There are some people in this world that you can assist, and with your help, they flourish. These are those people.
The problem is, other than them coming to a stable situation like the US or Canada or England, how do you help these people? Their homes are destroyed, everywhere they turn, people are trying to rob them, they've got no chance and there's very little we can do to help them. We can just watch.
It is sad to see my own kind, human kind to suffer, we are one civilization, a speck of dust in the universe, we live in this world for not too long, but we live those days only for suffering, what a hard world we live in, yet our own kind doesn't help each other because we have a system to follow. Crazy world.
Preach
Most of the illegal immigrants and asylum seekers are people like them, who have a good heart and good intention, and are hardworking, who only leave their native land out of desperation. Heartbreaking documentary.
So much suffering in this world. I don't know what the solution is.
Less humans. The planet is trying to heal itself by killing us off.
The solution is to end capitalism.
We have to disassemble and and scrap ships / recycle ships from the us and china. But most importantly we have to get the message out any type of war down the line is a big no!! 💯
There are many problems with many solutions, but not one solves them all, is and endurance work, if you can't find one keep looking and with time maybe one will appear. Only thing we can do is our best and keep going
The answer is yeshua
Its 12 k to hire a smuggler?? Jesus im in America and I couldn't pay that either.
It can go more, had a couple of cousins and uncles that failed a couple of times, we picked some of our fam in Nogales and drove back to Cali, honestly I’ll drive where ever to pick them up i know how treacherous the journey can be
Remember though he is middle aged and giving up everything, most middle aged American could find a way to get 12,000. This would be more like 50k for you.
Makes you wonder what they can do with that money in their own country ?

Totalmente de acuerdo, hermano.
This is very very sad. I have family in El Salvador. I Pray they come to Canada 🇨🇦 🙏
If I knew how to find them I would get them outta there.
As well I pray for everyone there, it's sad the hurricane and the cartels they have to get passed. I pray the cartels don't find these people cause they will be robbed and killed trying to find a better life. I pray the army and military can go into them areas and air lift them to safety with their pets. I feel for the pets as well just sad makes me cry 😢 😭 😪 😞

Praying for the poors are just ironic...
But come here legally right 🙄 if people understood the hardship in those countries they would understand why they make these kind of trips.
They live under true capitalism.
Coming illegally makes them just the same as cartel breaking laws for their gains
How do these so-called

@@thatgoofygooberkid533 Cartels work in extortion/drug smuggling etc. things that harm actual people, citizens of the US. These people are breaking laws yes but they're not coming to the US to move drugs or kidnap people. They're going to work underpaid jobs obviously because they're illegal in order to send back crumbs to their family back home. The fact that you're comparing them to cartels is just you being ignorant.

One or all of the following:
1) Sell everything. Even some of these "poor" people can own the land they live on, farm animals, a vehicle, etc.
2) Help from family already in the U.S.
3) Pay the remaining debt once you get settled and start earning $.
Very sad and eye opening. I appreciate Vice for sharing this point of view for displaced people in Central America and why they migrate to the US.
My heart goes out to these people. Very difficult to watch.
Good Lord above, this is one of the most heartfelt, and saddest, documentaries Vice has produced to date. I wish I could, with all my heart, help these folks. They deserve better from their government to help them, and the fact that many people have to rely on foreign aid is heartbreaking in itself.
They used the circumstance as an excuse to migrate. Coming to another F'd up country is not going to solve their problems in their country. All the money and effort spent on migrating can be spent on a better cause.
Maybe you should prey to white Jesus to make it stop cause praying helps so much.

