Hey Brendon: A couple of related faves from this year. David Bowie The Rise And Fall of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars and Mott The Hoople All The Young Dudes. Rock on! - Heather
What a great bunch of albums for this 1972 fave albums video. Machine Head and Close to the edge are two legendary albums, both are amazing . I enjoyed watching this video very much , but now its time to listen to songs from these chosen albums .. . Big like !
My top 6 in no particular order Deep Purple - Machine Head Uriah Heep - Demons and Wizards Gentle Giant - Octopus The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main Street Black Sabbath - Vol 4 Yes - Close to the Edge If I had to choose a favourite it would probably be Sabbath - Vol 4
Really dig these year reviews, Brendon and your choices all are killer. Imo, Steely Dan-Can't Buy a Thrill is hard to beat, nosing out Ziggy Stardust. 💯
If you aren't familiar with 1972's 'Tim Buckley - Greetings From LA' please check it out and get a copy. Its gotta be up there with one of the best from that year!
This year was pretty easy for me to pick. Although the first album that came to mind was Smokin by Humble Pie, but then I quickly realized what my favorite album of the year is Exile on Main st - The Rolling Stones
I usually have an album that comes to mind pretty quickly too. But then my mind floods in a bunch more and then it’s the problem of choosing from all the great albums! Haha
Here's my list 1. Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick 2. Yes - Close to the Edge 3. Genesis - Foxtrot 4. Emerson Lake & Palmer - Trilogy 5. Alice Cooper - School's Out 6. Blue Oyster Cult - Blue Oyster Cult 7. Roxy Music - Roxy Music 8. Weather Report - I Sing the Body Electric 9. Herbie Hancock - Crossings 10. Gentle Giant - Octopus
My runners' up: 6. Poco - A good Feeling To Know 5. Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick 4. Lindisfarne - Dingley Dell 3. Al Stewart - Orange 2. REO Speedwagon - REO/TWO My winner: 1. Steeleye Span - Below The Salt
I don't think there's the depth of releases there was in 1971. I'm going to follow your rules and since I named Sticky Fingers as my #1 for 71 I'm going to go with Ziggy Stardust for 72. I think it's the pinnacle of his career and is an album that sounds as good now as it did the first time I heard it. There's not a weak track on it. Honorable mentions would go to Vol. 4 (not my favorite Sabbath album), Harvest ( not my favorite Neil Young), Thick As A Brick (not my favorite Jethro Tull album), School's Out (again, not my favorite Alice Cooper). Where it became tough was not picking Machine Head, Wishbone Ash "Argus", or Uriah Heep "Demons & Wizards" because those are also my favorites from those artists but I have to go with Bowie. This is fun Brendan.
Getting real close to the yes album got it preordered picked up two Elvis Costello a mccartney ageorgx Harrison the eagles and the great band to me thee fixx thanks Brendon rock on
That’s so true! I think because there is always one key member of either Steve Howe or Jon Anderson in all the line-ups. For me they are the ones that make the band sound like Yes.
1972 is one of my very favorite years in music. Few other years feature so many albums that, for me, could all be number 1 on any given day. Today however, my top 10 goes as follows: 1.) Genesis- Foxtrot 2.) David Bowie- Ziggy Stardust 3.) Yes- Close to the Edge 4.) Deep Purple- Machine Head 5.) Stevie Wonder- Talking Book 6.) Frank Zappa- The Grand Wazoo 7.) Neil Young- Harvest 8.) Fela Kuti- Roforofo Fight 9.) Black Sabbath- Vol. 4 10.) Joni Mitchell- For the Roses
1 - Frank Zappa - The Grand Wazoo 2 - Deep Purple - Machine Head 3 - Uriah Heep - Demons & Wizards 4 - ZZ Top - Rio Grande Mud 5 - Black Sabbath - Volume 4 6 - Allman Bros Band - Eat A Peach 7 - Steely Dan - Cant Buy A Thrill 8 - Jerry Lee Lewis - London Sessions 9 - Jethro Tull - Thick as A Brick 10 - Cyamonde S/T Should I Do A Top 20 ?????
Close To The Edge - Yes Crosby & Nash - David Crosby and Graham Nash Harvest - Neil Young Deep Purple - Machine Head Obscured By Clouds - Pink Floyd Volume 4 - Black Sabbath Last Autumn's Dream - Jade Warrior The World Is A Ghetto - War Can't Buy A Thrill - Steely Dan Seventh Sojourn - The Moody Blues Caravanserai - Santana
This is much easier than 1971! Here is my top5: Pink Floyd - Obscured by Clouds Can - Ege Bamyasi Neil Young- Harvest Miles Davis - On the Corner Babe Ruth - First Base
@@BrendonSnyder ive seen a couple of your reviews of more classic rock but Id really like to hear your opinion on new grunge? I could recommend you some stuff. Especially The violet stones - PIN or Reduce - Dinky.
@@BrendonSnyder (The only reason I included those is because I was saying that Exile was in my top 3 all time, so I elaborated outside of the year to answer those who might ask what the other 2 all time top 3 were.)

