  • How to throw a right cross isn't as clear as you might think. The right cross is an incredibly powerful strike when it's thrown correctly. Go to: howtofightnow.c... ...for the rest of my free video series.
    This video series will teach you how to knock someone out in one single punch.
    A boxing cross is the power punch from your rear or dominant hand. Unfortunately, most people who teach boxing technique are wrong, and they won't teach you the correct way to throw a cross. The most important distinction in right cross technique is the way that you step your right foot on when punching... as this video will explain.
    If you want more boxing technique tips, or you want to learn how to knock someone out, go to howtofightnow.com for more lessons... I have the secrets for adding INSANE power to your punches and they're free.

I have always enjoyed fighting, not for the feeling of hurting others but because I feel like I'm good and it and honestly it's just fun to do especially with people that can keep their sportsmanship. You seem like a really cool guy on top of that and I'm definitely gonna go to your website. One day I hope to be as defensively capable as yourself.

    i only have 1 question: why do lift your right leg up before you throw that cross instead of sliding in and have your foot on the ground the whole way and give it a little twist at the end for extra power. Because it is looking like your punching air and doesnt seem that powerful to be honest.

  • @davealmeida9786

    you seem to be punching more from your elbow Rather than your shoulder- also one extremely important fundamental that you didn't explain - one of the most important in boxing techniques is that the punches come late- meaning turn your body before throwing the punch

    Nice. Just found your stuff today and like it a lot.
    RIght hand, right leg connection is key. It pulls the balance back under control. I'd disagree when you that people lean forward to get more power but that's just words. They lean forward because they rush and don't have the footwork right. And they are scared of getting hit so they throw their hands without the body/legs.

These are videos that I would recommend to anyone who wants to fight in the ring. However if someone wanted pure self defense on the street I would send them somewhere else first. Again, these are great videos, just geared toward ring fighting.

    if you want to see how to throw a right cross, watch some slo-mo of mike Tyson, everyone talks about his left hook and uppercuts, but his right cross put a lot of lights out. he did what this guy is saying, more or less...he exploded his bodyweight through the punch while staying balanced.

  • @ajp0121
    @ajp0121 11 лет назад

    The balance and push off the ball of the foot is to gain momentum, velocity and explosion. Throw a punch with your pivot planted and then another without it planted; You feel the extra little bit of force.

    LS Chavez, going against the Philly shell, remember you don't always need to jab the head. When heads out of range, throw a triple jab w the first two jabs aimed at his shoulder. Land the third on his face and follow up with a cross or lead hook or both. You won't believe how much it can throw a boxer off because you can put him off balance (momentarily). I know BC I box with the Philly shell.
    If you are an extremely strong puncher you should have no problem.

    What I learnt was to step forward jab the chest then big swing to the face its been working so far they dont see it coming and what I realised was that the jab buts the of balance ...which means if you hit them in the face right after you could have a chance to knock them to the floor or knock them out ..thanks

    This video doesn't make sense. Instead of a guy standing there, why not have a punching bag or a padded wall so we can actually see the dynamics at work. Why does your power punch look like a jab? How are you actually transfering power from the back foot to the arm? It just doesn't make sense

    • @yepitsteddy
      @yepitsteddy 10 лет назад

      his foot is actually planted in the back, the over exaggeration to teach the form makes it look as if he isn't planting his back foot before the punch. but if you watch at the beginning he explains the importance of the plant and twisting of the hips to throw your punch. the video just looks weird, but trust me that foot will be on the ground before you launch your punch

    • @yepitsteddy
      @yepitsteddy 10 лет назад

      as I watched more of this video, its starting to not make sense. I was watching it more of a step to get closer, which would make sense, but the way he explains it makes it sounds like he is throwing the punch at the same time he stomps his back foot. I really think he just messed up when trying to exaggerate though, no one throws a power punch without their back foot planted.

    • @yepitsteddy
      @yepitsteddy 10 лет назад

      look at the second punch of the video, back foot definitely planted prior to punch, like a normal person, its just his exaggeration the rest of the vid

    • @antonioroselli7074
      @antonioroselli7074 7 лет назад

      Man got the footwork of a con artist. Their is no reason to take 2 steps in when you throw a fucking right cross. Their is no reason to drop your right hand to your waist when your throwing the punch. An experienced fighter will tap your chin with a left hook the second you drop that. All the power is generated from the tork of rotating your body, and balance of footwork.

  • @TrustNoHUMAN420
    @TrustNoHUMAN420 8 лет назад +3

    I thought the best way to land a punch was to lead with the legs so if the right leg was in front you swing with the right and the left is forward then you swing with the left.

    A little secret tip for beginners. When making a fist, start by tucking in your pinky finger first, then tuck in your ring finger, then your middle finger and so on. It'll help make a tighter fist, which will help with throw a harder punch. Also turn your hip into the punch - like you're throwing a baseball or swinging a bat.

    great point on the importance of the feet

  • @FightSmartTrav
    @FightSmartTrav  11 лет назад

    Why not just STEP your foot slightly pivoted? The point is to allow your hip to turn, and it doesn't have to turn THAT MUCH on a right cross, certainly not enough that your foot is required to make contact with the ground the whole time. A pivot uses very small muscles... the piriformus I believe. When I STEP my foot, I use every head of the gluteus, in addition to my quadriceps and hamstrings. It's dynamic power. Also NO ONE IS EVER THAT CLOSE! You always have to step to hit someone!

    What reason is there to push off and balance on the ball of the foot, as opposed to the entire foot? Plant it and keep it flat on the ground, anchored to the earth, and you get more stability and a larger surface area to push off of.

    While I was trying to remember the footwork and the details from the video and just as I was getting myself into position ... he knocked me out!
    Just do what your dad's told you - puch hard, punch fast, follow through.

    assuming that right cross misses/doesn't land clean, what's next? a check hook or you curl up in a ball cause your fight ending punch didn't end the fight?

    So is it about how hard you press your back foot into the ground when you throw your cross?

    Because I'm left handed I assume my cross is the opposite ?

    I thought you had a slight step in the JAB not cross. The cross is more of a twisting motion not a step right? I'm confused

      +Devin Bird He saying step so once you foot lands it generate more power from your left as it pushes and twist against the ground...
