This is very hard for me to say because I have bled Steelers Back and Gold for over 40 years. I’m 75 years old and have been locked on the Steelers since the Bradshaw days and the 4 SB wins in 6 years. They were the first team to win 6 SB rings, however it was a long 26 year drought between 4 and 5. The culture of winning and the legacy passed on was legendary. But alas, that is no longer the case with the organization of today. Where winning was everything in Pittsburgh, now that culture has been replaced by a “no losing season” mindset. Everyone is mediocre and everyone gets a “participation trophy” I lay the blame squarely on the shoulders of the Rooney family. Since they don’t seem to care about winning for the City of Pittsburgh and the worldwide family of the faithful, they have kept Mike Tomlin around way longer than they ever should have. I know “The Rooney Rule” that they created, and they have let the team sink to the lowest productivity in decades. Don’t go calling me racist, just a realist. They have kept No Losing Season Tomlin, and have allowed him to keep the totally useless OC Matt Canada! I really had hope in Omar Khan, but I guess the decisions come from the home office down. Kenny Pickett will never be anything but “average” in this offense. Just look at what a young QB can be with Brock Purdy in SF! That modern west coast offense is successful everywhere it is used, but we are stuck in Tomlin’s defense oriented offense which is never going to work in the 21st century NFL. I really hurt for all the amazing talent on this team that is being wasted. Our Steelers will never win another ring until sanity and the real reason the team exists is reinstated.
Here's the problem though, you go out and get a free agent quarterback like Kirk cousins who will cost you $50 million a season and now you got to cut five starters across your roster to get him under the cap. This is why your roster so strong everywhere else as you've got no money allocated to the most important position on the team, the quarterback allowing you to strengthen the rest of the team with all that extra savings. The problem is like you know the quarterback stings. So it's take a veteran proven quarterback minus five of your starters and those are decent starters too starters at average probably about 8 million each so it's five of your 10 best players
This may come across as being harsh, and I mean no offense, but he's starting to make me think of him as Marvin Lewis when he was in Cinnci. Wins just enough to make the playoffs, at least nowadays.
Purdy vs Jalen as a QB: Purdy: Comp %-70.2 Yards- 2,662 YPA- 9.7 TDs- 18 INTs- 5 Jalen: Comp %- 68.5 Yards- 2,497 YPA-7.6 TD- 15 INT- 10 Don’t want to hear how Purdy has “all star weapons”. Jalen has a better O-line, better WRs, a solid TE, and a very good RB. I think Jalen is great, but why is Purdy not a candidate for MVP if Jalen is a front runner?
I hear that every year and then you guys lose in the NFC championship. I'm not hating I like you guys more than most the other teams in the NFC. If it ain't my lions I hope you guys go all the way
Rich, you're right. However, Belicheck would trade his own mother at halftime. The only reason it wouldn't be done is because of respect, which Belicheck wouldn't care about if he was making the move.
The issue isn't that though it's the 30 million a year or so they're going to save which is basically four starting players by not hooking fields up to a veteran contract when his contract expires in 2 years. You may never be this close again to getting another chance at a rookie quarterback with a rookie contract. Bears roster isn't that bad cuz of that reason right now They have so much extra money cuz of the savings they get at quarterback. That's where it's important
Why would Hurts automatically be an MVP candidate ahead of Purdy? He has been underwhelming this year and Purdy has played objectively better. Now... If you're saying this is a subjective award then whatever.
As a Lions fan, i hope Chicago takes Caleb Williams. That kid is irreversibly soft mentally. All talent, no maturity. Cam Newton 2.0. Fields has a high ceiling.
As a Michigan alumni for the past 50 years. I agree, Jim Harbaugh was suspended twice this year and now the firing LB coach represents lack of organizational control. NCAA is not done with punishment of my Wolverines Jim Harbaugh should be fired or he needs to resign As always, Go Blue
Not a fan or a hater but always despised OSU so I prefered to see Michigan win. I would rather not win then have someone such as JH in charge and that in includes the NFL . But then again based on your first sentence it would appear we are in the same age range and as is evident in sports, government , and business things such as etiics and integrity are now considered flaws.