I almost included that great album by Lou Reed.
Really dig these year reviews, Brendon and your choices all are killer. Imo, Steely Dan-Can't Buy a Thrill is hard to beat, nosing out Ziggy Stardust.
💯
That’s my favorite Steely Dan album too!

I agree, Bowie’s Ziggy is probably his pinnacle album. But he’s done so many good ones over the years.

I’m counting down the days! The new Yes album can’t come quick enough!
@@BrendonSnyder I'm anxious what I've heard I love
Those are great choices! I also liked Thick As A Brick by Jethro Tull and the Eagles debut album.
Those are both great albums too!
My favorites are Deep Purple Machine Head, Black Sabbath vol. 4, and Neil Young Harvest.
I love all 3 of those as well.

Yeah it was a close one for me too because there were so many good albums that year.
My fav .
Budgie . Squawk
RU Wishbone Ash. Argus
HM Black Sabbath vol4.
Budgie is a great band.
Major nostalgia. CTTE changed my life and it still doesn't sound dated at all.
For me Yes is one of those bands that no one sounds like and all of their albums sound as fresh today as they did when released.
@@BrendonSnyder it seems like whoever was in it it was always, somehow, Yes.

Those early years in the 70’s produced some really amazing classic albums.
I Like your Style Alec
This year is also a tough one Brendon, i might be between Deep Purple and Uriah Heep.... cheers and be well

My Choise: Yes "Close To The Edge"

Those would be my top two picks as well 👍🏻
Close To The Edge - Yes

Obscured By Clouds - Pink Floyd
Volume 4 - Black Sabbath
Last Autumn's Dream - Jade Warrior
The World Is A Ghetto - War
Can't Buy A Thrill - Steely Dan
Seventh Sojourn - The Moody Blues
Caravanserai - Santana
Rolling Stones - Exile On Main Street
My favorite Stones album narrowly over Beggars Banquet. Runner up would be Bowie.
I’d go with Exile over Beggars too.
It really BURNS me up but I need to save my Deep Purple pick for another year and go for Close to the Edge by- Yes
Are you saving it for Burn or Come Taste The Band?
@@BrendonSnyder Time will tell my friend. lol 😂 Cheers
1. Close To The Edge 2. Trilogy 3. Machine Head 4. Foxtrot 5. Octopus 6. Argus 7. Black Sabbath 4 8. ThicK As A Brick
Black sabbath vol 4. Supernaut is probably my favorite sabbath song.
Nice list, own all mentioned apart from the japanese import of closer, i would pick 'Can't Buy a Thrill' by Steely Dan as my personal pick.
That’s my favorite Steely Dan album!
Any year that sabbath put out an album, that would be my favorite.
They have a lot of great albums in their collection.
This is much easier than 1971! Here is my top5:
Pink Floyd - Obscured by Clouds
Can - Ege Bamyasi
Neil Young- Harvest
Miles Davis - On the Corner
Babe Ruth - First Base
I love that Floyd album as well!

Certainly. Let me know what you’re interested in and if it can be worked in it will.

Hi Pedro! I’m open to reviewing different things but only bands I follow and albums I own.
All due respect, Exile is one of the top 3 best albums of all time - with Abbey Road and London Calling.
Of course they are. No disrespect to them. But we’re discussing 1972 and Abby Road was 1969 and London Calling was 1979.
