oh thank you!!!! Don't worry, I don't hold with Rav Dimi on this one - I get where he is coming from (um, Babylonia) but I think positive comments are good and encouraging! And they help cancel out the negative ones lollll. I am truly honored you like my Daf content. Daf is life!
Idk why I immediately thought of that famous tweet, "You can say "I like pancakes" and somebody will say "So you hate waffles?" 😅 also backhanded compliments are defo the worst lashon hara, if someone praises my calligraphy I sure hope they're being sincere
Thanks for helping me get through daf in such a fun way. U totally rock ( but not to much... don't want the haters to come and say otherwise 😉😆) love ya 💜
It is my joy to be able to daf with you and be on this journey. This bananas journey. And thank you for the compliment! I'll take it, no matter what Rav Dimi says!
Brilliant content! Your explanation is so insightful and engaging! Just one small note: at 3:53, the third one is actually avak lashon hara (the 'dust' of lashon hara), which includes situations where even if a person doesn’t speak it, they might hear it. Thank you for sharing such profound knowledge in such an entertaining manner!🤗🌴💎
One if my favorite parts of Final Bava Boss in a while was "don't have evil thoughts or speech...but don't praise people either...because here's why:" but you're right about social media, proof that the internet may have been a bad idea. See comment section for proof (I know you have). So the sages were onto something, even if it wasn't precisely social media. Humans have always been human. Not shocked. At least they admit *all humans*...including themselves...right?
FInal Boss Bava has not been giving what I hoped it would give (I know we are in for a ride with Sanhedrin tho!) But this one was a solid daf! Humans gonna human...and the sages gonna human most of all lol. I know they say the women are the gossips, but some of the sages should look in the mirror (if R' Yochanan isn't too busy using it!)
@@MiriamAnzovin Final Bava Boss Battle is an attorney. The 1st Gate (Bava Kama) began November 4, 2023...back when it was pits and destruction by animals. December 18, 2024 we beat the Bava Boss...spacing of lines, witnesses, and all. It may not have been sexy, but time is the actual Bava Boss...who is a "well actually, objection your honor!" attorney (after waves of many). Almost there!
Surely the answer, though, isn't to say "speak no good or ill of anyone," but instead to teach people from a young age to know how to behave politely? I know, I know, it isn't perfect, but we'd leave a vast amount of knowledge out of world history if we didn't bother to record both the good and bad things people have done. Who's going to remember anything of what people do if we're not allowed to talk about the things people do? I say, let's communicate knowledge, and teach people the skill of responding well to what they hear.
Lucky for us, the talmud itself is a documentation of recorded knowledge/both good and bad things people have done. Rav dimi might have said this is how he holds, but his take on this was not so popular it became widespread
@@MiriamAnzovin So it could be said that the Talmud's final answer on all of this is, "Some rabbis interpret the teachings to say that we should not pass around stories about good or bad things people have done. All of these stories are recorded here to be passed around for purposes of instruction." In the end, we always seek to learn to be better, even if it causes some ruffled feathers in the moment.
@@MiriamAnzovin True! It's sort of the internet sign-off of its age. "Who do you think is in the right? Answer in the comments below! And while you're arguing, don't forget to ritually bathe, burn incense, and subscribe!"
"Yehuda Hayatta, what a wonderful phrase..." (It means no worries!) I think Rav Dimi was the one who was ahead of his time. Anticipating social media is a much bigger leap than buses or the printing press. It's almost as prescient as Rashi posting the first explainer content series. Apropos of nothing, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your outfit!
Rav dimi may have been on to something in that - I know he traveled between Babylonia and Eretz yisrael all the time so maybe he also traveled to the FUTURE! And lol please write this lion king parody!
Shalom friend! At the risk of La'shon Hara, you are the BEST Daf Yomi educator on social media.

Yes! You are correct! A smidgeon of Lashon Hara! A vibe of Lashon Hara! A light dusting of Lashon Hara! Thank you so much for watching the video!
You sure make this 7 year journey more fun and memorable- Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤❤
You are so welcome!!
I am still enjoying your reactions. Always interesting and bringing a very enjoyable perspective.
Thank you so much!

Soooo, I guess I will just drop a like? Thanks for posting.
Lollllll I don’t hold by Rav dimi’s ruling! But thank you!

INDEED!!!!! Yes! (although I might argue the Talmud often does not give us final answers - it mainly gives us questions :-)
