Notice how the last line from Azumi is "Burn Your Dread"? I love that little nod of respect to the og op! I think a few shots in particular went on too long for how hard the song was going, but besides that nitpick, it's a great opening!
So far this is the most anime-ish opening of persona series. Even compared to P2 opening P3R is far more different than the rest. Other notable difference is in the direction of the opening which usually use more seamless transition but in this MV they use lot of rough cut (except in train scene) Edit: Oh well, I just saw someone mention this way before me...
1:34 Maybe they're actually gonna make Thanatos viable this time around? He _is_ kinda important to the story, after all (if in a thematic sense more than anything else).
This opening really gives me vibes of default anime opening mixed some scenes that remind me of Persona 2's opening and the end of P5R and Strikers. But it still keeps that overall style of P3 which is great.
the opening definitely is more blunt with what persona 3 is, characters that seem like ordinary high schoolers but they have more than meets the eye, the visuals can be gothic, they shoot themselves, and they fight! it's a solid opening for is essentially welcoming people back to playing persona 3 again (if they aren't the type to play the same game every few years XD)
P3 old OP was hella blunt too. The text about death was very on the nose and you see the cast shoot themselves as well. It does explore their individual lives more than the first did.

It feels like they threw P3’s original OP and the anime opening for the movies into a blender and popped this out. Theres certain shots I wish they did in a more unique way but other than that it’s my 2nd favorite P3 opening behind Burn my Dread.

@@michaelrobosa146 It’s a remake, of the least popular game in the modern series, they already added a ton of stuff in this game, and they have way more projects in the pipeline to put more content out in a year for this. I’m confident that what we’re getting here is the entire P3 remake project. Would make no sense to put out some nonsense definitive release. People don’t think when they say things like this.
There is something off about this song....the Game Awards Trailer was better...to this this is the song....i think the music team added the wrong track...they need the real song....they made an upload error.
No i don’t think they did. Persona 3 portable is the exact same in that it’s in game open sounds more tame and hallow compared to the version that was officially released on the game’s OST. I think it’s the same for this song, that’s probably just how the song sounds in the actual opening, we won’t know how the song is truly supposed to sound until the full album version drops.

The Guitar singing was enough...another example that the marketing team or sound people got me to enjoy and prefer a trailer song for the game version what the product ended up being. I mean, cool...they enchanced for a moment something from the game...but...at least include the song...

Just asking to be sure, do you know that the GTA trailer has Japanese version of it? Because for some reason, the jp and eng version of the Meaning Of Life trailer use different verse from Full Moon Full Life. This opening played the verse used in JP version btw. Perhaps thats why you feel its different? 👀
The rap part is definitely different. Which is unfortunate since that was my favorite part of the trailer but it's probably just a different verse found in the full song which I'll be happy about.
