The hook inside the tent, at the top, most likely to hang an ‘inner net’ setup. I just bought a 1.5 person full winter inner (read-very little netting) from Luxe as a close out. About $41, cheap. Fits in my MLD Duomid XL just fine. Uses the hook at the top to hang. Nice video.
Third! I’ve liked it, now I’ll watch it! Thanks, man! I LOVE it when you go hot tenting! And the sound of that wood you sawed up for the stove...you just know when you knock two pieces of it together, the sound alone tells you how it’s gonna burn. Nice! The chorizo sausage with the cauliflower rice...forget about it! Looked delicious. I’ve switched to that as well.
I like the idea of the 2 doors; the flexibility for entry is great, especially if you had 2 people in the tent, you wouldn't have to squeeze by each other or the hot stove. It looks like the same material as the OneTigris - 20D Silnylon making this one very light shelter.
I ran two spark arrestors plus a damper. They're near the stove rather than the top of the pipe. You can see that at 34:06 though the screen first screen is inline below the damper. I like the Cnoc bag and working on a review. Thanks for watching brother!
Good to see you again. As I always you bring something new to the table. I have a snowmobile hot tent situation but lack a potential future backpack option. This tent looks perfect. I like buying American but there expensive and it’s not worth it if I don’t get to use it much. My snowmobile equipment right now works so I don’t want to get one nice tent for both situations. I am not worried about the leaves. Too wet to burn this time of the year. The ticks are an issue but they're all over. I spent just as much time around the shelter as in it. Also the leaves are a shield from the wet cold ground. This time of the year they're a net positive IMO. Now in August that's another story. More ticks and drier. Thanks for watching!

MegaWoodswalker liked how you repurposed your piss for the environment! That quilt jacket is at the end of it's days for sure perhaps Santa will replace?
Nice inexpensive set up , I'm really considering going hot tent, and building a walking trailer to carry the luxury of it, my knees ain't what they were,
That little stove will work great unless you have high winds and than trouble can happen. The vent pipe can and will be blown over causing a real disaster for your camp sight.
For that price, that is a good backpacking tipi. It certainly rivals anything that OneTigris has available that all the RUclips gear reviewers are posting about. How does it compare to your small Kifaru 4 man tipi? It will be interesting to see how this shelter holds up during winter outings.
The 4-man is much stronger given the 1000d tie-offs, cone, thicker pole etc. etc. However for the money it seems good! I think it might be a similar tipi as the OneTigris but with the second door option. Not sure but will know more after the first snow storm. Thanks!
I see it wasn't just the tent that was ultralight...the stove is lightweight too...titanium...and sticker shock of $360 . I had never seen a stovepipe that rolled up like that. I doubt I could get a regular roll of tin from the hardware store to roll the opposite direction that it is packaged in. Is the stovepipe titanium too ??? I may opt to build my own clunky stove out of an oversized ammo can. Won't be anything ultralight about it. I like that tent too...nice to see colors that blend in to the scenery.
Everything about the stove is Ti minus the stainless legs and nuts. I am working on an inexpensive stainless take down stove which will be cheap and UL. The video will be out in a few weeks.
@@MegaWoodswalker Have you seen some of the military parachute shelters posted on youtube ? Can make a tipi out of them or some other shelter. I got a parachute for $45 at an indoor flea market a few months ago...had never seen one sold before. In the same booth there is another one for sale again. I'm tempted to buy it too ! :D
Interesting design of stove pipe. Your presentation was too quick for me to analyse properly. However the pipe seems to roll up to its width which requires less space in transit.
Thank you for sharing, I just received fltom hot tent and I needed some guidance on the set up and vent pipe. Was wondering why it didn't come w any poles at first and now I see why!
Hey Kevin, thanks! the video I've been waiting for. Never heard of the Alibaba before. Been seeing a lot of RUclips videos recently on the One Tigris/Black Orca Smokey Hut tents (which I never heard of either until very recently). They're about $140. I was about to pull the trigger on one. Now I have to go check out the one you have! your tent looks very similar to the Smokey Hut. Frying pan looks nice too. Wish I could have got a great deal on the Exped too. Can't ask for much more - Camping, Hot Tent and Sacred Bacon! Interested to see how your tent does in the dead of winter. I was leary on getting the One Tigris since the price was so affordable and how it would do in extreme weather.
It feels better than expected for the money. Honestly I was expecting trash and was pleasantly surprised. My Kifaru Tipi is also sil nylon so am used to thin materials for a tipi. However until I weather a few storms in the shelter really can’t say. There are a bunch of good design elements to the shelter.
Ok. Thanks for the reply. I just bought a Luxe Megahorn today for the pulk sled setup. I like the idea of a fast and light set up for backpacking. I had the Sierra Designs Mountain Tarp tipi with a sewn in silicon stove jack. Still don’t know why I sold it. 70D nylon. I hope the Megahorn is just as good. I bought the white one. We shall see. Cheers
Rain isn't an issue unless a person sets up in an area of poor drainage. This tent handled bad weather well as can be seen in this video. ruclips.net/video/AUm59wYqlOk/видео.html I don't know of any budget hot tents with floors that are backpackable.
