it doesn't matter if lilou did or didn't bite benji's style, it doesn't even matter who's better.. the point is simple. you can't refuse a call out, and you especially can't act like a diva and drop the mic like that. benji had the right to call him out and lilou had two options: either battle or forfeit. i was really disappointed in lilou tbh, i really rate him as a dancer but he's not staying true to the culture by acting like this.

i know its a long time ago- but on the other hand- a lot of promoters will invite top bboys to events as guests or judges then have them called out knowing it will blow up their event- and they ll make more money, views, etc- while the bboy gets nothing but risks their rep. i know a few bboys like dyzee talked about it- wherever they went they were called out- and being called cowards- when it was just a ploy to make publicity- etc. under the guise of a "battle" . so there's more to it than that.

Benji is not saying that Bboys/Bgirls that participate in Redbull BC One are fake. He never said that, and I don't think anyone would make a claim that bold. What he is saying, is that the BC One Championship is like drinking SunnyD versus Simply Orange, when comparing it to the types of "battles" Benji and his generation had on the regular. To Benji, winning two of those doesn't mean much...so Lilou doesn't really get leverage because he did.

Imagine lilou actually battled. Any move lilou will do benji will do in the same way thus convincing lilou is a "biter". I think that lilou knew this so he made an excuse. Either get exposed as a "biter" or turn down a battle even though you have 2 rbbc1 belts. Both are bad IMO. This got me questioning lilous legitimacy. If u have 2 belts why not live up to ur name? and if your not a biter then why not battle benji?
lilou chose not to pull off a set because he didn't wish to get exposed. That it would only justify him being a biter. He played safe, simply put. The issue here is that lilou should just acknowledge benji's influence or he'll be fucked up for life. If you lose a fight or a battle u can train learn and come back to take your revenge. I totally agree with your statement, Benji is legendary for his disrespect of other dancers and that style did NOT originate with him he just based his dancing on it. For all the youtube BBoys, Benji came of age in early 2000s at battle like Pro Am and such....these types of moves have been accumulating since the late 80s. I don't know Benji personally, so I can't say if he's an asshole or not. but I know he has been extremely disrespectful of other BBoys in the past, unnecessarily. Call outs are cool, it propels the art, but it should be done in the cypher not on the world stage....It looks like Benji is looking for publicity.

I would like to see it happen, purely from an athletic perspective. Lilou is younger but trained in competition standards (so 2-3 rounds for Final etc) and Benji being older is more old school with shorter sets but for multiple rounds (perhaps up to 10) Would be interesting to see how it balances out and who remains on point in their last set. Problem is it's kinda hard to alter your training for aerobic/muscle endurance if you've been used to power sets with breaks in between rounds. Still, be good to see Lilou battle someone he was inspired by, even if his hero is taking it to him. Most people bite these days, albeit by accident from memory retention, but we will soon see the significance if this kicks off!

You always can find same moves in different bboys. Yes they has very similar style, but it was very modern in earlies 2000th and you can chekc old IBE video all france was dancing same way. I would say it is France style. And you cant just copy style and win so many battles - redbull and BOTY.

I started to know about bboying in 2007. I've heard about many many bboys and Benji was not one of them. But after this encounter I researched him and I've come to the conclusion that their styles are very similar. In my opinion I think Lilou didn't have the intention to copy Benji. i know its a long time ago- but on the other hand- a lot of promoters will invite top bboys to events as guests or judges then have them called out knowing it will blow up their event- and they ll make more money, views, etc- while the bboy gets nothing but risks their rep. i know a few bboys like dyzee talked about it- wherever they went they were called out- and being called cowards- when it was just a ploy to make publicity- etc. under the guise of a "battle" . so there's more to it than that.

What he is saying, is that the BC One Championship is like drinking SunnyD versus Simply Orange, when comparing it to the types of "battles" Benji and his generation had on the regular. lilou chose not to pull off a set because he didn't wish to get exposed. That it would only justify him being a biter. He played safe, simply put. I totally agree with your statement, Benji is legendary for his disrespect of other dancers and that style did NOT originate with him he just based his dancing on it. For all the youtube BBoys, Benji came of age in early 2000s at battle like Pro Am and such....these types of moves have been accumulating since the late 80s. I don't know Benji personally, so I can't say if he's an asshole or not. but I know he has been extremely disrespectful of other BBoys in the past, unnecessarily. Call outs are cool, it propels the art, but it should be done in the cypher not on the world stage....It looks like Benji is looking for publicity.

Je suis un fan de Lilou depuis ses début et j'ai toujours kiffé son style je ne suis pas trop de la génération de Benji donc je ne connaissais pas vraiment.
Mais mtn que j'ai maté tout les battles et freestyle de Benji je confirme et je signe Lilou est un pompeur! Aucun autre Breaker ne l'a copié autant que lui voir meme pas du tout...
I would like to see it happen, purely from an athletic perspective. Lilou is younger but trained in competition standards (so 2-3 rounds for Final etc) and Benji being older is more old school with shorter sets but for multiple rounds (perhaps up to 10) Would be interesting to see how it balances out and who remains on point in their last set. Problem is it's kinda hard to alter your training for aerobic/muscle endurance if you've been used to power sets with breaks in between rounds. Still, be good to see Lilou battle someone he was inspired by, even if his hero is taking it to him. Most people bite these days, albeit by accident from memory retention, but we will soon see the significance if this kicks off!

If you guys listened to what was said and processed it, you guys wouldn't need to be commenting stupid questions. Lilou got called out and didn't battle, if you call me out to battle and i'm like "nah I'm to good to battle you" you'd be as mad as Benji was. Benji had a valid point in saying that If you are a real bboy you'd battle whenever. Point blank period. Biting is cultural in bboying everyone bites, but it's when you call a move your own after stealing it from someone, that's when it's a problem. I started to know about bboying in 2007. I've heard about many many bboys and Benji was not one of them. But after this encounter I researched him and I've come to the conclusion that their styles are very similar. In my opinion I think Lilou didn't have the intention to copy Benji. I also think that Lilou was being disrespectful to the whole bboy world for walking away. This would be one great battle though.
