To be fair, Kelvin Kirk still drove a car off a cliff, which wasn't exactly 'good' driving. Also it was to spite his abusive stepfather. So... not really mad about that.
Two fun Easter Eggs to the original series-in "Naked Time" Kirk told Spock he wanted Spock to teach him the Vulcan neck pinch someday. Kinda makes sense that, given six months of isolation with a Vulcan, he'd follow through and learn it. And then him having problems getting the car out of reverse right at the start is a direct call back to "Piece of the Action" when he tries to drive a 1930's era Model T. Obviously having automatic transmission's over the old clutches made it easier for him to drive :)
People have asked why she doesnt just change her name. But rememeber her other trauma - the Gorn attack. It has left her terrified of feeling or seeming to be weak or defeated. To change her name would be to (in her mind) admit defeat which she wont allow. She has two major traumas in her past and she over compensates as a result of both of them. Its fascinating really, she is a phsycological wreck who nevertheless functions well.
2:00 the first indication of what the deviation between the two timelines is. the fact that Kirk doesn't recognize the name Noonien-Singh--a name that in the Prime universe is as recognizable as Hitler--is concerning
Drive with your mirrors, don't turn your head. If you take the view in the mirror literally, and don't consider it 'reversed', you can turn the steering wheel like you would normally. Need to turn to the right on a street 'coming up' in your mirrors? Turn right! The view in the mirror of course isn't reversed. It's an accurate reflection of what's behind you, but so many folks think it's reversed because they assume the image they see is in _front_ of them is _beyond_ the mirror. It's not. That person lifting their left hand when you lift your right hand is you and that's your right hand you see.
... So this Kirk learned telepathy? 'Cause if I remember right, the novelization of the movies had an explanation where the nerve pinch requires touch telepathy to work. Any which way, amazing, glad they brought it back.
I can understand Kelvin Kirk being able to drive a car like a boss after figuring out the gears, since he did it as a kid, but this alt-Kirk was born in, grew up in, and lived in space. Where did he get access to a car? It sort of puts a kink in later TOS Kirk driving jerkily in Chicago and Nazi era autos. Although going the wrong direction was a good nod.
@@EGWest65 "A Piece of the Action" was the Episode where Kirk "Bunny Hop's" a car all over the place, BUT as Mentioned this KIRK Dies, but being from a Different Timeline than "Our" Kirk, he can have a Different Skill set ..
This is a very deviated timeline, Kirk is in Toronto according to thd names on the police cars, yet he is driving on the sidewalk in front of the library in downtown Vancouver.
Kirk's delighted pride in saying, "I can also make Plomeek soup in the toilet!" is one of my favourite things ever. 😅
He looked so happy when he said that. lol. Paul Wesley is growing on me as Kirk.
Plomeek Soup de la To'Leit is considered at Tasty Treat from the Master Chefs of the Vulcan Academy of Culinary Arts on Vulcan. 5-star rating.
I'd like to see Kirk making Plomeek soup in a cooking competition against Neelix 😄
@@LGranthamsHeir That would be a hoot.
I love that everyone keeps Kirk as a poor driver (excluding Kelvin timeline.)
"A Piece of the Action", my beloved

@@Jokie155 oh yeah, I forgot.
Though, does the fact he was a kid make it count?

Oh my gosh, that's brilliant!!!
Those two must have had a lot of fun making this scene. Somehow, I knew that the car was going to go backward at first. LMHO😂
James "Baby Driver" Kirk!

Given the time elapsed between Khan and SNW, it'd probably be like someone called "Bonaparte" rather than "Hitler"
Can't wait for a scene where Kirk would say the word: "LA'AAAANNNNNN!!"
These two have big chemistry….you know they going to get together again….

This is long before he met Kahn.
Another easter egg is he said Noonien Soong aka the Doctors of Data's family tree.
This is an alternate timeline Kirk - both Khan and the Federation doesn't exist and La'an is trying to correct the timeline.
@@andytay5507 in La’ahns universe everyone has heard of Khan.
I will never get tired of rewatching this scene
Someone should edit 2:24 so that it plays sabotage instead 😂
Anyone notice that when Kirk mispronounces Noonien Singh, he pronounces it 'Soong'? Another reference to Data's family.
I mean, it's always been right there with Noonien "Often Wrong" Soong.
So much Toronto... luv!
kirk spends half his time in the 21st century and the other half in ww2.
I looove this show. One note though… You never see a shiny spotless car on the streets of Toronto in winter.

whats the name of the song in the background at the end?

Any which way, amazing, glad they brought it back.
The novels aren’t canon. Also we’ve seen Jonathan Archer, Michael Bernham, and Data perform the Vulcan Nerve Pinch. None of them could do telepathy.
Is it weird that I was expecting Sabotage?
No, in fact, I think this song choice is a nod to that as it has a little bit of chaos and a party feel to it

How are all these cars Squeaky clean, while driving in snow??
Is this the first car jacking/chase in Star Trek and if so not bad.
No, Seven and Raffi stole a cop car in Picard
Whats the song at 2:24?
Jim's still a horrible driver!! Doesn't history ever learn!!??
Okay okay, the Car Engine Sound sounds awesome, that's a fact. Is this boosted with some SFX or is that the real deal?
Is that the new normal to play that type of song, everytime a Kirk is at the helm/wheel?
I wonder why they didn't show Toronto in the summer
In the Kelvin timeline Kirk knew how to drive a 20th Century car when he was still a teenager.
Well...he knew how to crash it.
This is a very deviated timeline, Kirk is in Toronto according to thd names on the police cars, yet he is driving on the sidewalk in front of the library in downtown Vancouver.
Challenger theme song should have been Dirty Deeds by AC/DC or Seek and Destroy by Metalica"
Hellcat in Toronto. Okay…
So, why doesn't Kirk recognize Khan's name after encountering the Botany Bay?
Kirk stole a Corvette years before.
Makes no sense.
More scene please ❤

I don't have the series so I really can't.
