  • Exercise selection for Patellofemoral Pain (PFP) can make a big difference. The right approach can reduce pain, improve strength and restore function but how do we create that approach?
In our video below I talk about identifying patient’s needs, common areas to focus on, whether VMO is still a thing and how to modify exercises to reduce painful loading. There’s also so clips of me demonstrating my top exercises I use regularly in clinic. Enjoy!

Thanks, Tom! Very helpful. I'm curious whether you've ever had a patient with PFP that experiences chronic pain at rest. I have a patient that has anterior knee pain associated with activities that load the knee (running and cycling in particular), yet also a constant pain at rest. Is there a differential diagnosis I should be chasing? It has complicated rehab as his pain isn't settling and I'm unsure how much to push him.

Im the same. Did you find anything out? The pain at rest just started … a few months after my PFP was diagnosed.

This patient's infrapatellar fat pad was inflamed, which I believe is what was causing his chronic pain even at rest. This was an unusual case, and may not be what you're experiencing.
