I think you forgot to mention how the Ajax academy has not been producing nearly as many high quality talents as years past. Jorrel Hato looks like he can be solid, but the team has had multiple promising prospects end up being dissapointments. Kenneth Taylor was supposed to help ease the blow of losing De Jong and VDB yet he has been mediocre, Ajax has struggled to replace Antony despite having talents like Naci Unuvar that were supposed to be able to step up. Quinten Timber (Jurrien Timber's brother) was allowed to leave and is now a key player for rivals Feyenoord.

True, but I think that is also because of the different direction Overmars took when getting rid of the salary cap and focusing on winning and competing on a European level. They bought older and more experienced players and obviously less game time and trust was given to the youngsters, hence why some left.

@@themondayleague that explains the Quinten Timber situation but it doesn't explain why high-profile talents have struggled when given opportunities in the first team

@@symptomofsouls It can be hard to perform for youngsters if they are not given the trust. So I think it partly explains why some may have struggled with the transition and when given the opportunities. In the end young talents need time and trust to develop themselves. But another part could be the coaching staff, we've seen a lot of criticism lately on the way Brobbey has been coached and the fact no one has seemed to work with him on his finishing. But as outsiders, we'll never know the full truth to this.

I think Ajax should start keeping their players. If we kept the players like de jong or de ligt maybe we could have been champions league contenders

They can't afford the wages they're worth though in the current market and it would be bad to hold them back from playing for the biggest clubs in the world imo

1:02 that is incorrect Ajax has only won the Eredivisie 3 times since 2014. In 2019, 2021 and 2022 and only in 2021 they were much stronger than the rest when they became champions with a lead of 16 points because in the other two years the lead was only 3 and 2 points, in fact in 2015 ajax finished 17 points behind PSV and last year 13 points behind Feyenoord, so Ajax was don't unbeatable except for 2021

Fair point. They also won in 2013 and 2014, so technically they still won the league 5 out of 9 times (because there was no champion during COVID). But there indeed was the four-year period where PSV won 3 titles and Feyenoord 1, so you're correct there, my bad. I should have clarified that, so thank you for doing so.