Nature of the beast for many floorless shelters because of the outer pegs, center pole and contours of the ground. The pro side is gaps allow air to flow in (woodstove and you both need air) however also cold. I like to cover the gaps with snow or leaf litter but if really sealed will crack a door open a bit. A liner (this tent doesn't have one) is often grounded on the inside so can act as a seal. Some shelters have something called a sod cloth which helps create a seal to the ground. Not this one however.
My spark arrestor and damper are at the base of the pipe not the top. This is better IMO as the heat is higher and burns screens clean. If the fire is strong enough flames can shoot out the pipe. Once had flames going 3 feet out the top. However it's best to run the stove slower whenever possible. Thanks for watching!
Great video, but we had -24c this past Monday and Tuesday and 6" of frost in the ground already..No snow though yet to talk about. Still need my first fall/winter camp-out.....cheers Fred
Any tips for sewing the Velcro to the silicone stovejack fabric? Hand sew vs machine, needle and thread thickness, etc. Going to tackle one of these myself. So far, the stickyback Velcro doesn't stick and too goopy on the sewing needle. Talking with the wife about a denim sewing setup to see if it'd work. Any tips help. Thanks. And as always, enjoy watching your adventures. Have a good one.
I used the stick on velcro to hold it. At first tried the sewing machine but the material was too think. A few miles for my house there is a seamstress. She did it in 30 seconds. 5 bucks. My advice is do the same.
@@MegaWoodswalker I'm a sucker for punishment. ;) I swapped out the sticky back Velcro with double sided glue free Velcro wrap (easier to sew) and spent most of the evening hand stitching the Velcro to the stovejack fabric. I cut a 8 point star out for the pipe to feed through like Seek Outside does, and seam sealed any exposed threads on the silicone stovejack. I can't wait to try it out on the tipi.
New person here. May be slightly silly, but when you came on & said "Hey everybody, it's a walker", I lil'd thinking if The walking dead series! Well, if you were one, it must've been recent & you haven't "turned" yet, or, are one of the "whisperers" only in reverse, using "regular" person to hide the idea you're a walker!!
João Caiado, yet it clearly says “chorizos” on the package... Spanish for smoked pork sausage. Not much of a mystery, too bad you had to waste your time for those that lack critical thinking or basic observation skills LOL.
O.k that does look interesting...although they dont seem to have it in brown anymore. How worried are you about sparks and the whole thing catching fire in comparison to a canvas hot tent? Cause i prefer them but they seem to only come in huge sizes and are insanely heavy. Thanks for any responses.
I have been using Sil nylon tipi shelters for around 15 years now. The worst is a pin hole from an ember. More expensive ones like this Kifaru 4-man are made of sil nylon though probably of higher quality. ruclips.net/video/HuUjhnna-rY/видео.html
Looks like a nice tent. Would it have more condensation if you were to add a bathtub floor? Maybe you could add another vent? Looks roomy. Thanks for sharing your experience and opinion on this tent. ATB.
I recently spent a weekend winter camping in Algonquin Park in Ontario, Canada. This video caught my attention as I've been looking at hot tents. Thanks for sharing this trip. I just might place an order for this tent. Thanks man. Mike in Toronto, Canada
Thanks for the video - I am looking to enlarge on my Kifaru paratipi and small folding stove so I’ll try to find a “toucan tipi chimney tent” via Google, unless you can post a link. You’re obviously a fellow “geardo” but can I suggest you edit your videos - not sure how much value anyone gets from almost 8 solid minutes of you gathering a few saplings, then sawing & splitting. After the first one, I think we can all follow the narrative LOL.

I wish you where a little more detailed on the stove , did it have a pull out tray to dump your ashes? Or do you have to scoop the ashes out ? And can you control the air flow intake ? Did the wood burn to hot and to fast ? It’s a neat set up and that’s what Iam looking for to buy For a long term set up. The price seems good
I need to scoop out ash usually once a day. There is a damper and thick wood will burn slower once there is a coal base and the system is easier to control. No ash tray, it's made to be as UL as possible. Thanks for watching!
Will know more this winter. The first snow storm will tell. The other day I seam sealed all the stitching including tie-offs. This should make it stronger. I do this even on my expensive shelters.
How were you able to ask for second door in the tipi? I don't see option when ordering. Do I have to deal with vendor directly? Definitely getting one....
Easily over 100 F when the stove is cranking in a smaller hot tent. Once had a fox run into a tipi plus some rodent issues but overall by mid November the bears are in their dens. Thanks for watching!
I want one of those...where did you find it, please? Did you say it doesn't come with the stove jack but that you had to make it yourself? I heard there are stove jacks for sale too

U should make a video on what foods to cook while camping and how to start a cooking fire when not having chorcaol
I think the tent is the same. Even at 140 IMO it's a good deal. I will know this winter on how it holds up. Thanks for watching!
