    Agassi used to play the kind of passing shots we take for granted now, but he did it before synthetic strings like Luxilon made it so much easier to impart topspin to the ball. He could hit the ball earlier than almost every other player on tour, on the rise, and with power and accuracy. When he first arrived on the tour, I had never seen anything like his shotmaking ability. Still my favourite player of all time.

    Andre is the gateway to the GOATs.
    Go look at tennis mechanics before and after him.
    He invented the language of modern tennis. People talk about Nadal’s forehand, Djokovic’s backhand, Murray’s lob.
    These three made these shots their own, but they were all originally dreamed up by Agassi.

      @@daleproctor3723 it's because it was/is a process.
      U can see that his matches before doing that prbably when he had long hairs he was so emotional or aggressive u say.
      But then he decided to change it .
      If camera locked on him and there is no score board on our screen we can't understand that he get that point or lost it by his face reaction and body launguage .
      When he win or lose that point he used to looked down and walked on base line. He didn't wanted himself to get disturb by looking anyone then he gets his stance, do a little pinch squat then watched his opponents over the net.
      He used to do that around 200 times in a single match .
      That fine thing teaches us lot things .
      After all tennis is not a teamsport u don't have anyone to talk to u on field, so players used to take services from psyachattic ( I spelled that wrong😅). So they come up with this kind of strange things . It good that we kind of people noticed .👍

    What a career Agassi had! To come back from a drug related drop in rankings to about 200 in the world, to fight his own demons and become a better person and player than ever is an outstanding story. From 1998 on Agassi played every single match with an intensity as if it was the last of his career. I could name a few pros out there which should take Agassi as an example.

      @AntonyJohn71 3 года назад +8

      There was another motivator for him. As a child star he hated Tennis. His father was the guy who pushed him to make his career in Tennis. After the drop in ranks and problems partly caused by his catharitic relationship with his father. Hatred for what tennis costed him in personal life he wanted to walk away. He got his mojo when he connected with the really unfortunate children and saw that he has a better cause to be in Tennis for. He realized the potential of what Tennis really gave him, and came back with a new mission into the game. The rest is history...

    What he achieved is unmatchable, the Big 3 can't hold a candle to him for that matter.
    Winning Wimbledon from the baseline and making it to another final as well (THAT Wimbledon, not the green clay of today), and winning all 4 Grand Slams as well in his time, makes him one of the greatest ever.
    He and Borg winning RG-Wimbledon back-to-back three times (6 and 5 respectively in total), are on top of everyone.
