i think it works like when the infected is about to die they turn into the plant version of the infection and start creating spores to continue to spread the infection but your point also makes sense i can see how that would work

you missed the dialogue at the being after the prologue where the 2 people where talking at the dumpster if u wait they will talk to joel

Well seeing as how bloaters and clickers were "infected a long time" im guessing the fungus kind of took over and destroyed most needs

I had it in my original cut of the video but due to time constraints and the video not rendering correctly I had to cut it in addition a couple of other small sections. Sorry :/

I think most of the infected encountered in this mission were ones that were infected within like the past couple of days.
