For those who dont have capo and want the original tune, the chord progression is G, A, Bm, A. This is why he change it because Bm is a bit hard for beginner. Its a bar chord.

I've noticed that yes, the strumming pattern is the same throughout the song, but you appear to be putting emphasis at certain notes, and it's a little fast. I'm having trouble figuring out which notes/beats those are on, and I'm not too musically inclined. Which ones are those?
After slowing it down to 50%and watching a section for 10 minutes, I have figured an answer:
|F*F F F*|F G*G G|Am*Am Am Am*|Am G* G G|
The *s represent the notes he is placing emphasis on to turn a DDDD pattern into a more melodic cadence.
Like others have stated, I have no problem playing F-Am-G DDDD, but it falls apart when I add singing. Getting the emphasis notes down and correlating them to words may help.
E23E5|E23; Where E is the emphasis on the note and other notes are depressed. The | is for chord change...so the original 12345|123 is there but the 1st, 4th strum on one chord (F/Am) and the 1st strum on G chord is emphasized while all.others are sort of muted.

The strumming pattern taught for the intro is not the one used after you start singing. For a novice like me, I can't figure it out. It would be helpful if you explained what you are doing

During the verse you change the strumming pattern to sing along. Whats that pattern lol watched this over again to be sure i didnt miss anything but cant seem to catch on to this strum change when you start singin
He is not changing the pattern...but emphasising only some particular notes while depressing other notes... can't get the hang of it myself right now
1st and 4th strum on F and Am chords are emphasized. 1st strum on G chord also emphasized. All other strums are depressed/muted. But the pattern remains the same...12345|123
