The huge building at the beginning is the dragon pit (the ruins of it is where Cersei and Daenerys met in season 7). The Sept of Baelor hasn't been built yet at this time.

Daemon Targaryen aka the Rogue Prince was my favorite character from the book, and WOW !!! Matt Smith really hit it out of the park with his portrayal of the character. I knew Matt would do well base on what I saw in the trailers, but lord his acting of the character has been perfection in my eyes.

Reasons why I love the GOT mythology: Epic world building. Great scenery. Complex characters that falls in the gray area like The Boys. Unpredictability. Shocking scenes.

Normally you would be right about the futility of using a sword against a knight in full armor, but Daemon weilds Dark Sister, one of the two Targaryen ancestral Valerian steel swords. Viserys holds the other, Blackfyre.
Plus not totally true. There are gaps in armor as bronn showed fighting for tryion and brienne multiple times. Armor doesn’t cover every inch but yes HUGE safety advantage
Love your reactions! Aemma and Viserys were cousins. We’re pretty sure Aegon’s secret was lost until Daenerys’ grandfather was told of the prophecy by a Woods Witch, and then Rhaegar discovered it. The line of succession shifts a lot. However, there is a chance it could’ve been continued to be passed down.
Hey guys this story is an elaborated version of the "Dance of Dragons" that Shereen read to her father during Season 5 or 6 of GOT. If you watch the Lore of Game of THrones season 4 or 5 I think they dive into it with more detail.
Daemon is a typical GRRM character, in that he's complicated and neither all good nor all bad. Other characters have been introduced who appear simple so far, but who have far more going on than you know yet.
The secret lived on because the mad king, Aerys II told it to his heir, who was John Snow's real father, Daenarys older brother, Crown Prince Rhaegar. There is a reference to this in Season 7 (I think) of the original Game of Thrones.

fun fact: king Viserys went to see the skull of Balerion because Balerion was his dragon. Viserys was the last rider of Balerion before the old dragon died of old age. Viserys chose Balerion to be his dragon when Balerion was really old dragon senior because Viserys was romantic and nice guy and wanted the old dragon to have some fun and exercise. The young prince Viserys rode the dragon for only one year. Balerion died few years before Viseryses daughter princess Rhaenyra was born.
Its highly possible that the Targaryen habit of keeping the skulls of the dragons started there because Balerion was probably the first big dragon to die in Kings Landing and Viserys wanted to have his friend close forever.

That end argument between brother and king is what makes game of thrones so great. They are both right. Characters and different problems are grey area just like real life. Not so cut and dry good and bad like most movies. I don’t think the king is weak just pretty nice and loved his brother but yes others in council are probably out for themselves and daemon is right he would stop them but they aren’t violent towards king so not totally nesacarry.

They portray the king as a lot older than in the books. He was in his 30s at this time in the book history. Where he looks like he's in his 50's in the show. But they had to portray the princess as older than she was in the books, because she was a teenager having sex in the books but they can't have that on TV. If the princess is going to look like she's in her 20s her father can't be in his 30's.
I believe that Princess Rhaenyra is supposed to be 14 or 15 in the first episode. (the actress who plays the young Rhaenyra was in her early 20's). Alicent was 14 (and played, when young, by an actress who turned 18 during the filming).
The fighting in the tournament and the queens childbirth was a contrast showing how daily life can be a battle. sometimes normal life can bring you pain and scars that are hard to heal if heal at all.

