- I was itching for an adventure after a long day at work and I think I may have created the next big endurance sport. CRUISER BIKE SKI MOUNTAINEERING. Trust me it's going big. Also, trust me and try some Adventure Greens, they got me feeling fantastic. www.ergogenicsnutrition.com/a...
Starting in downtown Vancouver I strapped my skis on my girlfriends cruiser bike and gained close to 1000m to gain access to Cypress Mountain ski area. From there I clipped my boots on, stuck on the skins and suffered my way to the summit of Mt Strachan for sunset. It was an incredible adventure.
I guess you could say I put a whole new meaning to cruising. Goes to show. You can still have fun while working a day job.

Someone get this man a bike with an actual low gear for hill climbing haha. This is so impressive. I don't think the Cypress climb sees very many 6 speed cruiser bikes, let alone with skis attached lmao.
I did this once biking up Seymour then skiing Pump Peak. I had a road bike and it was still so exhausting. It was a really hot day and I felt pretty overheated by the time we made it to the top, not a typical problem when out skiing. But it was pretty satisfying skiing, knowing that I got up there from sea level entirely under my own power.

Dude Pump peak is a big mission with the bike too. Unreal! I'm going to have to try that one next year. Hopefully with a better bike.
This was amazing. A couple things:
- you can take 15th up, there’s a wide shoulder to ride on briefly before you end up back where you connected with 21st. Very safe with lots of room once you go under the underpass.
- you don’t need to take the stairs off the lions gate. Just loop back around underneath the bridge.
- you need to incorporate a swim at the beach next time if you can get an earlier start.

Hahaha Yes! Literally captured what it means to be a skier, willing to ride a bike for 3 hours + to ski in May, yup 😎 I'm doing the Ski and Sail this weekend, bike is in my car just in case lol

Fun fact: it is not illegal to bike on highway 1 or 99, at least in west van and north. I see people do it all the time, and I bike 99 often enough in/around squamish

I got a pickup down the hill... didn't bring bike lights and ran out of water. So dangerous to bike in the city without lights

Man, that was hardcore. Going from the bottom of West Van to the top of Cypress is a crazy climb when cycling for the sake of cycling. I would have nothing left to try and hike on skins, yet alone make the downhill. Mad respect, was grinning every moment knowing how insane your feat was. Still bumb I was on call before the heat turned the snow mushy. How do I like this vid twice?

How is there still snow there by the water???
Lot's of snowfall in winter because of the water making a solid base and the elevation is decent. The snow doesn't really melt until July.

Is Whistler looking pretty crappy?
Whistler Alpine held on well but the mid mountain is pretty icy and low snow pack. Could be worse though, better than a lot of the other BC resorts.

This was about 2 weeks ago. I was up at Cypress last night and the snow is completely melted almost halfway up to the sky chair. Not much skiing to be done now :(