That Rodgers take is pure hindsight bias/results oriented thinking/whatever you wanna call it. If you envisioned Rodgers being out for the season before the first drive ended, you’d accept the risk and your fate, and the deal was short term in the same way Stafford’s was: You elevate your offense for the duration of the contract and cross your fingers it gets you a ring, which is not a bad move especially when you’re getting Rodgers *over* Stafford. Pure bad luck, and as a Browns fan, I empathize.
I thought the Fields take was unreasonable but I was talked off that cliff lol I still think you stick with Fields unless the trade offers on the pick isn’t good. I think if the offer is only one more first rounder more than Fields, a trade for Fields becomes appealing. My own spice here is the Steelers make an offer for Fields, flipping Pickett, a first (in addition to trading down) and second so Bears can get their QB and keep building with insurance.
A reminder that Brock drove the 49ers in position to win the first game of that 3 game losing streak but the kicker missed a 41 yd field goal he has done it
The only way I see him not going as the first pick... Is if the bears go on a tear and he looks super good then they use the number one pick on Marvin Harrison Jr. To the bears
How do people feel about Cleveland if Baker were still the QB? Cleveland could be a 12 win team with Baker, and there would be more confidence in their offense to perform in the playoffs.
You're not getting a 1 plus multiple other picks for Fields. Maybe a 1 or multiple 2's, 3's,+. But you're not getting a one and additional early round picks for him. He's not worth mortgaging a franchise's future over-especially when the team who just drafted him is already potentially willing to draft someone to replace him.
Do they even watch the games? At least one of Stroud's picks was on Robert Woods coughing up a ball that hit him in both hands. There is a difference between bad throw/poor judgement picks and bad luck picks. I'm not a Texans fan, but Stroud is rookie of the year.
Actually, if it gets them multiple Super Bowl wins, it WOULD be more important than any of their previous meetings - but probably not if they take Caleb Williams. :P

Everyone is mediocre and everyone gets a “participation trophy”
I lay the blame squarely on the shoulders of the Rooney family. Since they don’t seem to care about winning for the City of Pittsburgh and the worldwide family of the faithful,
they have kept Mike Tomlin around way longer than they ever should have.
Rich, please bring Dan Soder back on when the playoffs come around to talk Niners.
Purdy vs Jalen as a QB:
Purdy:
Comp %-70.2
Yards- 2,662
YPA- 9.7
TDs- 18
INTs- 5
Jalen:
Comp %- 68.5
Yards- 2,497
YPA-7.6
TD- 15
INT- 10
Don’t want to hear how Purdy has “all star weapons”.
Jalen has a better O-line, better WRs, a solid TE, and a very good RB.
I think Jalen is great, but why is Purdy not a candidate for MVP if Jalen is a front runner?
It’s the 49ers world and you’re all just living in it.
Bang Bang Niner Gang!!
See you at the top!
Oh ya!!
Bucs fan here, yep its yalls time enjoy!
I hear that every year and then you guys lose in the NFC championship. I'm not hating I like you guys more than most the other teams in the NFC. If it ain't my lions I hope you guys go all the way
@@jimbobcooter9874 you’ll be hearing it for a while, Niners ain’t going nowhere!
HOw is Hurts an MVP candidate? So just being the QB on the NFLs best team makes you an MVP?
Rich, you're right. However, Belicheck would trade his own mother at halftime. The only reason it wouldn't be done is because of respect, which Belicheck wouldn't care about if he was making the move.
Belichick would axe Bienemy for his choice at OC, and speaking as a Diehard Fan of The Formerly Known As, that would NOT be acceptable.
There is no guarantee Williams will be any better than Fields.
True but there’s also no guarantee that Fields gets any better than he has been.
Fire Brandon Staley and put the special teams coach into the interim head coach position.
Caleb Williams is over hyped.
why didn't they once talk about his actual play?
The last overreaction 😂
The Joshua Dobbs story was good while it lasted.
Why would Hurts automatically be an MVP candidate ahead of Purdy? He has been underwhelming this year and Purdy has played objectively better. Now... If you're saying this is a subjective award then whatever.
Purdy led a de facto game-winning drive in Cleveland, but Moody missed the kick. And Minnesota and Cincinnati were more about the defense struggling.
As a Lions fan, i hope Chicago takes Caleb Williams. That kid is irreversibly soft mentally. All talent, no maturity. Cam Newton 2.0. Fields has a high ceiling.