I never read any of the books but I do my research for each character from Wiki of Fire & Ice, Reddit, or Quora posts. They can spoil things though. After one episode, I think I like Daemon, Viserys (good king), and Rhaenys (The Queen Who Never Was) the most.
Rhaenys seems like a bad-ss from what I'm reading about her. She's a dragon rider. She's the one narrating the story in the beginning like you're watching the start of LOTR. I have no problem with a Black actor casted as Lord Corlys (Rhaenys' husband). The racism needs to stop. The bleach blonde dreadlocks looks weird though.
From what I'm hearing from folks who've read the books, none of them are "good" characters. They're all pretty bad. Right now, it looks like I'm on Team Black. But once Blood and Cheese happens, I might switch my allegiance to Team Green. The series could have enough twists and turns that your emotions for each major character can be all over the place like a roller-coaster 🎢.
I didn't like Sansa Stark initially and loved Arya. By the end of the series, I ended up liking Sansa more and hating Arya. To some of us, Arya was mostly fan service to female viewers. Her killing the Night King felt like we got cheated years anticipating for him. Who knows if the writers will whitewash these HOTD characters to make them more likeable like they did to Tyrion?
Expect the unexpected. Expect more incests, betrayal, and brutal, shocking murders. It's become protocol with this mythology. I do expect Daemon to be the most popular Targaryen of all-time especially for male viewers. I didn't think Daenerys was beloved across the world. Some of us had problems with Emilia's acting. While Daemon is who is he is whether you like him or not. Matt Smith is going to be awesome in this!

Making one Velaryon black kills the story because logic is thrown out of window. Targaryens married Velaryons for centuries. They are their next door neighbours for gods sakes. King Aegon Conquerers mother was Velaryon. Kind Jaehaerys mother (the old kind at the beggining of the episode) was also Velaryon. Why wasnt the old king Jaehaerys black? Why are not all targaryens half black? Because the showrunners are racist and dont care if black characters make sense.
The last scene of this episode just points out how poor the ending of GoT was. Arya should not have killed the Night's King. That is not the Song of Ice and Fire.
Daemon is not wrong, his brother if not weak, is at least, very naive. I feel sorry for the king, a council is supposed to advise, but Viserys lets his council rule his kingdom. It was not smart in Game of Thrones, and it is not smart in House of Dragons. Plus, it was risky keeping a Hightower on the council, the maesters are based in Oldtown which is the Hightower family seat. It is safe to say that the grand maester and lord Hightower likely vote along similar lines. It would make the king easier to manipulate, and the fact that the maester is also the main healer in the Red Keep, there is a lot of danger there.

Daemon Targaryen is George RR Martin's favorite character. Matt Smith really oozes CHARISMA portraying him. He's volatile and unpredictable. Makes him interesting like Homelander.

