Matt was getting it do you hear me! I watched the MMC back in the day faithfully at 4:30pm everyday and I do not remember Matt ever singing like this. Then again, I was a child and did not know talent when I see it. Matt was so underrated it's unreal.
If you a nsync fan like me you would notice the similarities here with the chair and them sitting singing and the lamp there as they had one for their I drive myself crazy performance they did in 2000 for their MSG concert and the ending of the song how Dale turns off the light there just like the one when Joey turned off the light in the end of I drive myself crazy. No one else noticed that ? Lol.

Yes. Today everything is "OMG CULTURAL APPROPRIATION!!" but yes, MMC didn't play that foolishness. The white kids were singing soul and R&B mainly because of how the show was. The 90's Club differed from previous versions of the show largely due to the enormous impact of black music. The show was so heavily influenced by hip-hop that they made it a point to follow the show's iconic closing song with a rap. To this day I'm fascinated by the show's love of black music. I believe Brian McKnight said in an interview one time that when he visited the show's set he was tripping out at all those little white kids singing soul music. McKnight was one of many many R&B artists that appeared on the show as a musical guest.

If MMC had continued another season or 2 they would've had Brandy, Monica, and Aaliyah on the show. In the 7th season, one of the Video Jams had Nita and Rhona covering Back and Forth by Aaliyah. MMC couldn't cover a lot of Hip-Hop because of the genre increasing going the hard-core/gangsta rap direction throughout the series. Imagine Dale and Ricky covering Ain't Nuthin But A G Thang by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
