So this is the most beautiful and terrific ad I've ever seen in my life. Everything is perfect and the beauty of Sweden is showed in the most appropriate way. Congratulations Volvo, I'm truly obsessed with this video.
Every time I watch this ad, I can feel chills down my spine. I've spent 6 months in Sweden and they meant a lot for me, for reasons I won't bore you with. This is beautiful.
My brother showed me this when I came back from living abroad. He knew I had missed the winter, the pale blue skies, snow crunching beneath your boots and the chill in the air that wakes your lungs and makes you feel alive. I wasn't born here, but it has changed me, shaped me after 40 years of lighting candles in the winter dark, and staying up all night during the summer just to see the sun dip in the horizon, only to rise again and turn the clouds purple and gold. The north is in my blood, in my bones. I live here and I will someday die here, thankful and happy.
This video literally made me cry. This is more than just an another ad; this is an absolutely stunning, beautiful piece of pure art. Bravo! Thank You, Volvo!
This is a tribute to Sweden when it is at its toughest. Thanks to the cold, the darkness, the wind and the rain. Because without our harsh Swedish conditions, we would never have made the cars we make. Anyone can build a car that works in sunshine and beautiful weather. Developing cars that take you where you are going, regardless of the weather and road conditions, is a completely different matter.
Hey if it was'nt for Volvo then i would'nt have realised that swedish taste for design, the sense and sensibilties, are among the best in the world. These videos by Volvo give an insight into Swedish society and the country itself. It's the biggest exercise in the concept of 'Soft power', and i am hooked.....
My son is 4 y.o. and he is watching the commercial every day...and asking dad when will come the winter to get out with our xc90. Sweden is a beautiful country but the winter is always hard... even here in Bulgaria. I never thought that I will drive a Volvo...but I think this is the most balanced car ever made!!!!
Few things after watching this video I felt; I want to learn Swedish because it’s a beautiful language, get a Volvo XC90 because it’s a beautiful car and drive through Sweden sightseeing because it’s a beautiful, amazing place on earth.
By far the best car commercial that I have seen in many years. The level of emotion present for something like this is unprecedented. Sweden is a beautiful country that is worth fighting for. Please Sweden, hold on to your culture before it is too late.

Too far and they don't need me anyway... ) But not only.... Because here in my country, I'm just ''over'' graduated.. And bosses can't pay me lower than what my grade deserve to be payed... It's forbidden.. They can be sued, law is very hard on it. Can't find jobs here... ( I'm a Network System Administrator specialist in Cybersecurity) I would love to learn and speak the language, work for the country, bring my knowledge, give back what Sweden gives me. It could be easy for me.. I'm a European after all, got Nordic genetic and culture , not afraid of snow, and own a Volvo, love the Ghost band the Äkta Människor serie :'D Is it a good argument to go to Sweden... To Work ? Do you think they'll accept me to work there ?
Sweden is very difficult to get into. A Swede will never tell you what they actually think. It's a very closed society that can appear open to some but it's an illusion and I have never met anyone that truly learned the unspoken language in Sweden after moving here. Even people born here struggle with that, unless born into a Swedish family. This is coming from a Swede who has lived around the world. People can be nice but it's mostly for appearances, especially to newcomers.
dabeast / i cant agree i am polish who move to Sweden in 2015 my wife is swedish, i am having Two children, i learn language quite fast( i can also speak polish, german, english, russian) people always Were kind and open for me, ofc its some black sheeps (like everywhere) but overall i think swedish people are different but not worst....than others,i have a lot of friends here, true friends.
Marre8056 most important language if he cant speak yet, its making everything easier, i seperate myself from polish/english speaking people , and other think is that he supposed to stop think like polish(thats our biggest mistake) he need reset, and Chill, i am leaving on tjörn so its completely different, i dont like cities;) is he „new” in Sweden?
I think the Volvo is the best on earth. These cars have a lot of soul, they are not like others they have their own charm and character. If you love a Volvo, it's for life. I wish all good and happiness. Greetings from Russia.
A swedish friend showed me this video and I felt in love with it right away. The music, the pictures, the emotions..it just wonderful, best TVC I have ever seen..
still watching it in 2021...remembering times when I used to live in Sweden, when I experienced all kinds of weather, that make you only stronger..perfect depiction of a country that cares for nature and respects it.
English lyrics for those who do not speak Swedish. Ted Ström is the original artists who wrote and performed the song, the first time in 1984. But other artists have done better versions of it since then. A coastal tanker stomping through the pack ice in the Quark, a workout at Ullevi in haze. Border station in Tornio an old woman on a kicksled, Landsort lighthouse where the snow storm sweeps in. Dense snow and sleet in the hills of Mariaberget, hot and sweat at Statt in Härnösand. A truck in the whirling snow between Kiruna and the distant, flickering lights in Visby harbour. It is then that the great melancholy rolls in and from the sea blows an icy bleak wind. In Malmö the mist is scratched by the ferries sirens, and on the other side of the strait the world begins. A lonely Volvo rips in the headwind on the Tjörn Bridge, the cinema in Pajala gives "Deliverance". Lapplandspilen bellows like a wild beast through the night, the farms turns off their lights. A storm-beaten Marstrand says its Pater Noster, Stockholm City sways in drunkenness. / One refrain reprise and the third strophe is missing in the version sung by Amanda Bergman / It is then that the great melancholy rolls in and from the sea blows an icy bleak wind. it is then that the great melancholy rolls in and from the sea blows an icy bleak wind.
This commercial is epic! Makes me proud of my homeland everytime. An old song that has been masterly remade and scenary of our raw but beatiful and diversed nature. Kudos!
I’m obsessed watching this, the cars go really well within the commercial and also the wonderful shots taken by the cameraman. I really want to remake this commercial when I have a Volvo. Thank you Volvo and the people behind who filmed and edited this commercial 😍😍👏🏻👏🏻
Utan tvekan bästa reklamen från Volvo någonsin. Bättre än Zlatan. Den här känns Sverige. Andas Sverige.
Anders Lindén Because I will never marry a swedish woman, I will never have blond/blue-eyes/pale-skin daughters, I will never fish in the iced lakes with my childs, I will never live with them in a house in the forest of scandinavia and I will never enjoy the cold of the winter of that very beautiful country...

