Which is weird, right?! It’s got flatwound strings and a foam mute at the bridge to kill the sustain…which my brain tells me wouldn’t be as god for drive pedals as my other basses, but it just seems to work! Not bad for the cheapest bass I own.
Nice review! This pedal popped up a few weeks ago just as I was deep diving (again) into bass fuzz looking hard for the elusive Bluebeard and I jumped on it immediately. I think it’s a fantastic fuzz! I found that once I have a setting I like with the muff controls I can just roll the BB/LA control to roll off fizz and bring in mids and punch. Lastly, it’s really easy to spend $200-300 on a boutique fuzz so IMO it’s worth noting the price of this pedal is extremely reasonable at $119. Killer deal! I was eying the Ballbuster OD already, look forward to your review. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Yeah i think the BB/LA knob is what makes it for me. As i mentioned in the vid, it kinda sounds like a variable version of the tone bypass swich on the Bluebeard, but the tone control still works!
@@TheoAndHisPedals I agree. I read you’ve used it with a crossover, something I’ve considered for my dirt. Which one do you use and what freq do you set it?
I use a Byte Heaven Singlecross to split the signal at a set crossover point and then I use a JHS Summing Amp to blend the channels together at the end of the chain. The Singlecross doesn’t say precisely where it’s splitting on the pedal itself, more that it can go between 80hz and 1k I think
I'm going to give it a real go with one of the bands i think. I dont think it has any less low end that the Sovtek Big Muffs...but then again i like the muffs more at home than i do in rehearsal. I did do a gig with it the other week but my pedalboard uses a crossover so only the highs were going to the Azul anyway, it sounded great but not a fair representation of what the Azul sounds like on its own in a band mix.
@@TheoAndHisPedals yeah you can only really tell alongside drums at a realistic volume. This just didn't grab me at first sight like that red supermuff you had (memory fails me but it was a red muff that really stood out). Sorry. Many years ago I spent 2k on a custom bass from a UK builder - I still prefer the mij p bass I asked them to copy lol.
Another video where your violin bass steals the show. That bass is really great with effects.

Oh shit! Rad!

Cheers makes sense. That one is on my radar as is the Tyler.
Was curious about that one and what do you know? You made a review! Thanks. Sounds great with the violin bass.
Thank you, I’m honestly a big fan of that violin bass and how it not only makes me play differently, but also use pedals differently
No, you still need the subs i reckon for it to go on a pedalboard - stacking etc.
Liked the Musicmaster!

For the longest time I had an ‘86 MIJ P…I still regret letting it go
