Istanbul: 7.8 Earthquake Simulation in Real Time

Here's a hypothetical scenario of a M7.8 earthquake on the middle strand of the North Anatolian Fault. The shaking levels represent the Mercalli Intensity Scale.

These simulations along with my piano music (Spotify/RUclips: @pardonmypiano ) are part of my lifelong project called "In Terra Pax" that aims to bring financial and emotional support to victims affected by earthquakes around the world.

I hope that my simulations will educate the general public about potential earthquake related hazards and create more curiosity about Earth Science in general. I do also hope that my videos will inspire a future generation of amazing architects, engineers and scientists! We all need to peacefully work together to make this world a better place. :)

Living in active tectonic plates is just so dang scary. I live in one of the most dangerous active plates in the world, the Philippine plate that's crushing into the Eurasian plate and I live right on top of that plate in the Philippines. We actually have hundreds of earthquakes every year here amassing from magnitude 2 to 5. And some with magnitude 6 to 8.

Australia isn’t immune from earthquakes, there are minor fault lines running across Western Australia, that’s what caused the 6.9 magnitude Meckering earthquake in 1968 that shook for about 40 seconds and heaved the ground upwards 2.4m and caused a horizontal movement of 1.5m. 59 buildings were destroyed or severely damaged, luckily there were no deaths. Witnesses reported an initial strong vertical blow, followed by two episodes of east-west shaking, all accompanied by an explosive or thundering noise.

If such an earthquake were to occur, according to scientists, a 10-meter tsunami would hit the coast.

If it’s a simulation about the next earthquake to strike Istanbul, it’s wrong. There is no fault going through Istanbul up to the north. The fault line is paralel to Istanbul shores 15km to the south and the epicenter is believed to occur around west Istanbul, not east. The magnitude will be around 7.0.

Can you do a scenario for a large magnitude Intraplate earthquake occurring in Oklahoma off the Meers fault which produced a magnitude 7 earthquake about 1,200 years ago
And also do a scenario for a magnitude 9 earthquake off the Hellenic trench and a magnitude 9 earthquake off the Caribbean from either the Puerto Rico Trench or the Lesser Antilles Subduction zone ?

I live in the earthquake zone of Turkey. Earthquake is a natural disaster. This is very normal. If a big earthquake happens in the middle of your sleep, you cannot understand what happened and even you cannot understand that you are dead. But if you are awake, you need to know what to do in the event of an earthquake. It is not earthquakes that kill buildings, but buildings...

In philippines especially mindanao im from mindanao and last year I was experience a M6.8 and its epicenter is right below my city the city of general santos city and also week later a M7.4 hit the davao and I was at my home sleeping when earthquake struck so please make a video about it

im sorry to say but there is no fault in istanbul's itself and şile (there is fault in marmara sea) also düzce fault cant cause a rupture for 10-30 years because its aldready ruptured 2 times in 1999 also istanbul earthquake is expected at marmara sea