This is so sad 😢. Awww😭
the urgency depicted in the man's manerisms as he assumes the responsibiltity of leaving his home and family to get the rest of his family across the border is striking
Before watching the video I knew they were gonna be taken by the cartel, those guys have been cracking down in the past year and it sucks that even police work for them as well so it's a lose lose situation right there.
From the bottom of my heart please lord savior help this family out and the rest of other families struggling to make a living 💔 🙏 Help the good people my lord 🙏
This makes me sick thinking of the suffering. And it makes me furious that there are people who abuse them and take advantage of their plight. Here in Morelia, Michoacán, we are not on a migrant route but do have Venezuelans and others passing through. Thank God there are people here who help. A family of Guatemalans just came through last week. All we can offer is a place to stay and food, medical attention if needed. And if the money is available, a bus ticket to continue the journey. Bothe the U.S. and Canada need more people to work, and these people would add so much to those countries. Yet all I hear are political infighting and the fears of the right wing. Sad😢.
I wonder if Vice helped the guy out at least a little during and afterwards
I’m sure they did but they can’t cross then over Mexico …
This is just the first stage if we cannot reverse ways and realize that we are one regardless of our birth place.
True -- People need to take
a good look at the countries
(world-wide) that will either
be engulfed with water or
the size of the country's
territory made much smaller.
I dont get it does VICE only record them for awareness and profit for themselves but cant give the family some money?
Why don't you ask them?
Maybe they did.
Simple, economic migration is illegal for asylum. Also the international law for asylum says you have to seek asylum in the first safe country, which is Mexico. How quickly they pass up Mexico when it's definitely better than their country. Imagine your home floods in the US and then you fly to Europe and say you want asylum.... They won't take you. Is what's happening hard, yes, but it doesn't mean you can just come here illegally and have us take care of you...
i hope one day i can be half the man he is.. wow
can anyone explain me when they got kidnaped was the camara crew not on the bus too? why is there no video from that?
My guess is the crew told them they were filming and they told them to erase that part of the footage. It's surprising though that even though there was a film crew there, they didn't care. I thought that might give them some sort of protection.
The crew could also easily have only been on the bus for a brief time to get a few shots and then hopped off to take their own vehicles.
This is heartbreaking.
That was one of the best docos I’ve watched in a long while. Vice news punching above your weight. Well done. So how do we solve the immediate crisis? Lots of aid to corrupt government officials or build community from the grass roots to give people a future where they live. How about one on that?
The beatings by the police, and kidnapping by cartel members - one would think "fellow Catholics/Christians" would be more accommodating. And have enough sympathy in their hearts on POOR MIGRANTS. But, no - money is more important.
And those are the kind that tend to have big icons and other religious articles in their houses to show "how religious" they are. Doesn't really matter whether it's Christian, Islam, Jewish, Hindu, Buddha etc. Goes to show yet again that "spirituality" and one's "moral compass" matter the most. Not "religious affiliation" and fervour.
Things men go through to feed their families!
Not just men, as the women bear the brunt of it.
Corollary = Why have a family when you cannot feed it.
This documentary was very good. Thank you for the people that were on the ground making this.
Blessings to that family
@HunterBidensCrackPipe
You're a minion of the devil. Congrats.
@HunterBidensCrackPipe you're right, can't be the lifeboat for the whole world but that's precisely why the global north and its imperialist countries will have to face in the coming decades. The economies thrive under "cheap labor" aka jobs that would pay these people poverty wages. By your username, I can tell that you're an angry conservative because even you must realize how much your party sucks due to it being a neoliberal party that includes neocons and warhawks.
They have no money for food and are losing their houses, but they have money for masks? Cmon vice!

If they're here in US repairing storm damaged roofs, why couldn't they stay at home and repair their own storm damaged roofs?
have you ever worked construction?? materials cost money cant repair a house with potato chips pal
@@tboyroscoe7266 Money by itself is worthless. It is only usable if there are businesses which make stuff. Thus, to actually help their community, they could start a company which makes construction materials for roofs in their country. Roofs can be made with basic materials like wood, clay tiles, straw or even stones. Before you ask, modern thatch (straw) roofs are actually very durable, fire resistant and good at isolating from heat/cold (it is now becoming popular again in the UK and in France, because it's cheap and more durable than people would believe).
@@PG-3462 Starting that company that you mentioned requires money too.
That's the problem in 3rd world, there is potential business everywhere but there is no resources (money, education etc) to jump start them.

I was indifferent to the whole situation and that guy till I saw his 2 year old baby I have a 2 year old named Jade also she is the sweetest thing I ever had in my life I couldn't imagine leaving her behind for anything cause I don't need to make that decision of leaving her to make the journey to America I couldn't imagine the pain that father felt kissing his baby girl and having to walk away not knowing when's the next time you will see her...I'm gonna hug my baby girl tighter for him
I'm not sure how you could be indifferent. Every day when I see videos like this, I'm reminded of how lucky you are if you're born in the right country and how hellish life can be if you're not. Look at all of the suffering going on in the world right now. We have to do all we can to help, which is very hard in some situations where people live with unstable governments and people trying to rob them every second.

It’s not the US responsibility to take these economic migrants in.
There are arguments that it is. You'd have to have more than a high school diploma to know about any of them though. The history of south America is riddled with U.S. intervention and meddling for the profit of U.S. corporations and the the U.S. government. Much of which set in motion the economic struggles that we see playing out today.

The United States is the most responsible for climate change so it's the United States responsibility to take care of these people. That's not going to happen because the average Joe is easily brainwashed into believing inhumane things in the name of profit.
Ever heard of the banana wars?? The US basically dismantled Central America and turn their governments upside down and started and supported dictatorships all for its own economic interest. So in a way they responsable for the regions misfortunes
No but it would be economically advantageous. The US likes to keep them illegal so the government and the large companies that hire them have no legal obligation towards them. Cut your hand off at the slaughterhouse? Too bad, head back to Honduras and send your brother instead. As a bonus, there's a perpetual immigration crisis that the US can use to distract voters with.
