like Willie, with a tight swinging rhythm section like that.
Best version ever!
This is terrific,
❤❤❤❤only speak good about you youre the best
My favorite version of this song.
This is the worst version
Bert lowns orch is well better
Willie the Great
Heaven's music! (9/4/17).
Good cover of the Michigan J. Frog classic ;) :) ;)
Love that cartoon!
Not a cover of the Frog, at all, that tune has been around for decades. More like Leon (RIP) interpreting Kate Smith or Gene Austin.
All of the tunes sung by Michigan J Frog were old classics, except for the Michigan Rag, an original written just for him in the cartoon.
Mucho swing Willie Nelson. Parece que era una jazzista total. Saludos desde santiago de chile.
Alvaro Ponce Faccuse
love this song an country swing
Tiny venue. Must have been great!
The Mills Bros my favorite. Harmony
Please don't talk about me when I'm gone...God bless all my family♡♡♡
Please don't talk about me when I'm gone
Though our friendship ceases from now on
And listen, if you can't say anything real nice
It's better not to talk at all, that's my advice
We're parting, you go your way, I'll go mine, it's best that we do
Here's a kiss, I hope that this brings lots of luck to you
Makes no difference how I carry on
Just don't you talk about me when I'm gone
Please don't talk about me when I'm gone
Though our friendship ceases from now on
And listen, if you can't say anything real nice
Just don't talk at all, that's my advice...
At times my mother sang this song in the kitchen. Her version was slower and had a sadness to it. Still makes me sad.
Leon Redbone……❤
Cuckleberry Nelson: I got the fever ...
2:16 That’ the way to do it!
speed 0,75x
You're so right!
Yes! Use .75 (slower) speed, a big improvement. Why rush through this great song?
I just relistened to this and from Willie's speaking during the short intro, it appears that this was speeded up. 😜
Much much better
Please don’t talk about me when I’m gone
Oh honey, though our friendship ceases from now on
And listen, if you can’t say anything real nice
It’s better not to talk at all is my advice
We’re parting, you go your way I’ll go mine
It’s best that we do
Here’s a kiss I hope that this brings lots of luck to you
Makes no difference how I carry on
Remember, please don’t talk about me when I’m gone
Roll me up and smoke me when I’m gone
i really appreciate how this fits so well in the rythm lmao
Is that the immortal Johnny Gimble on fiddle? I think it is.
+Mike Fox Yes, that is Johnny Gimble. No doubt. :-)
He is great!
National Treasure
Where's Ralo?

O cara da rabeca arrebenta! Aliás todos estão ótimos, e Willie Nelson é demais! (Rio, 11/8/20).

My favorite version is the Jerry Lee Lewis one.
+William Beck I love the duet of this one with Harry Connick Jr. and Carmen McRae.
you are right
what year was this?
is this a hint?... or... just good advice 🤠?
carry on Mr Nelson.. please
loudly... whenever possible 🙂
Aside from fiddler Johhny Gimble, who are the rest of these fine musicians? Paul Buskirk on 2nd guitar, maybe ?
I don't know, either, but just goes to show you that there have always been many great, unfamous musicians out there.
Paul Schmitt on piano.
Whos here because of the Hanby gang
I literally cannot stand this leftist!
Ripping guitar solo.
