I keep wondering... When will someone make a digital version of this? Some relatively cheap self contained digital multi core solution, for when a Dante/AVB/etc. stagebox is way overkill, but you still needs more than 4 channels of audio. Should be doable?
It is doable, I’ve even got a video where I made one. ruclips.net/video/LeQC4xT9qa4/видео.htmlsi=XIEkWNoPG0hOMfEY
The issue is the cost for the Audinate Dante chips and the licensing fees to develop a product through their developer program. If you can afford buying ten ultimo chips at a time, they will sell them to you outside of the dev program, but for anything bigger than two channels you’ve got to go through the whole expensive process.
@@DcSoundOp Yeah, I get that... But is Dante the only available tech for this? If what you are going to sell is simply two boxes with e.g. 16 xlrs routed end to end, ANY protocol with a decently low latency should do? Maybe some AVB implementation? I guess it's a matter of balancing development cost vs expected ROI, but this kind of product SHOULD be selable to a quite broad market, given a low enough price.
I guess Music Group's Stageconnect-boxes is the closest we get today. Or have I misunderstood the specs on those?
So what is it…….😂
