there's a lot of exceptional knowledge, succinctly, delivered, all in one place. i've been using clo3d for about a year, and i still picked up new things here.
one small note: i think Walk Pattern is worth at least a B in light of the fact that if you right click while walking you can apply a notch on the same point on both patterns simultaneously. it is, in my opinion, the most effective way to notch patterns for real world sewing.

Comes down to personal preference ... I usually use the B tool, right click, add a segment point where I want a notch and use the notch tool to add it in order to keep the patterns in the same spot throughout the design stage... But yeah, it's just another solid way of working, definitely! But not S tier so the beginners are set, haha

So, by a strike of luck I now finally am able to say.... first.
But jokes aside, I really enjoy the dedication and craftsmanship of your videos and of course, your clothes. I'm using Clo3D to make some clothes for me and my partner as a hobby and your videos are a godsend.
    Tks and cheers!

Does anyone know if Clo has a feature to follow lines? I’m trying to create a replica of a stage performance and I’m using the button feature to create Rhinestone.

Great video, however one bit I cannot really approve of. I do use "transform segment" tool quite a lot and love it. It helps me so much in adjusting , Maybe you neglected the potential of this tool. Same with "C" editing curves. I hate my pattern "cluttered" with all those curve points and I find it gives me less control over my curves. Using "C" it will create bezier handles, which I so much prefer to shape my curve with. And it adds no additional curve-points leaving my lines clean. And "smooth curve" you did not really use the way it is intented to. You just drag a point from an edge inward to create an even curve, which I find very handy at times. Are you sure, you were really thorough in exploring all the tools or too quick in discarding many as useless?
Comeing slowly to the end of your video, I must revise my first impression. No, not a great video. Do you even have an idea, what the "Trace" tool can be used for? By tracing outside and/or internal lines you can create whole new pattern pieces like lining or pockets or whatever. Please do your homework first before lecturing. Sorry, but so far I would not recommend your classes. And no, I am not associated to Clo, but just a regular user.

I appreciate your input but you have to understand who this video is targeted to, a beginner who needs to have a glance at the functionality of the tools, and commit to mastering a few of them first to achieve a usable result. I've highlighted the most important ones to avoid choice overload. I hate Beziers as there are only 2 of them per segment whereas with the curve points you can literally shape an entire pattern piece and as soon as you exit the tool, you no longer see them. The trace functionality you're describing can also be done with internal lines and cutting + sewing... Knowing more options to achieve the same result will lead to a highly technical user who doesn't focus on design which is what clo is meant for and what we encourage our audience to push for.

This is interesting discussion! I have the feeling that @tinalisapattern is a seasoned patternmaker with years of experience and @GRMT is a designer, am I correct? You both have a point there and I can see where you both go apart and meet. The pattern maker will start in 2D, drafting or working from a block to create a garment and using 3D just to check if the patterns fit correctly. A designer will do the opposite, that person will draw on the avatar and will use the 2D to generate patterns. If you would like to start an actual brand and need to draft and grade patterns, you will have to have thorough pattern knowledge and fitting experience or you'll have bad fit in your garments. If you're design for a specific person and don't have tha pattern knowledge, CLO is such a big help in generating patterns.
In all my years of experience (30y), I have found that a good pattern maker is indispensable. CLO is great but will not be able to replace real life actual experience. The avatars may move like humans but they do not have soft bodies and real humans do. That has an impact on fit, especially when you're working close to the body.

@@hariitolingerie I am indeed a fashion designer. I studied fashion design in Germany back in the 80th. And yes, I love pattern making and bringing your ideas from head (or paper) to real life. And a good fit is essential. I am nowadays designing sewing patterns, which I sell as ebooks with included instructions. And I am sad to see too many self proclaimed designers and pattern makers (well, at least they believe they are) that do a terrible job and give the business a bad name. I take pride in not only providing a great design, but also a great and accurate fit. I even include instructions for alterations of the pattern to fit your body.
Now I see the same happening in the 3D scene, and it so pisses me off, when I take a second look at what appears quite nice at first glimpse, but upon closer look would never work in real life.
BTW someone in a fB Clo group asked for help, as something taught in a course he purchased did not work as shown in the video. The sleeve always flipped to the wrong side, when simulating. Well, not only was that sleeve an insult to my eyes, but yes, indeed, it was sewn on wrong, but in the short sequence he showed, it seemed to sew on correctly in the end ( I strongly suspect, there was a cut in that video and the result apparently correct). That poor guy had struggeled all day and was desperate for advice or help.
I inquired, who was the maker of those courses.... and guess what?...
Jepp. the same person I said, I could not recommend his classes.