@@MegaWoodswalker Thanks Kevin, I really want to get into hot tenting and you are a great inspiration for me. Appreciate your videos.
So do you think it’s worth it ? It’s only 20D sil nylon. Ultra light for sure. But fragile. Does it meet the Walkers approval ?
Cheers
Nice video Walker!
Thanks!
Sooo what happens when it rains? Do hot tents not come with floors?
Rain isn't an issue unless a person sets up in an area of poor drainage. This tent handled bad weather well as can be seen in this video. ruclips.net/video/AUm59wYqlOk/видео.html I don't know of any budget hot tents with floors that are backpackable.
Why do they have gaps at the bottom? I’ve noticed that on a few different hot tents. Forgive the noob question.
“Portuguese things”. I believe Goya is of hispaña mi amigo.😏
What about snakes or critters getting in with you under the edges of the tent? Lol. I enjoy the videos. 👍🏻
If you have snakes crawling around at 0°F, you have bigger issues to worry about than a gap under your tent.
No spark arrestor on top? I saw flame shoot out? What's that caused by? Oh I see your buying one.....yes I am curious though what's the flame from.
Awesome Video, “I’m not going to lie to you, I pissed on-um”...!!!
Thanks!
Great video, but we had -24c this past Monday and Tuesday and 6" of frost in the ground already..No snow though yet to talk about. Still need my first fall/winter camp-out.....cheers Fred
Maybe soon for the snow. Thanks for watching!
Great vid as always, thank you!
Thanks!
One strike fire! Bushcraft master!! 😁
LOL!
Nah......CGI.
Yeah he wants to become a zombie.
I am a moderator over on ZS. Thanks for watching!
Titanium is expensive.
I love your videos!
Erik
For those in the comments trying to find out, the portuguese thing is called chouriço. It’s a pork smoked sausage
João Caiado, yet it clearly says “chorizos” on the package... Spanish for smoked pork sausage. Not much of a mystery, too bad you had to waste your time for those that lack critical thinking or basic observation skills LOL.
Thanks!
@@UrbanNeanderthal thank you for your comment. It was very astute and educational.
Will this set up keep you dry and warm should it rain?
ATB.
Overall I the best solution for condensation is a liner and running the stove. However no liner for this tent. Thanks for watching.
Thanks. See you in the next one.
I recently spent a weekend winter camping in Algonquin Park in Ontario, Canada. This video caught my attention as I've been looking at hot tents. Thanks for sharing this trip. I just might place an order for this tent. Thanks man. Mike in Toronto, Canada
Thanks!
There is a link to the tent in the description. Thanks for watching!
MegaWoodswalker, thanks for the reply - thought I looked there but will find it now.

@@UrbanNeanderthal Here is the stove jack material. ripstopbytheroll.com/products/stove-jack-material
That downed tree in the beginning looks like fatwood heaven.
I enjoyed your video but didn't get the name or where to purchase the tent and the actual stove could you provide that for me anyway thank you
I wish you where a little more detailed on the stove , did it have a pull out tray to dump your ashes? Or do you have to scoop the ashes out ? And can you control the air flow intake ? Did the wood burn to hot and to fast ? It’s a neat set up and that’s what Iam looking for to buy For a long term set up. The price seems good
I need to scoop out ash usually once a day. There is a damper and thick wood will burn slower once there is a coal base and the system is easier to control. No ash tray, it's made to be as UL as possible. Thanks for watching!
Nice set up.
Thanks!
looks like a good affordable starter tent hope it ends up being a good one
Will know more this winter. The first snow storm will tell. The other day I seam sealed all the stitching including tie-offs. This should make it stronger. I do this even on my expensive shelters.
How were you able to ask for second door in the tipi? I don't see option when ordering. Do I have to deal with vendor directly? Definitely getting one....
They only had the double door in brown so paid the extra. I would ask for the option as know they make it. Thanks for watching!
You shouldn't speed up the videos, part of the fun & entertainment is watching them and hearing the sounds in real time....
Thanks for watching!
When it's really cold outside, how warm can you expect it to get inside? Do you ever have problems with bears or critters? I enjoy all your videos.
Easily over 100 F when the stove is cranking in a smaller hot tent. Once had a fox run into a tipi plus some rodent issues but overall by mid November the bears are in their dens. Thanks for watching!
@@MegaWoodswalker
Ok, thanks, didn't think about the bears hibernating, would love to try this type of camping, I watch all your videos, thanks again.
I want one of those...where did you find it, please? Did you say it doesn't come with the stove jack but that you had to make it yourself? I heard there are stove jacks for sale too
There are links in the description for the tent and the material I made the jack from. Mobile so it's hard for me to copy and paste on the fly however check out the video description and thanks for watching!
If you compared the kifaru material would you say its a whole lot of difference?
Kifaru is better in terms of materials. 1000d cone etc etc. For the money it’s really good IMO but Kifaru is the standard for materials.
