    Get the Orbit DIY sprinkler system. It’s basically PEX and shark bite fittings. I did out 8k sf lot for under $500, including rental of a trencher. The system connects to your hose bib with a timer. Since it isn’t direct plumbed, you do not need a backflow preventer or annual testing.

    • @YardBrah
      @YardBrah  7 месяцев назад +2

      This is not the first time I've had an orbit DIY system comment... I should really try and do it this year ☺️🤙🏾

    • @tite732
      @tite732 7 месяцев назад

      No, just buy the 1 inch blu lock and get all of the couplers and elbows needed. I bought the orbit bundle 1/2 inch and regretted it. I have 1/2 lines underground with 1 inch lines that’s I upgraded above ground behind my shrubs. Whatever you do get 1 inch. I would also just get hunter manifold, backflow preventer, and a Rachio wifi controller.
      I saved a ton of money doing it myself but I could’ve saved a lot more knowing what I know now.

    I have a 20x20 patch of lawn in the backyard for kids to play on, It was a new lawn never there before and yard crafters did a really shitty job. I guess my question is, How to I make it flat and fill the patches for as little money as possible. I am not trying to have the best patch of grass I just want it usable. Thank you for any advice you can give brother.

    • @YardBrah
      @YardBrah  7 месяцев назад +5

      aerate, dethatch, sand and soil mixture 2 100 lbs bags of sand, 6 bags of soil, level it out, add seed rake it in, fertilize, water 3 times a day until it germinates continue daily water time after germination and there you go
      if that process is too much go with the poor mans overseed even cheaper add seed rake it in and water you can do everything else later... not as good but does the job if you already have a lawn in place ☺️🤙🏾

    So if you want to know if you have a leak. Make sure you have no running water in your house. Go out to the water meter and make sure it’s not counting. If it is then you have a leak. It’s very important to know where the meter and main valve is. Also a tool to turn off the water in the event of an emergency flood.

    When you put down pregerminated seeds with milorganite for lawn renovation, do you still add peat moss? And do you still put starter fertilizer?

    • @YardBrah
      @YardBrah  7 месяцев назад +2

      Peat moss is always optional but if you have birds they love BLACKOUT seed so I started applying it again... lost a ton of seed during my Reno last year I caught almost 100 birds one time just eating it all 😂
      no starter Fert until week 2 if you do milo and I never use starter Fert as a carrier seems like you would be putting too much down... it's hard to burn the lawn with milorganite... you would pretty much have to dump an entire bag in one spot to burn anything 😂🤙🏾

      Also I don't believe you putting in more phosphorus will actually 1:1 directly control more root growth per se, it needs enough to function, but there are certainly limites to how big the effects of applying are.

    Hey YardBrah - Appreciate all the content. Last I checked you were recommending TwinCity OBSIDIAN Perennial Ryegrass Blend and now it seems you like the Blackout. I'm here in the PNW as well and started a renovation by taking out my clay soil down to about 4-6 inches and bringing a 3 yards of 60/40 sand / compost mix leveled. I already the Twincity, but should I go with the Blackout now?

    • @YardBrah
      @YardBrah  7 месяцев назад +2

      I almost went with Obsidian but the "Tee-Me-Up" cultivar in there is a little disease prone... it also comes from a different research farm than Hattrick & Fireball if I'm not mistaken. buddy planted it and was not impressed. Blackout is straight fireball and hattrick only 2 cultivars...
      if you already planted it just make sure you stay on top of your disease control Azoxystrobin & Propiconazole ☺️🤙🏾

    Found your channel like last week and instantly hooked. Keep up the great content. I think in this video you used grass seed that was not pregerminated. If you were to pregerminate the KBG seed and used milorganite as the carrier. Then used peat moss to cover the area to increase success rate. Is that the step by step? Thank you again for everything you do

      I gave Rick some pre germinated seed the next day I pre germ 3 batches 1 for me, one for next door rick and one for CSM Rick ☺️🤙🏾

    We bought a house with geo zoysia sod a few years back. How would i go about thickening it? Since i dont believe you can buy see for the type of zoysia i have

    • @YardBrah
      @YardBrah  7 месяцев назад +1

      Unfortunately I believe you have to obtain more plugs, or you can just use a sod plugger take some of your grass and plug some bare spots... I have never worked with warm season grass but I used the plug method on my bent grass which has stolons and it worked ☺️🤙🏾

    I just over seeded on Sunday, but didn’t put a layer of peat moss down, is it too late to do that now? Loving the videos btw, fellow Washingtonian here in the Olympia area!

    • @YardBrah
      @YardBrah  7 месяцев назад +2

      Hey my dude... if the seed is still there and birds are not eating it you should be fine... but if you notice some missing you can put some... just be on and off the lawn quick sometimes ryegrass can germinate quick... but Washington had a freeze warning for our irrigation systems today so we couldn't water 😂 you should be fine if you want to add some peat moss ☺️🤙🏾

    So my lawn is cut about 1 3/4" ive been cutting every 3 days not strict. My lawn is thin trying to get itnto thicken up. Been using a spray 10/10/10 fert that recommends weekly spraying. The problem is, my grass barely growing. I know the fert is a weak fertilizer but i would assume it would be growing fast...its almost feels like im using PGR on the lawn at this rate...any suggestions?
