I'll be honest, I only use Shogun as much as I do because of my EXTREME paranoia of Brainium Bashers. They are literally on par with Yeti Imps with how terrifying they can be. So to have a backup shield that says no to their nonsense is honestly quite comforting.
Thorn apart makes rose an actual good character
I personally like thorn apart, it makes rose a sad character but the upgrade is still very powerful

I think Shogun is fine, but it’s not really better than regular Corn imo
I feel like the idea of Shogun Guard was to be a more defensive Corn, but I would've doubled the shield HP and make it slightly bigger.
I like and use these upgrades more than steam blaster and brainium basher
