I look forward to hearing your thoughts on CK LA! I’ve only used the language arts for the younger grades, but have been curious how well it worked with the older grades. I totally agree that LL needs to have an index or reference. When my daughter did grade 3 I was flipping back so many times that I just ended up creating a study guide sheet. I’m not sure why they don’t just include a page number on the assignments that references back to the previously covered topic 🤷♀️
My 6th grader started CKLA at lvl 4 with the Brown Girl Dreaming unit! (Also, the American Girl series has a nonfiction chapter book on the Civil Rights Era that is so excellent. We read it in bed as a companion to this unit. We learned so much!!) We really loved that one. I love how ckla teaches literary works. Wish more of their units involved them.

I felt the same about Lightening Lit. We’ve also been using novel studies from TPT.

Yes! We have read that American Girl book before! I agree about more literary works.