Was not a fan of Otto Hightower trying to prostitute his own daughter, Alicent, to King Viserys. I mean, c'mon, that's his own daughter's friend who will eventually be her arch nemesis.
I will definitely be more invested into this show than She-Hulk. Jennifer Walters can rant about all her catcalls while she claims Steve Rogers was a virgin with a great -ss! 🤣 Oops! She-Hulk: Attorney Of Law and annoying, #metoo, SJW Karen.
The gist of the story is Alicent will become Rhaenyra's stepmother as she will become 2nd wife to Viserys. They will eventually feud as Viserys will die while Alicent will have Aegon II to claim the throne.
It's older daughter vs. half-brother from a mother that was friends with her when they were kids. This Targaryen civil war is going to tear their House apart. The Mad King and his daughter two centuries later will only put the final nail in the coffin to their claims.
The show looks CLEAN. The CGI of the dragons looks extremely polished. I just hope HOTD gives us more fun characters like GOT had with early season Tyrion, Bronn, Tormund, Davos, and Euron. Perhaps not too much or it's starting to become MCU like Thor: Love And Thunder where even Stage 4 cancer and planning for orgies becomes jokes.
So far, only Daemon is the most interesting and fun so far at least for me. He's like Anakin Skywalker if Anakin never turned into the dark side. But then he left the Jedi Order as well because he wasn't promoted to the Jedi Council. That's Daemon. He'll go rogue. That's why he's known as the Rogue Prince.
Daemon is very much like The Gray Man or a Gray Jedi. He's not really good but he isn't really evil either. He's just very ambitious and temperamental. He seems less evil than Homelander but he can still snap at any time. Let's just say he's complicated like Jaime Lannister. And that's why he's GRRM's favorite.
Don't trust Otto Hightower, Viserys. Trust your own brother! 🤦🏻♂️ Blood is thicker than water and the Targs' blood is thick. But as Daemon said, Viserys is weak. He's just too nice and gullible like Tommen "Baratheon".
Alicent Hightower is basically the new Margaery Tyrell but even younger. She's essentially a handmaiden to Rhaenyra since her father serves as a Hand to Viserys. She's now forced to sleep her way up the throne by taking advantage of weak-minded, vulnerable royalty like Margaery did. Or even like Kamala Harris.. 🤣 Otto is already showing his slime like Littlefinger.
Targs in HOTD are like Jedis in the SW prequels. This is their heyday when dragons flew around and wasn't a rarity. Then the Targs and their dragons became nearly extinct like the Jedis after Revenge Of The Sith.
The moral of the story from GOT lore is this: Don't have Targaryens ruling because they're the only family with dragons. They can burn up the entire world by yelling, DRACARYS! It's pretty obvious to viewers that they shouldn't rule. It's like making Superman or Homelander the ruler of Earth.
Let the Targs fight each other. As the trailers said, their greatest enemy is really each other. Perhaps Daenerys Targaryen's death starts to make a lot more sense once HOTD is done? Why have a ruler with nuclear weapons called dragons?
If you watch The Crown, having a monarchy 👑 is so outdated and so bad to society. Not everyone qualifies being a good ruler but they're put in those positions simply by birthright. Monarchy is really a bad thing to have.
GOT was never going to end with aunt and nephew as lovers and living happily ever after as King & Queen. GOT isn't Disney. If you want corny endings that makes your heart flutter, watch a Disney animated movie from the 90s. The final season (or final 2 eps) of GOT was still pretty bad though. No excuses for the bad writing.
I think people watching House Of The Dragon also gave us nostalgic vibes. I still consider Game Of Thrones the GOAT TV show. It's not my favorite. I know it didn't end well but it's the GOAT. Whether HOTD surpasses it, only time will tell. GOT did come first even if HOTD serves as a prequel story.
The scenery and costume design are incredible in Westeros. The lore is extremely rich in history. I think watching HOTD last night made us want to return to these beautiful locales we missed from it. We want to be enchanted in this beautiful world again. The reason I started watching RUclips reactors was from the Red Wedding scene. I was stunned 🤯 that I replayed it several times after seeing it in mid-2016.
Keep giving us HOTD content, Sean. It's good to expand from beyond the MCU and Star Wars crowd. There's going to be tons of people watching this. Tyrone Magnus didn't even watch GOT and he's watching this. Poor Andor though. The timing for it isn't the best since it comes out in the middle of HOTD's 1st season.

I wish when people say how horrible it is to be a girl or woman in these days try to imagine being a boy or a man in these days. The brutality and the fear of violence that comes with being a man like going into war and battle and knowing you might not come back. Men might not show it because they are expected not to show emotions or again, violence from their fathers or brother’s rain on them. So it’s not easy being a man either.

The forced C - section scene to the queen in parallel with the tournament scene was absolutely powerful . And in both scenes Targaryens lost ! King lost too , wife and the son , who chose to saved . Tragic Irony hah? And now king , he must choose a knew heir , as he knows his decision , maybe will destroy the dynasty !
Damn !! Great scriptwriting ! What can I say , if they go for it like pilot to the next episodes ... GOT , will be past ! But no in our hearts all we loved it as it is . I notice the grimace of Larry when seeing the diversity of this show. Firstly it is a fictional show but in Western and Southern European there were plenty of black people in medieval times in Europe that is shown in painting and tapestries from medieval times. In fact the character in the deadlocks is loosely based on the real African King Musa Mansa who is said to be the richest human to have ever existed human history because he controlled the spice and salt routes of the world during medieval times. But he like precolonial black European history was erased or hidden because there was an agenda to dehumanise Africans to justify colonialism and slavery and that meant wiping precolonial black history from record

Many of the marriages among lords were arranged or commanded without the spouses publicly insulting each other. Usually, love was not expected in a marriage; only respect and honor and (hopefully) children.