I drive a 08 saab with 70,000 miles and it still works like I just go it. It's sad that Saab went under because Swedish cars are my favourite. When the time comes I'll be defiantly getting a Volvo.
+Ann Myers My older brother owns a S90, with more than 450k miles on it(736k kilometers) and it still runs like the 1st day he bought it. The car has no rust on it, and he drives it in all weather conditions. Before that car he owned a 760. I'm on GM just like you(i own a Opel) that is on 120k miles(almoust 200k kilometers) - and i'm satisfied with it, but i'm planning on buying the new XC70.
Sublime. I´m a Swede. My country is just as horrible and amazingly wonderful as depicted in this song. Goosebumps! It´s of course even better in Swedish. Very Nordic, very Swedish in this exact form, yet you can find a similar sentiment in most cultures I believe. Brazil has it´s famous "saudade" and from Mexico you can hear it in the songs of Juan Gabriel, for example in "Amor eterno" or "Hasta que te conocí", master pieces where a double sentiment of gratefulness towards life and great pain are being intertwined and can´t be separated.
I am Swedish and the Lyrics goes like this A coastal tanker that stomps through the drift ice in Kvarken A training session at Ullevi in haze The border station in Tornio, an old woman on a kick Landsorts lighthouse where the snowstorm draws in Dense snow that gaps in Mariaberget's slopes Hot and sweaty at Statt in Härnösand A trader in snow smoke between Kiruna and the distance Panting lights in Visby harbor That is when the great melancholy rolls in And from the sea an icy, gray-cold wind blows In Malmö, the fog is scratched by the ferries' sirens And on the other side of the strait, the world begins A lone Volvo is struggling in the headwind on Tjörnbron The cinema in Pajala gives "The last journey" The Lapland arrow roars like a wild animal through the night The farms turn off their lights A storm-whipped Marstrand asks his Pater Noster Stockholm city is swaying in its intoxication That is when the great melancholy rolls in And from the sea an icy, gray-cold wind blows

(I wanted to go to Canada.. Too far and they don't need me anyway... ) But not only....
Because here in my country, I'm just ''over'' graduated.. And bosses can't pay me lower than what my grade deserve to be payed... It's forbidden.. They can be sued, law is very hard on it.

I would love to learn and speak the language, work for the country, bring my knowledge, give back what Sweden gives me. It could be easy for me..
I'm a European after all, got Nordic genetic and culture , not afraid of snow, and own a Volvo, love the Ghost band the Äkta Människor serie :'D
Is it a good argument to go to Sweden...
@@sebbe5004 Hej Sebbe, my husband has moved with me to göteborg( I'm swedish), he is polish! I try to tell him things will get easier, any tips?
Marre8056 most important language if he cant speak yet, its making everything easier, i seperate myself from polish/english speaking people , and other think is that he supposed to stop think like polish(thats our biggest mistake) he need reset, and Chill, i am leaving on tjörn so its completely different, i dont like cities;) is he „new” in Sweden?
I think the Volvo is the best on earth. These cars have a lot of soul, they are not like others they have their own charm and character. If you love a Volvo, it's for life. I wish all good and happiness. Greetings from Russia.
I don't understand the language of the song still I love to listen to it...love from India
A swedish friend showed me this video and I felt in love with it right away. The music, the pictures, the emotions..it just wonderful, best TVC I have ever seen..
Stunning cinematography.
still watching it in 2021...remembering times when I used to live in Sweden, when I experienced all kinds of weather, that make you only stronger..perfect depiction of a country that cares for nature and respects it.
English lyrics for those who do not speak Swedish. Ted Ström is the original artists who wrote and performed the song, the first time in 1984. But other artists have done better versions of it since then.
A coastal tanker stomping through the pack ice in the Quark,
a workout at Ullevi in haze.
Border station in Tornio an old woman on a kicksled,
Landsort lighthouse where the snow storm sweeps in.
Dense snow and sleet in the hills of Mariaberget,
hot and sweat at Statt in Härnösand.
A truck in the whirling snow between Kiruna and the distant,
flickering lights in Visby harbour.
It is then that the great melancholy rolls in
and from the sea blows an icy bleak wind.
In Malmö the mist is scratched by the ferries sirens,
and on the other side of the strait the world begins.
A lonely Volvo rips in the headwind on the Tjörn Bridge,
the cinema in Pajala gives "Deliverance".
Lapplandspilen bellows like a wild beast through the night,
the farms turns off their lights.
A storm-beaten Marstrand says its Pater Noster,
Stockholm City sways in drunkenness.
/ One refrain reprise and the third strophe is missing in the version sung by Amanda Bergman /
It is then that the great melancholy rolls in
and from the sea blows an icy bleak wind.
it is then that the great melancholy rolls in
and from the sea blows an icy bleak wind.

