Wow! Your channel is a little gem in this RUclips desert! I found the one! Well, I sympathised with what he says in the section "Ask why" . Japanese are generally not used to ask why for anything. Having lived UK for nearly 20 years in the past, I always came across their conversation based on the other people's opinion and what others did or don't, but worrying thing is they don't know how to ask right question to build one's own opinion. Anyhow, I seems to build Japanese personality when I speak in Japanese, so I am managing life here. Though I need the channel like this to express my English speaking persona! Thank you!
If people start trying to speak English to me, I just say back in Japanese that I don't speak English and that usually works. Once they think English won't work anyway they don't have any guilt just speaking Japanese since it's easier.
I take a issue with the introduction. I don't think that Japanese don't think critically or don't have an open mind. I feel like they are afraid to say something in the wrong way or offend someone, that's why they are so timid. They behave the same way when speaking Japanese, in my experience.
I couldn't agree more. Timidness, is something I feel from their conversation, too. Polite is good, but sometimes, overly polite. They are so careful not to be rejected or to stand on other side of opinion from who is leading the conversation.