(Spoiler) You could argue that Raenerya was the first Queen as she was legitimately crowned heir and ascended on the death of her father - the current King Viserys. It was contested by the second family of the King which will be explored later during the disastrous Targ civil war. Also Cersei was Queen of Westoros before Dany. As Dany never had a coronation or sat the throne, you could argue she conquered but was never crowned. However, the prophecy still stands. As Jon is a Targ he United the realm to fight and Dany also bought the ready to join…song of ice and fire. As for the new prophecy being passed down - Raegar new which will s why he eloped with Lyanna Stark and bore Jon.

26:39 Given his grief-stricken state, I doubt that the king would accept the kind of "comfort" that Viki was worried about. Tragically childbirth was amongst the most common causes of fatality in young women (and for infants too), in the ancient and medieval periods. All this bodes well for a strong series in the The Game of Thrones mould, so far. Those concerned about being "let down" based on the last series of GoT maybe shouldn't worry too much this time.

I was late to the GOT party by about 4-5 years. I saw S1 & half of S2 of GOT with my gf back in 2015. My gf didn't connect with it by the middle of the 2nd season. While I did love that Blackwater episode (S2E9) once I continued on watching without her.
It did feel mostly slow and boring to both of us initially. Too many characters were being presented to us. Too many times jumping from one location to another. We were more into The Walking Dead at the time. Obviously, TWD declined by S7.
I put off watching GOT for a year. I did watch S1-S3 but I only put it in the background. What's funny is I replayed it many times but I never reached The Rains of Castamere episode that features THAT SCENE that shocked us all because I kept replaying earlier eps.
Then one day in 2016, I played that S3E9 but kinda watching it, kinda not. Once I saw the Red Wedding, holy 💩! I kept replaying that scene. The Red Wedding is responsible to why I began watching RUclips reactors like The Normies, Akasan, and Imon Snow.
Then I put off watching S4-S6 for another half a year. Man, once I saw that episode, The Mountain and the Viper (S4E8) around late-2016, I was hooked! I binged watched it from there. Then epic episodes like The Watchers On The Wall, Hardhome, and Battle of the Bastards kept pulling me into this incredibly deep mythology.
I was already caught up by Season 7 (2017) and Season 8 (2019). You can be late to the party like I was and you can still enjoy the hell of it. Heck, I didn't even get into Star Wars until I was 16 when the Special Editions came out in early 1997. I used to think Star Wars looked boring. I was more into Back To The Future and Indiana Jones.
Trust me, you'll be very hooked once you finish GOT that first time even with that bad final season. The world building is epic. Discussions for it can be interesting. Each episode looks more massive and more expensive than expensive sword and sandles movies like Braveheart (1995), Gladiator (2000), and Troy (2004).
Looks better than all these Disney+ series like Obi-Wan Kenobi. You'll feel enchanted by the beauty of Westeros and the beautiful locales they filmed it at. And it can be unpredictable because many of these characters aren't good people and writers do have the liberties to change certain things up.
Game of Thrones even with that bad final season is still the GOAT TV series to me. Just take S1-S6 and it's more legendary vs. any other show. So many likeable characters and epic episodes. House of the Dragon could surpass it. Daemon is already a popular character among book fans. Only time will tell. But HOTD is off to a very good start.
The final season wasn't the only bad season, which is why it isn't the "GOAT TV series", not even close lol

@@zbynekurbanek3345 One of my good friends absolutely hates Rhaegar because he cheated on hes wife and wished that in the books he is not the father of John Snow. He pointed out that Rhaegar's actions caused the destruction of House of Targaryen, civil war and death of thousands so pretty much he's is insane or weak.
@@Chivaltic nope. Its just a myth that Robert went to war because of Lyanna. Thats just old Roberts imagination. The war started because the mad king burned lord Stark and his son and sent word to the Vale to give him Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon because he wants to kill them. Up to that point it was just a minor diplomatic incident. Only Rhaegars fault was that he was not present to stop this because he was on his honeymoon with his new wife.
