We have a Brooks B17 Short on both our Bromptons and love them. I just happen to have mine off the bike to refresh it
with leather conditioner for year two of use. I just weighed it and it comes in at 468 grams, without the pentaclip, which is
only about 50-60 grams more than the standard Brompton wide saddle.

I got a second hand Brooks saddle for my Brompton from eBay for under £30 and renovated it.

There are similar saddles to the brooks with cow hide leather, mich cheaper, with three springs, one on the front. I wonder how it rides

Why would you buy one without the springs?

The Brooks may be the most painful saddle you ever own but at least it’s extra heavy.

Bare legs and feet in long vegetation?
Watch out for TICKS, and/or learn how to remove them.
They are more than annoying. They can kill.

I don't think ones in Uk are infected with those continental disease. Haven't heard about many cases.

@@kamilpotato3764 The disease here in UK is Lyme disease.
A colleage of my wife's, a hospital nurse in previously robust good health, got Lyme disease from a tick while working on her allotment. The poor lady was dead in three weeks. While death is unusual, the long term effects, even after successful antibiotic treatment, can be quite debilitating.
All the hiking manuals now mention ticks, and recommend NOT walking through long grass without leg coverings.
(RUclips has stopped allowing the posting of links, so search, "Lyme disease" and follow the link to NHS.)

I just found out that it is not worth trying to get a new Brooks Saddle. Firstly, they are NOT British anymore. Brooks was sold to Selle Royale of Italy, and that is where they are now made.
Not only that, but the quality has dropped off quite a lot, by some reports, and the high prices quoted on the "Brooks" website do not include any of the new Brexit fees, like Customs duty or VAT. Moreover, Selle Royale state that they CANNOT say how much those fees will add to the price. Whatever it is, you will have to pay up on delivery.
The model I looked at was £145 plus whatever those fees came to. So, suddenly, I am a whole lot of not interested in a Brooks saddle anymore...
.... and this video is, sadly, now rather out of date, through no fault of BikEnomic.

UPDATE: According to a price comparison published today (Guardian 30 July 2022) the cost of some goods sold across both Europe and UK, namely clothing from Zara, also electric bikes, the cost is now upwards of 50% higher here than in Europe for exactly the same products.
Considering what kind of item a leather bike saddle is.. that is, how *specialised* it is... 50% or more is the LEAST extra I would expect to pay in import fees, especially if buying direct from the "Brooks England" website..
(Brooks "England" ... Irony or what?!)
Yeah.. Brooks were always a bit pricey... but now ?? Typicaly, £150 + an extra £75 = £225...
      ...(pun warning)...
... and a REAL pain in the arse if you need to send it back for any reason.

Thanks for the comments. Had great experience with mine so far. Before buying a new one will compare the quality with my old one👍
