I think they were talking about this novel.

Ohh fancy intro! Ah same structure as The Secret History. A why-done-it rather than who-done-it, basically. Sounds great.

It really is great. Easy to read, plain, restrained prose, a moderately simple story with a lot of interesting characters. I'm really happy I searched this one out.
(I like to have fun with the intros, even though it's more work, it feels fun.)

I had the same problem keeping the 2 men and their wives straight. I'm so glad I'm not alone in that!

I thought I was doing a good job keeping everyone straight, but I still got confused towards the end. It's OK, it is so short and fun to read I won't mind reading it again to see if I can really figure out what is happening.

I would really recommend it. The writing is plain and unaffected, but moving. The simple story is fairly easy to follow, but there seem to be a lot of little detours along the way that make it seem a bit harder than it actually is.

Maxwell is truly an artist. I read this book in 2020 and your review reminds me to read more of him. I have Time Will Darken It on my shelf and I must get to it. I also would like to re-read So Long….Thank you, Grant! I hope Uni is going well for you.

Hello Nikki! I'm always happy to hear from you. It is a funny kind of tragedy to not only have so many books to read, but also knowing that so many of the great books and authors from the past also need to be re-read and re-appreciated. I can't express how happy I was to re-read 'Of Human Bondage' and 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' this year.
I only discovered Maxwell through one of my big lists of books, and many people have told me his other work is amazing as well. I'll be on the lookout for more the next time I go to the bookstore. (Although I'm going to try to get more books from the library this year, my bookcase is getting unmanageable.)

@@grantlovesbooks exactly right! So much to read and re-read but so little time. I hope you are well and I’m so behind on your videos so I’ll be catching up!

@@nikkivenable3700 Everything is good with me Nikki! I have two exams next week, nothing to worry about. My final essays are finished, I will have a month off before the next semester begins. Life is a bowl of cherries, with lots of snow here!
I'm also quite behind in making the new videos. I'll be working on that this weekend!
