Peter did a great performance at POTO on July 2013. I went to see the play with my son with no expectations. It was so good that we went to see it again in 4 days. Excellent as phantom.
Joback has a quality to his voice that’s magical, indeed mystical - you don’t exactly hear it, rather it enters into you. Callas’ voice had a similar ineffable quality. You didn’t exactly listen to her, you felt her.
He has a quality to his voice that is mesmerizing and evocative. He commands that stage with authority and gravitas. I can only imagine how amazing he was as the Phantom.
Ok-not like I've watched ALL the videos of Peter....but... of the ones I've seen, this is the most beautiful and confident I've seen him perform this song! I really like his "type" of Phantom. He sometimes reminds me of Michael Crawford. I would have loved to see him on Broadway.
Hearing Peter Joback sing is always a blessed event for me; talented, captivating, and vocally often sublime. The character assassination made by the hateful soul (ellamae) who's venomous hetero-sexist rant is a rather revealing portrait of their own internal spiritual void. Commenting on the Artists looks and sexual orientation paints a prison of their own spiritual immaturity and a body with very little light within it. I wish you LOVE ellamae.....
10 years later, singer Peter Joback who voiced Aladdin in Swedish is back into the Disney era for now voicing King Magnifico in the Swedish dub of Wish. Now that was a huge surprise and the greatest gift ever! 🇸🇪🎁
I'm totally in love with his version of the Phantom. I love Ramin's voice and performance. Now PeterJoback brings a different style, more like a ghostly voice. Sweet and sensible.
Something happened with him when he played the role in London. When he began his tenture at Her Majesty's Theatre he sounded a bit nervous and unsteady but his voice improved incredibly much during this time and by the end of his London tenture and during the New York tenture he did one of the best portrayals of The Phantom that has ever been done. It will be marvelous to see him doing The Phantom in Stockholm next year :)
No wonder, he has a trained voice (or whatever the proper term is, maybe ”schooled”). For this part he took singing lessons to lower his register to a baryton according to his the video diary he made dueing his stay in London. In early June this year I saw him play the part of Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar. Amaaaazing! ❤️
I saw him as the Phantom on my birthday a few days ago when my band went to New York and I just have to see that he brought the house down (or should I say chandelier?). He was awesome. Best birthday ever!
his voice is close to michael crawford... i like his voice because it brings to a new style, i guess that's why people least picks him because they chose the same range of voice and not appreciates something right out the box. =D
Indeed his voice is VERY close to the tamber of Michael Crawfords. However, being a tenor myself and having sung all my life. With elite choral groups and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. His portrayal is just NOT doing it for me as he's FAR to "breathy" in areas he shouldn't be. Granted every individual who plays this character will most certainly put there own personal "stamp" on it. However, there was just something "extra special" with Anthony Warlow and John Owen-Jones performances. Particularly Anthony Warlow's performance. Weber wrote the part for a tenor to sing but Warlow's baritone voice adds that extra "commanding effect" i feel the phantom was meant to have. Furthermore, it's NOT just about singing these parts but acting them out as well. And again i feel that Warlow had THE BEST of both characteristics going for him. In other words, he was simply MADE to play this role and in many respects did it better then Michael Crawford. I've had the privilege of seeing this musical 5 times now. And saw Crawford first, then John Owen-Jones, (twice) Norm Lewis, and finally Anthony Warlow. Norm Lewis was good but personally i felt his voice was just to deep for this role. Where as Warlow has a GREAT range for a baritone and completely nailed it both singing and acting the part. Quite honestly there is no other way for me to put it. But to simply say Warlow was MADE to play this part. And you'd be hard pressed to find many folks disagreeing with me on that.
I saw him as the phantom in new yourk, best phantom i ever seen. He gave me goosbumps.. Love it! Its even better in real, then he did in this peformance :)
BEST PHANTOM EVER. I saw him in the play and it's so fucking amazing, he touches my heart every time I hear his performances. He made my dad cry, I couldn't believe it!
Being back Starlight Express and cast him as Rusty, please. He did a voice over to the dance group who did some scenes from Starlight Express, at his former dance school of Lasse Kuhler's dance school in Stockholm, Sweden. I was in the choir and we did the voice overs for the other songs they danced to, and we all wanted to meet him, but he did his voice over separate from us. I also do dance at the school
Until you find out he's from Sweden you would have thought that he was British or American because his voice is so good and his accent is almost not even there.
Well, my opinion is mine and mine alone. If you don't agree with me, I'll respect your opinion, just don't push it on me, as you seem to be doing with everyone else, considering your other comments here. And yes, I have never seen him do The Phantom in the play, nor have I seen or heard more than I can find on youtube. I want to like him, but that's all. So, to my point. I do like his voice, I just don't think he does the Phantom well, IN MY OPINION. I love his works, trust me or shove it :D
I agree... For me Phantom's voice isn't like Jöabck's, more like John Owen Jones'... But Jöback still have a beautiful vioce that fits other characters!