As a swedish speaker, I’m utterly confused by the “translated” lyrics.
However it’s still the best commercial I’ve ever seen.👍
This is so beautiful. Makes me proud to be Swedish!
This commercial is epic! Makes me proud of my homeland everytime. An old song that has been masterly remade and scenary of our raw but beatiful and diversed nature. Kudos!
my god this clip was so good , i never wanted it to end, so beautiful ...
Still the best car ad of all time.
Utmärkt marknadsföring! Också gillade sången! Bra jobbat grannar!

I’m obsessed watching this, the cars go really well within the commercial and also the wonderful shots taken by the cameraman. I really want to remake this commercial when I have a Volvo. Thank you Volvo and the people behind who filmed and edited this commercial 😍😍👏🏻👏🏻
I absolutely love this song ;) Good job.
Utan tvekan bästa reklamen från Volvo någonsin. Bättre än Zlatan.
Den här känns Sverige. Andas Sverige.
Fan i mig vackert!
I don't know why, but I'm with tears on my eyes. That feel when I will never be swedish...
Please, why do you feel like that?
Anders Lindén Because I will never marry a swedish woman, I will never have blond/blue-eyes/pale-skin daughters, I will never fish in the iced lakes with my childs, I will never live with them in a house in the forest of scandinavia and I will never enjoy the cold of the winter of that very beautiful country...

This is such a love letter to our beautiful country and I love this rendition of this song!

Wonderful pairing of the lyrics with the song and video!
Tack! Tusen tack! Sveriges alternativa nationalsång!!! ;)
Busy collecting more songs about Volvos...even though my last one is gone, and can't afford another, yet. I'll never stop loving Volvos.
I drive a 08 saab with 70,000 miles and it still works like I just go it. It's sad that Saab went under because Swedish cars are my favourite. When the time comes I'll be defiantly getting a Volvo.
+Ann Myers 08 lol. People here still drive Saab and Volvo cars from the 80s and 90s.

My older brother owns a S90, with more than 450k miles on it(736k kilometers) and it still runs like the 1st day he bought it. The car has no rust on it, and he drives it in all weather conditions. Before that car he owned a 760. I'm on GM just like you(i own a Opel) that is on 120k miles(almoust 200k kilometers) - and i'm satisfied with it, but i'm planning on buying the new XC70.
Master Skywalker unbelievable
Patriotism eller inte, Norrland for life
Northerner Men här visar Volvo mångkulturen i Sverige!
i think this is without a doubt the best advertisment ive seen...not only from volvo, but SO FAR!!
thx!!!!
I seriously see this video every morning when i drink my morning coffee! :O
Why is this so good?! Every time! I want a Volvo now :D
Fantastisk reklamfilm

I am Swedish and the Lyrics goes like this
A coastal tanker that stomps through the drift ice in Kvarken
A training session at Ullevi in haze
The border station in Tornio, an old woman on a kick
Landsorts lighthouse where the snowstorm draws in
Dense snow that gaps in Mariaberget's slopes
Hot and sweaty at Statt in Härnösand
A trader in snow smoke between Kiruna and the distance
Panting lights in Visby harbor
That is when the great melancholy rolls in
And from the sea an icy, gray-cold wind blows
In Malmö, the fog is scratched by the ferries' sirens
And on the other side of the strait, the world begins
A lone Volvo is struggling in the headwind on Tjörnbron
The cinema in Pajala gives "The last journey"
The Lapland arrow roars like a wild animal through the night
The farms turn off their lights
A storm-whipped Marstrand asks his Pater Noster
Stockholm city is swaying in its intoxication
That is when the great melancholy rolls in
And from the sea an icy, gray-cold wind blows
Vackert! Rysningar in i själen.
Dansker her! Elsker den.
Fortfarande den bästa reklamen jag sett, någonsin. Född 1984l
Amazingly well done video. Truly inspiring and helpfull for a Swede to love his nation in all its beauty.
The best car ad ever! Makes you feel very homesick.
Vemod, that is.
This song is a masterpiece
Any idea what it’s called?

Awesome video, outstanding music, amazing and breathtaking views and nature!!! Guys, simply perfect!!!
