Quite a few people seem to be taking offense that I didn't use the *brown* pencil for the skin. The pencils weren't very nice, so, as I said in the video, I wanted to use *paint* for the skin. There was no brown paint, and since I'm not used to paints, I decided brown would be too hard to mix consistently. If they were tube paints, I could have done it, but with these pan paints, I felt like I couldn't mix well. I opted to make an unnatural skin colour that fit in with my pink & teal & purple colour palette. She's also a *mythical creature*, so what's wrong with having bright pink skin? There's no need to hate on my colour palette choices and call me racist. To be honest, it's your choice. Your not racist. I imagine that colouring with a dark brown crayons pen would totally eat through the paper, for that big of a space. I don't get why your getting hate, because when I draw like you, I draw darker skin people with better quality pens :) Don't worry about the hate People just need to understand, at the end of the day it was a beautiful piece of art, no matter the colour. 😊

Not all water based markers are bad. Tombows are pretty great, but they're top of the line when it comes to water based markers. You can use them as a marker or you can scribble some ink on a non porous surface and use it to watercolor. Hey, you could probably do the latter with those dollar store markers!
U can do it with any water based marker and by the way- tombows have a brush tip so they don't rip the paper that much but if you'll try to blend them it will start to peel up your paper
+GummyTumor Thing is Tombow are made to be able to do that. Yes they are water-based, but the pigments are vastly different than those used in say crayola and others because they are able to blend. Most other water-based ones are not able to do that. Though that seems to be a thing with many "Scrapbooking" water-based markers. Mush easier to blend and lay on top then the other ones.
Mystic The Unicorn Sure! I usually use Paint Tool SAI since I`m more of a painter, but you can also use Photoshop for that. (I have Photoshop, but I don`t personally use it.) For line art focused stuff I recommend Clip Studio Paint/Manga Studio (they are the same thing) or Paint Tool SAI for advanced shading with line art. For vectoring I suggest Illustrator. I think that`s it, have fun! ^-^

+Crystal Jiang I never said anything about opacity. I was talking about the amount of pigment. Watercolours can still be translucent and be highly pigmented. I noticed a difference between the ones in this video and the ones I have. If I use very little water, they should be very pigmented, but they weren't. The amount of pigment is the main indicator of the quality of the paint.

You don't suck! Heck I use really sucky markers worse than Crayola and I feel bad when I see really good art to! But we artists have to sick together! We can make it through this! :)
Haha, I have 5 copic markers and honestly i would't bother unless you have a lot to spend because you need quite a few colours for a proper drawing and you need expensive paper that won't let the markers bleed.

Oh wow :O It's actually really nice even with the cheap paper :O Cheap watercolors tend to come out nice xD I use them regulary :P I would love to see you do a challenge with only the cheap markers, that's gonna be a real quest to do XD

I had a painting I did with some crayola watercolors and it was beautiful and detailed and so bright. I loved it. However, I made it about 7 years ago and now the paper is almost pure white because the color faded. They work great for a moment, but they will not outlast time.
My mom won't buy me any art supplies that are expensive so now I just know how to deal with it and figure out how I'm still going to make the picture that's in my mind.
Same my parent won't but me too but I get why I am still not that good and I will probably waste them .In one way it is better cause learning with basic and elementary stuff will be easier and you don't have to worry about ruining them ♥
its okay i live in canada and art supplies are way more expensive and i dont have expensive stuff either. what i suggest if you can save money yourself and buy them if you can but if not cheap stuff isnt always terrible

Well maybe you are doing it wrong or your will is not strong enough. giving up in my book is an excuse for either not being interested enough intoo it or just not trying at all. She's practiced for so freaking long and I'm not saying that you all don't practice. Also, by listening to her in videos, it seems as if you all get offended when you don't have high-end art supplies like she does. Well, if you invested in money like she did, maybe you can buy it too. She's not a rich person (I heard her mention about it in one video but I forgot), she worked hard for those supplies. I just wanted to add in that little detail there. Easier said than done, but don't try to compare yourselves to other artists. i use pelikan watercolors (i had them since 3rd grade now 7th grade) and they work fine xD

Hey, as a fellow artist (I've been drawing for a while, but as I am not even in high school, I have been teaching myself, and do not know much) could you, if possible, give me some tips? Such as, how did you learn to draw? Like websites, or classes, or art school, or what?

+Vikki Waiting It's not talent it's training. Did a big artist draw photorealistic stuff when they were 5 or 10? no they got to that level by training and energy. You won't learn playing the guitar in one day so you won't master art that fast either.
+Daleeny Ok, there is the a lot of skill required, but just like, singing, for example, you can train all you want, she times you just don't sound good.
Well maybe you are doing it wrong or your will is not strong enough. giving up in my book is an excuse for either not being interested enough intoo it or just not trying at all. I sucked when i started drawing and it was a long way for me but i managed to grow. and that skill didn't come after 2 drawings.

I'm use to using cheap art supplies cause I can never afford expensive things but today I got A LOT of artist markers and I've NO idea how too use them. I'm gonna get use to it tho

I really like that you actually tried with this challenge! A lot of artists just whine over how horrible the watercolours are and make fun of the quality of the markers, but you created a really wonderful picture. Fantastic work!

For this challenge she just used a normal Bic ballpoint pen, but for her "nicer" drawings she uses Copic Multiliners in .3 and .5

hilarious how people attack and accuse Baylee Jae that she made them look bad... come on you guys, she is PROFESSIONAL. She's practiced for so freaking long and I'm not saying that you all don't practice. Also, by listening to her in videos, it seems as if you all get offended when you don't have high-end art supplies like she does. Well, if you invested in money like she did, maybe you can buy it too. She's not a rich person (I heard her mention about it in one video but I forgot), she worked hard for those supplies. I just wanted to add in that little detail there. Easier said than done, but don't try to compare yourselves to other artists. It's hard, but remember that you are not going to be stuck in that "suckish art level" forever as long as you practice... A LOT. I bet Baylee Jae tries to improve as well😊
