Watching this video makes me miss when you controlled chibi robo with a stick (you use the touch screen in clean sweep 😭😭) Anyways this was a great video. Ive been WAITING for someone i know to make a video on this game and you definitely did it justice with this one.
ive been saying it for years at this point but i really gotta hop on this game, i think playing moon is what really made this game stand out a lot more, literally every single aspect of this game seems to be derived from moon, the style of progression, the gameplay loop of trying to prioritize your time, the weird wacky world, hell even the sound design is all stuff that moon did first, and i think that completely recontextualized chibi-robo for me, and it makes it all the more depressing that nintendo neglected the series as badly as they did. if you want more stuff like chibi-robo, play moon as for this video itself its probably one of your best, excited to see what next year's like for your channel man, you are GRAND
Honestly such a childhood fever-dream rental game. Always stuck with me, very special game to play at a development time. Probably because it instilled in me the existential horror of constantly slowly dying.
I'd really like to do both at some point but I don't really have a definitive list for the former, and the latter I don't have a lot of good material to work with at the moment
Chibi Robo is one of those franchises where the original entry is just kind of the best one by a considerable margin - largely (but not exclusively) because it's the only console entry. The Japan exclusive DS one definitely takes the silver medal simply by virtue of most closely emulating the original's structure and quality, but it's a sharp drop-off from there. I actually really like Photo Finder for what it is, but it's clearly not a full-sized release, and Park Patrol is DEEPLY flawed, but still has enough in common with the original to not feel completely insulting. Zip Lash is really poo poo though. Like you said, even taken on its own terms it's just an insufferably bland 2D platformer on a system bursting with great ones.
Would love to see your thoughts on the most ambitious crossover game... DreamMix TV World Fighters . I'll go ahead and give you a tip, it is NOT a hidden gem lol. Anyway, love the vid! Chibi-Robo definitely deserves another game!
