I've tried Hello Fresh & loved it, so let's give Gousto a chance too! Gousto are a food delivery service - they bring fresh ingredients & tasty new recipes straight to your door for you to cook, so I just had to try this one too! Myself & the Mrs decided to take on Gousto for a week...and here is my unboxing video, plus an honest review of how it went day-by-day AND a comparison with Hello Fresh. Who was best?!

Been using Gusto for the past few months and love the recipes, I think it’s good value, easy to make and extremely tasty meals which I wouldn’t usually choose to cook. They do miss the occasional ingredient but if you contact them they will reimburse the cost and send a freebie next order
We did try Hello Fresh but after a couple of batches of chicken which smelled really bad we ditched them, really didn’t like the fact they used diced Chicken thighs most of the time, it smelled and looked really unappetising, also didn’t like the way the meals were packaged all in one bag, it meant fridge space was taken up by dried rice and pasta which I would usually store in a larder cupboard
Gusto has been way, way better in all aspects (food quality and flavour, packaging and instructions)

I've tried gousto and hello fresh and I have to say Gousto for me at least was by far the best.. By a long shot!
Both companies have great tasting food but I felt like the packaging from gousto was so much better. My ingredients were individually wrapped per meal so unsure why it wasn't in this video. My first box came with a fancy wooden spoon which was a nice welcome gift from gousto! The box it arrived in was much higher quality, having a separate sealed compartment with ice block over hello fresh just wrapped up in tape, ice blocks and some insulation... The meal cards from gousto is also much easier to follow, better material (card not paper) and you can order a free ring binder to keep them in.
My final thoughts:
Gousto 10/10
hello fresh 6/10

I seen that people were getting a free spoon with their orders and I got absolutely nothing and all the ingredients I had to sort out myself which took me alot longer than I expected. I made my first meal today and so far the food was lovely. I've had a look on hello fresh too and placed an order so I will be trying that one out too.
@@dionnelever85 I'd suggest getting in touch with gusto, I'm sure they'll send you put a spoon in your next order. As for the ingredients not wrapped. Maybe one off? Comment after you have had the hello fresh, I'd be interested in your thoughts for comparison.
@@dionnelever85 I didn’t get a free spoon from Gousto either, but I did get a bar of Tony’s Chocoloney milk chocolate with my second box, which was nice.
I got free Gu cheesecakes with HelloFresh in my fourth or fifth box.
Free stuff is always nice.

The trouble with a lot of these services is they don't do meals for one but suggest (hellofresh) that you get the 2 person and split it using the rest of it another day. Thats ok if you don't mind being repeatitive.

Both were very good, but if I had to choose I'd probably say Hello Fresh was the best...just!

@@FromTheAsh I have tried both and I would agree. Gousto also failed to deliver one five meal box on 31 Dec and they did not even bother to tell me! I only found out when I checked the Yodel tracking.

I have had hellofresh now for the last 3 month at first really impressed then things went wrong, going to give gusto a try as the last 3 HF delivery's have had issues items missing. fury veg, and one delivery was completely missing the fridge bag! I think the food in bags depends on the packer that day ive only had 1 delivery all packaged in bags its normally veg is lose like this box but packets in a HF Box and the fridge bag . I have complained regarding the issues to HF but have to say their customer service is what lead me to try Gusto, how were they when you complained?
I think you're right. Their customer service were good from what I can remember - I filmed this one around 6 months ago, but I think they gave me a free meal (which I am yet to claim!)...

I’ve just started with hello fresh and they never bagged up ingredients by meal so I don’t think they do that anymore. I’ll try Gousto next because you get new customer discounts so may as well try both.

@@FromTheAsh I had my first Hello fresh delivery yesterday and it's all bagged individually. I was really impressed with the Prawn and Chorizo spaghetti that we had last night.

Meat comes with it! I'm actually going to be filming an updated Gousto review soon (this one is almost a year old) so keep an eye out for that by subscribing!
For the delivery, did Hello Fresh or Gousto use a use a courier service of was it actually a Hello Fresh/Gousto person who delivered it?
They were both DPD I believe!
@@FromTheAsh thanks for the quick reply but am I being pedandic by thinking that the comment about the Gousto delivery being late and put on the wrong doorstep an issue with DPD as opposed to Gousto? Did Gousto label the delivery incorrectly?

I don't remember to be honest Mahim, I filmed this around two months ago. I probably preferred Hello Fresh overall, if that helps :)

How easy is it to unsubscribe if you don’t want to continue with deliveries and also if you want to miss a week?
You can skip a week easily in your profile, then when you want to cancel you can do it via the live chat - I’ve done it a few times & they’re normally pretty helpful 👍

Gousto is good but they use way to much packaging. One of the recipes I had came with a massive paper bag containing nothing but a sachet of red wine vinegar... Some of the dishes are extremely bland but they've got some hidden gems
