@@anurag6818 ya I know. But the majority of sundarban is in Bangladesh. Also the Bangladeshi part is beside sweet water while the Indian part is beside salt water. So, the Bangladeshi part is more beautiful to watch.
Also India made a huge fence around the jungle whereas the Bangladeshi part is still wild and worth adventuring.

Country on the other side is India not Myanmar. Also, the insurgency was fueled by govt of India right after 1971.
Most of hills are not open for even Bangladeshi citizens. Many lost their life here in hands of insurgents. Those who enter including Bangladeshi, are escorted by Army (not BGB)here.

Arshad bhai entry in ctg hill tracts are also restricted to Bangladeshis too.Visited Bandarban twice there was check point by army & they saw every one & checked every ones id card too.In interior with a tourist group we had just like immigration check point given photocopy of nid & the days we would be in resort.Four places Cantonment, BGB, police & upazila (sub district council office) , it was too tiring. For foreigners they need special permission from ctg divisional commissioner .The time you visited it was not open for Bangladeshi tourist too.

    • @19737009

If next time you want to visit Bandarban take permit from ctg divisional commisioner. Also there are some miscreants group so military very much aware of security of tourists & for the foreigners they are very much cautious about security. You see they are very much friendly too.
I think if any foreigners want to visit Waziristan or some places of KPK need special permission.

Hope you'll be back soon. Bangladesh isn't very touristy but good enough to have a relaxing break. For that you need to stay away from "popular" places. Come again, take some time to visit village area. You'll like it I think.
And unlike many other countries, countryside changes dramatically with seasons. Make sure you visit here during winter.
You missed sundarbans I guess. Next time before hiring a bike take a several day ship trip to sundarbans. Sundarbans is seasonally off limit and best time is winter. It is open all winter and temperature is tolerable. Else, you might face extremely hot and humid climate.

As a Bangladeshi, brother this is for your own good. Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachari, even though they are beautiful, they are also quite dangerous. It's for your own safety your access was denied. Also as far as I know, foreigners in general aren't allowed there without a government permit (which you can apply for easily). These are all for your safety since many terrorist groups, drug traffickers hide in the forests of Bandarban and the place is heavily militarised.

Believe many countries have such restricted areas due to various reasons, not necessarily only tribal conflicts. Bandarban, Rangamati & Khagrachari Districts commonly known as Chittagong Hill Tracts are such reserved areas from British era. Foreigners can visit these areas but prior permission to be obtained from respective District Administration. Come to Chittagong Hill Tracts and enjoy.

there has been some anti national groups named KNF , they are backed by the myanmar, uk supposedly india also who often tries to harm the tourists and the army to defame the government and hence even us Bangladeshis also need to move with cautious. for foreigners they need to book hotel and guide and take a permit before going into the zone. recently knf has started to operate frequently hence the bgb is much more cautious.

12 years ago, tribal people from India kidnaped two American tourists and demanded ransom. That's the reason tourist needs protection travelling there.

Bandarban is a heavily militarized area & is not suitable for foreigners. There are different separatist terrorist groups funded by India, that claim an Independent country in Bandarban. The military did what was good for you & also for them.

Its for safety, there are a dozen tribal terrorist groups there. They make tourists hostage. So the Army made a policy for visiting there, you have to abide by that to ensure your safety. The Army will even track you for safety.

3 districts are completely ruled by the army, due to which foreign tourists are not allowed to go there. However, tourists are allowed from anywhere in Bangladesh.

Even we Bangladeshi's need permission to visit some parts of those area, like Sajek. But that's on arrival permission. And in other parts, like the one you showed, we need to show national ID card to enter. That's a tribal area, and there's a on going conflict.
As you're a foreigner, if you face any issues there, that would be bad for the country's reputation. Maybe that's why you need permission as well as a local guide to visit that area. Not every part of that area can be visited by us the Bangaldeshi's too.

There is a big conflict going on between Myanmar Army and separatist group Arakan Army in Arakan (Rakhine state) which is very near to Bandarban district of Bangladesh , therefore , Army and BGB of Bangladesh taking extra meseaurments to ensure safety and security to the boarder people. So. Better, follow the rules and stay safe.