Rich... Come on man!!!
Justin Fields is absooutely a high caliber starting QB, and Caleb Williams is unproved. Fields is not the problem.
As a Michigan alumni for the past 50 years.
I agree, Jim Harbaugh was suspended twice this year and now the firing LB coach represents lack of organizational control.
NCAA is not done with punishment of my Wolverines
Jim Harbaugh should be fired or he needs to resign
As always, Go Blue
Not a fan or a hater but always despised OSU so I prefered to see Michigan win. I would rather not win then have someone such as JH in charge and that in includes the NFL . But then again based on your first sentence it would appear we are in the same age range and as is evident in sports, government , and business things such as etiics and integrity are now considered flaws.
He did do the comeback drive in Cleveland but the rookie kicker missed it so you've seen it but don't want to remember it.
Where is the normal Overreaction Monday segment? I don't need a 30 minute version of what is a perfectly good short segment on the show.
Imagine how many Superbowls the 49ers would have had in the last 4 years if they signed Tom Brady instead of rolling with the qbs they had
Shanahan wouldn't allow it. The QB has to be a nobody so when they win everyone calls him a genius
IF if's and buts were candies and nuts what a fine Christmas we'd have. Dandy Don Meredith 20th Century announcer. Oh yeah.
Well here's a question...Why are the Chargers supposed to be good?
They should DEFINITELY move Kellen Moore to head coach (and 3rd-string quarterback) and find someone to fix the defense.
@Sophinia-tz6rf not sure what that has to do with Kellen Moore.....
Watching this the next day. Tomlin will indeed make the move on Canada in the middle of the season
I’m calling it now: Chiefs v Broncos AFC Championship Game.
Miles Garrett not being in the MVP convo is criminal. And i don't even like Cleveland.
I’ve heard some fans bad mouth Deboe S. but the losing streak the 49s went through was when he was injured the offense seems to click with him there
wonder who the steelers and browns might go to for QB in the draft this year
That Rodgers take is pure hindsight bias/results oriented thinking/whatever you wanna call it.
I thought the Fields take was unreasonable but I was talked off that cliff lol
I still think you stick with Fields unless the trade offers on the pick isn’t good.
I love Rich, but Charges need a change. I’m a Niners fan and love Purdy, but think he needs more to even be considered for MVP.
Mini-Me has his moments.
I’m surprised at how much of a fan Rich is of the Phins if he’s a Jets fan
How do people feel about Cleveland if Baker were still the QB? Cleveland could be a 12 win team with Baker, and there would be more confidence in their offense to perform in the playoffs.
Rich talks about saquon like he ain’t missed 40% of his games
Calling it now, Giants 10 - Patriots 10
you give both teams offense too much credit
You're not getting a 1 plus multiple other picks for Fields. Maybe a 1 or multiple 2's, 3's,+. But you're not getting a one and additional early round picks for him. He's not worth mortgaging a franchise's future over-especially when the team who just drafted him is already potentially willing to draft someone to replace him.
Jacksonville can win in Houston but Denver can’t 😂 💯 overreaction
if Caleb Williams ended up in NY, I would feel sad for him XD
Do they even watch the games? At least one of Stroud's picks was on Robert Woods coughing up a ball that hit him in both hands. There is a difference between bad throw/poor judgement picks and bad luck picks. I'm not a Texans fan, but Stroud is rookie of the year.
Why is Mahomes like a default choice for MVP. He’s had a mediocre year a log with Hurts.
Goff s been to a superbowl he’s 1 of the most underrated QBs in league
I also respect the Giants-Patriots game being the most important... So crazy but also could turn out to be so very important.
What the Bears do will totally depend on who they hire as a new head coach
Brockman still says to himself, we pats still have six sbs.
The real culprit with the commanders is the GM! Let's be honest here
Actually, if it gets them multiple Super Bowl wins, it WOULD be more important than any of their previous meetings - but probably not if they take Caleb Williams. :P
@Sophinia-tz6rf not sure what that has to do with Caleb Williams or anything else being discussed.....
My underreaction is the Seahawks will miss the playoffs yet nothing will be done to the coach who should have been fired this morning.
Signing Rodgers with all his “people” was a mistake!