He sings beautifully and his voice is so special But I think not everyone will like his voice... Although I prefer Ramin more, still he is a great singer!

Agreed; I'm not a fan of Peter. I think you're right that its the weird way he pronounces the words and such. He's been picked to do 30th anniversary of Phantom next year :/
He has too much swedish accent for my taste. Not through the whole thing, but it kinda pokes out like a needle every now and then. His voice is also a bit to bright and vibrant for The Phantom. He would have worked as a Raoul, but not as a Phantom.
For a Swede, he sings very well in English. He sang at Princess Madeleine of Sweden's wedding and he sang very nicely. It was a nice song, but some of the words were a little risky. I thought he was cute, good-looking from the side, but when you see him from the front, he's not all that good-looking. Unfortunately he is also living in the disgusting, abhorrent sin of homosexuality. Shame on the royal family for allowing a homosexual to sing in a church!!
Seriously?! You're seriously looking down at a person because of who they love?! You should really just accept everyone, don't judge them on sexuality, judge on personality!
Such a beautiful and haunting song, beautifully performed and perfect pronunciation
😢vilken röst och känsla
I saw him as the Phantom last night on Broadway and he completely stole the show! INCREDIBLE.

the BEST.
I had never heard him sing this song before watching this. I am in love with his voice!
Magic of Peter Jöback The best we have in Sweden ❤ so listen moore of him.Thats Voice is so high and so Awesome. Thankyou Peter ❤
He does the swedish dub for Aladdin, THAT role fit him like a glove! :)
Hugh Panaro is the seductive Phantom, Peter is the mysterious, dark Phantom. Gorgeous voices. Can't wait to see him live.

It took me a while, but I've finally been able to get over the strangeness of his pronunciation of the words and I now love this mans voice!
We saw Peter as the Phantom on his last broadway debut in NYC on Aug 24/13 and he was an amazing performer! Even better live!

@-LavendaRrr- I saw him in Stockholm. The performance was magnificent and unforgettable. Peter is a fantastic singer and actor :)

I love high pitched male singers, so this has to be my favorite phantom.
Peter is my absolute favorite Phantom
It's a present can to enjoy in live one of the best singers now in Broadway. Tack Sverige for this pleasure for free! - Spanien.

I love the phantom of the opera. ❤❤❤❤
He has really improved since the day I saw him on stage ( july 2012)!!!
Så vackert ❤ Bäste Peter ...tårögd 😥🥰

Saw him last week in phantom of the opera in broadway. He was superb and sounded very much like Michael Crawford

While I was in New York, my parents surprised me with tickets to POTO. Peter was the Phantom, and he was amazing. :)
Magiskt 💖🙏
So much better than he did at the 25th anniversary
He was nervous
You go, Peter!
Wow! 💕💕.
BEST PHANTOM EVER. I saw him in the play and it's so fucking amazing, he touches my heart every time I hear his performances. He made my dad cry, I couldn't believe it!
Very good singer
His eyes at the end just makes me wanting to become a man and just take him right there!

bigoldinosaur a lot of people in Sweden are fluent in English, I believe it's taught in schools
notagiant1 youre right. Its taught in school from age ~8
In Italy it is taught from age 6 or even before and yet we STILL suck at it
PHANTOM OF THE OPERA ! **
wow.

I'm talking about this performance, not every single one he has ever done.
Peter's my favorite Phantom, then Ramin :)

Sjunger ju bra helt klart men lite klen röst, ingen bas.

hade Jöback sjungit vinnarlåten hade vinsten i Eurovision varit garanterad.
What happened with the stringsarrangement at the end? The last progression completely fails with him keeping the same tone xD
Annars, super.
Låter ju underbart om den tas rätt. Och det gör den inte här tyvärr...
He sings beautifully and his voice is so special
But I think not everyone will like his voice...
