The sellers don’t tell you what they originally paid for the vintage furnishings and you can see by their expressions at the appraisal and later at auction that their purses took a hit. Not to mention the storage costs on top. The best part is having enjoyed the screen, tray, toy, record at some point in the distant past.
Oh, I couldn't get rid of my vinyl albums. Many, many obscure folk albums by folk singers and groups who mostly never had albums released on Cd's.
American, British, Irish folk artists from the 1960's and 1970's who were mostly unknown by most people unless they were folk music fanantics.
Hundreds and hundreds of albums and I'm still into folk/acoustic music.
Things that are interesting to you and that you like are good for your soul. Keep the book on windmills!!!!

It surprises me that the storage facilities are happy to have a show come in and reduce their income. I wonder how much they are paid in compensation. Hmmm?
Since England is such a small area, with small houses. They probably have people wanting storage space all the time.
There's a never-ending supply of idiots who are happy to waste their money to store mostly useless garbage.

Clever to have taken furniture with her from large house but it comes down to sell what you can’t fit in your new house doesn’t add up to pay storage fees after you have moved into yr new house
The kids don’t want your stuff then sell it
There’s always the rates insurance and cost of living to deal with

I tihnk they said the irish lady was called Smurfit in which case may be part of the big Irish family of that name and consistent with her having lived in huge country houses - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Smurfit
She very long ago divorced Michael Smurfit's brother so I don't know why you think she is still part of the Smurfit family.
Who else is here for motivation to clear their storage unit? We got one "temporarily" when I moved in with my husband after we got got married (in 2016).
They should’ve bought 2 trailers and saved on storage costs!
They shouldn't have stored all that stuff in the first instance!
The trouble with the UK is we just don't have space for trailers as a lot of people live in small flats or hosues with gardens or driving and no residents' parking in the street.

The shows are fun to watch. However, in this case - mildly affluent Tim, obviously wealthy Caroline - the sums realized are minor. This raises the question: why not just give it all away?
Yes, watching this series confirms that my giving it away has been wise - eg I had custume jewellery and gave 100% of it away to a charity shop recently which took me about 10 minutes of my time. Had I sold it for £20 that would have cost more in terms of my time than the £20 earned.

Hard to keep track of with the hopping back and forth. They certainly didn't get top dollar for their items. Not a fan of this show,as it's not representative of what normal people would have in their storage lockers.

The law is sexually neutral in England. My lower earner husband got more than 50% as I earn a lot more.
Ex-husband Dermot, who's a multi-millionaire/billionaire with one home in Dublin and his villa in Cannes, got "nothing"? If millions/billions, and at least two homes/villas is _nothing_ to you then you must be unimaginably wealthy yourself, which is odd given how poorly you write.
Apologies for the very late response (!) but the Smurfit family are extremely wealthy and it’s not of surprise that this lady did ok in a divorce, the Smurfits are billionaires.
